In 1910  Bartley Village, Red Willow County Nebraska is the Dewitt C. Baker and Eva Baker family, with Ruth 16, Anna 14, Mary 13, Paul 10, Sylvia 7, John 3, and Milbert four months.  All the kids were born in Nebraska.

Action on the Plains has a nice section on the Wages School "For the terms 1910-1911 Miss Ruth Baker from Bartley, Nebraska, took a homestead.  She taught one term, and kept her little brother John with her.  She was succeeded by her sister who later married Stanley Yates."  I bet Ruth didn't come until 1913, when John would have been old enough for school, and she would have 5 years for her 1918 homestead.

In 1915 Ruth Baker of Yuma County attended a Fort Morgan Teachers Institute.

In 1917 she was one of two teachers in District 34, with a Holyoke address - Cecil D. Goddard with a Wray address was the other.

In 1920 a Ruth Baker is back with her parents in Red Willow, teaching at a public school.

She might be the Ruth L Thomas married to Cyrus W. in Red Willow County, with Malcom E. 6 and Nancy E 4.

Nancy Ellen Mortimore, 85, of Cambridge, died June 24, 2011, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
She was born on June 29, 1925, near Lebanon, in Red Willow County, to Cyrus W. and Lillian Ruth (Baker) Thomas. Nancy attended country school graduating from Danbury High School.
Nancy worked in McCook after graduation at the Ideal Laundry. She moved to Seattle, Wash., where she worked for Boeing Aircraft.
On May 1, 1958, she married Harlan "Baldy" Mortimore, he preceded her in death on March 10, 2006. The couple farmed southwest of Stockville for 30 years. Nancy moved to Cambridge on Oct. 27, 2004.
Nancy enjoyed dancing, especially to polka music. Nancy and friends would attend dances across southwest Nebraska. She was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers: Malcolm and an infant brother.
Nancy is survived by nieces: Dani (Holger) Thomas, of Germany: Tracy Wilkins, of Montgomery, Texas; two nephews, Eugene (Catherine) Thomas, of Albright, W.V., Ed (Linda) Thomas, of McCook.
Memorials are suggested to the Butler Memorial Library.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cambridge with Raymond Durner officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on June 29, at the Arbor Cemetery in Stockville.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., today, at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary, which is in charge of arrangements.

Herbert Mayo was buried in Bartley - maybe a connection ....

Stanley S. Yates proved up on two quarters about three miles east in 1918.  Simeon Yates had two homesteads north of Ruth's - both in 1919.

Ruth Baker proved up on a half-section in 19, 5N 45W in 1918.  This would be about two miles southeast of the school.

She still owns it in 1920, per the atlas.
