emigrated to the United States and settled in Washington Co., Wis.; were
there five years, when they moved to Dodge Co., Wis., and remained ten
years, and then moved to Iowa, settling in Black Hawk county, where his
parents still live. Louis remained there seven years, when he came to
Franklin county, and located in Geneva township, on the farm where he
now resides. He was married Sept. 27, 1862, to Mary Ann Krebs, a native
of New York , born in 1839. They were the parents of twelve children,
eight of whom are now living - Susan C., Sarah M., Franklin L., Luella
B., Mary G., Edward W., Freddy A. and Frieda A. (twins). They are
members of the Evangelical Association. Louis and Barbara Krebs, parents
of Mrs. Belzer, are natives of Alsace . They came to the United States
in 1830, and settled in New York State , where Mrs. Belzer was born. Her
father died in 1852, aged fifty-two years.
From the 1883 book History of Franklin and Cerro Gordo Counties, Iowa
the lungs and heart trouble, June 29, 1910, aged 74 years, 5 months and
2 days.
Brother Belzer was converted in his boyhood days in Wisconsin, joined
the Ev. Association and became a member of the Unite d Ev. Church, when
organized, and was a faithful worker, filling all offices that were open
to a layman, performing his duties conscientiously, having been
faithful to his trust and hence was prepared to meet his God, his last
words being" I am ready to go." He was a kind husband and a loving
father, hav ing the welfare of his children at heart. He leaves a
beloved wife, 3 sons, 5 daughters, 45 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild,
3 brothers, of whom 2 are ministers of the Northwestern Conference, the
Brethren Frederick and Peter Belzer, and is the uncle to Rev. L.E Belzer
and many relatives. He was a true friend of the undersigned, for almost
40 years, and when entering his home I found all the comforts he was
able to bestow. Rev. John Sass, his pastor, conducted the services at
Charles City, and the undersigned spoke in German and English in our
church at Ackley, Iowa, assisted by Rev. F. Bruns, our pastor there. His
remains were laid to rest in the Ackley cemetery, where they remain
until that bright day when all his saints shall hear the voice of the
son of God to
meet him in the skies. May God lead all his loved ones in life th at
they may last meet him in glory.

has suffered from diabetis, going to the hospital at Carroll, Iowa ten days ago,
where, he passed from this life at 8:15 Wednesday evening August 24, 1921.
He left four children: three daughters and one son. Another son had preceded
him. Mr. Frost was deeply interested in his family and had many friends where he
was known, who will miss his smile and friendliness.
