In 1860 Appanoose County, Iowa, Joel Blakesly is 50, Ohio with Nancy 47, Kentucky. Ada M. 19, Alex 17, and Francis M. 14 were born i Indiana. Wm. 12, Nancy 9, and Columbus 7 were born in Iowa.
"Joel Blakesley served as a Private in Company G of the 37th Iowa Volunteers.
Born in 1811, Joel was married and had eight children, ages 9 to 31, when he enlisted on November 14, 1862. He died of disease in the Regimental Hospital at St. Louis on May 1, 1863.
His sons:
Abraham (b. 1831) served in the Army and survived the war.
Alexander (b. 1843) enlisted in the 6th Iowa Infantry, died in a Memphis hospital of dysentery in July 1863
Francis M. (b.1846) enlisted in the 47th Iowa Infantry in June 1864, served only 4 months before being discharged.
Joel is buried in Jefferson Barracks # 99781516

Nancy Blakesley age 56, died of fever in December 1869 in Appanoose County. She's buried in Haines Cemetery # 133820666, with son Columbus 1853-1923.

Roy Blakesley, per # 49029327, died April 8, 1894 "Son of M. & E.E. age 2 years three months 17 days.

EDMUND

Edmund Winslow Blakesley was born in Wayne County, Iowa to Francis M. Blakesley and Ellen Hanes, and married Minnie Myrtle Breese in Corydon, Wayne County February 13, 1901.


State Herald, Holyoke, CO, 16 Mar 1906

DIED - At the home of her sister in this county, on Wednesday, February 28th, Mrs. Minnie M. Blakesley, from consumption. She had been suffering for some time with this dread disease and Mr. Blakesley had brought the family from their home at Lucern, Missouri, to Colorado in the hope that the change of climate might improve her health and they had been stopping with her sister, Mrs. J.G. Richardson of this county. She leaves her husband and three small children. The funeral will be conducted from Mr. Richards' home on Saturday, March 3, Rev. Gard of Holyoke preaching the sermon and the body will be brought to Holyoke for burial.
Ellen Louderbaugh, born 1885 in Putnam County, Missouri to G.C. Louderbaugh and Lucy Watson, married E.W. Blakesley in Corydon Nov 6, 1907.

December 1915 Loveland, Colorado "Mrs. E.W. Blakesley and little daughter left yesterday to visit for several weeks in Iowa nd Kansas. Her husband accompanied her to Denver and returned this morning."
She might be the Mary Ellen Blakesley 1885-1939 buried in Loveland # 38434021.

Ercell Naomi Thoman Morrison surely is the daughter of Edmund and Minnie. She was born Dec 14, 1908, died April 28, 1988, buried in Riverton Wyoming # 26026044.

Dale Edmund Thoman was born Jan 2, 1926 at Bushnell, Kimball County, Nebraska to Fred J. Thoman and Ercell B. Blakesley.
In 1930 Weld County, Fred J. Thoman is 43, Nebraska, Ercell M. 28 Missouri. They have Phyllis 7 and Dale 4, both born in Nebraska.

Eunice is the daughter of Edmund W. Blakesley, who's in Loveland Colorado in 1920, a livestock dealer 38 born in Iowa, with Ellen 34 Iowa, Cecel N. 14 Missouri, Wilma 16 Missouri, Eunice 14 Missouri, and Inez 8 Missouri.
She married Melville Allen, living in Weld County in 1930, buried in Greeley 1905-1998 # 120561354.

Wilma M. Blakesley married Howard Richard Semler June 6, 1923, recorded in Weld County.
1929 Greeley "Mrs. Howard Semler, of Torrington, Wyoming, was a dinner guest Wednesday of Mrs. Gordon Wilson,"

They're in Muscatine, Iowa in 1930 and 1940, where Howard is a carpenter. In 1946 Howard (Wilma) , John (Pauline) and Leo all livee at 1155 New Hampshire in Muscatine.
