Lyman H. Holland, born in 1845, in Ohio; lived in Christian County, Ill where he twice married (1) Susan F. Dooley or Sarah Frances Dulaigh November 8, 1868 in Pana, Christaian County.
(2) Melvina Cox Bradley, widow of Elijah Bradley, m 22 Dec 1875.
 

In 1880 Christian County Illinois Lyman H.  35 does general work.  he and Melvina Hollan  have his stepdaughters Calista. M 11 and Inas 6 Bradley, daughter Nettie 11, son Georgie 2, and "no name" daughter two months old.

Bet he's the Burlington & Missouri Railroad laborer in the freight department  in 1890 Denver.  So he could travel to and from his claim cheaply.

One tree said they had a son Lyman Hazael Holland, Jr., born August 12, 1885, dying January 23, 1891 in Denver.  That might be this one in Denver Fairmount cemetery 

In 1893 (from the City Directory of Denver) we find Lyman H. Holland, living at Greenwood nr Valley Ave, Highlands - listed as an "engineer West End Elec RR"
 

In 1900 Gilpin County, Colorado  a L. Holland, April 1845 in Ohio, is an engineer Sta.  He and Melmia, April 1850 in Ohio, have G.L., son, August 1877 in Illinois.  Melmia has had eight children, six living.

In 1902 the Empire Land and Cattle Company sued Lyman to get title to the northeast quarter of his claim.

A descendant sent this nice photo of Lyman and Melvina.

Melvina Holland died in Denver December 20, 1907.

In 1910 Sangamon County, Illinois Lyman H. is 65, widowed, living with his daughter Nettie, 40, Illinois and her husband George Milliken

One tree said Lyman died July 17, 1928 in Ventura, California.

It says George Louis Holland, born August 15, 1877 in Christian County, died April 18, 1918 in Arapahoe County.

He married Elizabeth Goldman May 17, 1900 in Arapahoe County.

1910 Gilpin County has him mining gold with Elizabeth, 29.  She's had three kids, two still living - James. J. 9 and Robert T. 3, both born in Colorado.  George L. Holland filed for a mining claim on 33 acres in Colorado in 1915, along with William S. Grim, Jacob D. Martsolf, and H. May Martsolf.

James and Robert in 1920 Denver are listed as "sons" for George and Nellie Hirt.  George Fred Hirt registered for WWI in Denver, saying his wife was Elizabeth.  So it must be the same.  George F. Hirt had married Mary C. Staub September 26, 1900 in Arapahoe County.

1930 New York City has James 30 a lawyer and Robert 24 a clothing salesman with Elizabeth 49.

Lyman Hayes Holland was my grandmother, Leola's father. Besides George Lewis Holland, and my grandmother there was another son Lyman Jr. who died in childhood and 2 other daughters.
