Louis Victor and Anna Marie  (GRUNDER) SOUTHARDS

In 1900 St. Francois County, Missouri "Luvectory" Southards, 10, is with Samuel and Rebecka Southards.

One tree says he married Anna Marie Grunder January 21, 1909 in Pratt, Kansas.

In 1910 Lue is in Pratt County, Kansas, married to Annie 19, with five-month-old Myrtle.  He's a farmer.

Lou Victor Southards registered for WWI in Kirk, saying he was born Oct 9, 1890 in West Plains, Indiana

In 1920 Louis V. Southards, 29 is in Kirk.  Anna is 29, and they have Myrtle 10, Samuel 8, Charles 6, Eula 4, Buela 4, and Elizabeth eleven-months.

In 1930 Kirk Louis and Annie have Samuel 19, Charley 17, Eulah 14, Beulah 14, Elizabeth 11, Rebecca 6, Louise L. 4, and Donald D. 2.


In 1940 Kirk Lue and Annie have Charley T. 27, Elendor R. 16, Louise L. 14, Donald D. 12, and Irvin I. 9 (Elendor must be Rebecca ?)

A gravestone has Lue V. Southards 1890-1945 and Anna M. 1890-1941 Southards in in the Kirk Cemetery.

The stone also has "Lorene E. 1933-1933"

Ancestry thinks Mytrle married FredWilmot, and they're in Webster County Nebraska in 1930.  In 1940 they're in Smith County Kansas.  (Fred was there in 1910 with his parents_SSDI has Myrtle R. Wimot born November 16 1909 dying August 19, 2000.

Samuel is in Kittitas, Washington, in 1940 - lodging with Joe Champie.  He's a laborer.  SSDI has a record of death June 20, 2001, last known address Kittatas County, Washington.

Charley enlisted for WWII at Fort Logan, saying he was single, and a farmer.  There's a Charley T. Southards March 31, 1915- September 25, 1995 in the Moab, Utah cemetery

Donald D . Southards July 30-1927-July 26, 1998 - is in the Wray cemetery.

Irvin Leo 1931-1992 and Alice Foster 1930- Southards are in the Eltopia , Washington cemetery.

Ancestry thinks Louise born May 28, 1925 married Gaylord Stevens November 13, 1942 .  In the Yuma Cemetery are Louise L. 1925-1996 and Gaylord L. 1923-1988 Stevens, married November 13, 1942.

One tree thinks Beulah May Southards died November 3, 1995 in Los Angeles, and that she's buried in the Kirk Cemetery (October 11, 1919 - November 3, 1995, married February 28, 1939 to Irvin C. "Mick" Howlett. He's also in the Kirk cemetery June 10, 1905 - July 19, 1972.

The Kirk 1940 census has Irvin , born in Nebraska, married to Beulah.  They have newborn Louis C.

FindaGrave has Elendor R. Bigelow April 30, 1923 - February 19, 1966 in Evergreen Cemetery, Benton City, Washington. "Wife & Mom"  There's also a Russell D. Bigelow - March 12, 1945 - February 21, 1992.

In 1970 Benton City seven members of the Grand Ole Opry appeared at the Kennewick High School auditorium.  "An added feature of the country and western music program will be the marriage of Pamela Lea Bigelow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard R. Bigelow and Earl Henry Hansen, son of Mrs. Bessie Hansen, all of Benton City.

Lona Odetta Bigelow passed away on November 27, 2012. She was born on August 6, 1923, in Enfaula, Oklahoma.

She had 16 brothers and sisters, by Dora and Cart Martin. She lived most of her childhood in California. She helped to care for the smaller children, worked on the farm and when she got older, she worked for the railroad during the depression.

She met Merlyn Leeroy Mitchel and they married. They moved to Richland, Washington, around 1944. Lona had two children, Larry Dean Mitchel and Marilyn Mitchel Hibdon.

She loved working in her garden and canning her vegetables. She and her friends would have quilting parties in the summer; her quilts are beautiful. She also did ceramics with her sister Willi and all her other friends. They threw a birthday party for each other and each person would bring a special tea cup to give to each other.

On March 1, 1971, Howard R. Bigelow married Lona and they drove to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, with Larry and her son and Lois Covington and had a double wedding. Their son-in-law Ralph Hibdon made a wedding cake on very short notice.

 

 

The young couple are members of the Opry crew and attended school in Benton City before joining the Nashville company."

In 2012 Alma BIGELOW Becker of Kit Carson County died, and among the survivors were "one brother, Howard Bigelow and his wife Lona of Benton City, Wash. "  Howard is probably the son of Earl and Elizabeth (Fuhlendorf) Bigelow of Stratton.

 

 

WAPATO, WA - Eulah Baugher was born to Lou Victor and Anna Mary (Grunder) Southards October 11, 1915 (a twin) at Pratt, Kansas. Her parents moved to Kirk, Colorado when she was a small baby. She received most of her education at Joes, Colorado. She married Roy Baugher of Abarr, Colorado October 5, 1937. They moved to Washington State in 1938. They lived at Yakima a few years, then moved to Ellensburg and finally settling down near Wapato in 1943. They had eight children, Mabel Wells, Dorothy Jones, Maxine Arnold, Ralph Baugher, Victor Baugher, Karen Speaks, Jerry and Bobby. They were farmers and also had a dairy. Eulah's hobbies were crocheting, making crafts for gifts, growing flowers and taking care of her lawn. Eulah was preceded in death by her sons, Victor, Jerry, and Bobby, her daughter Maxine Arnold, her twin sister, four other sisters, four brothers and a great grandson. Survivors include a son, Ralph Baugher of Prosser, three daughters, Mabel Wells of Wapato, Dorothy Jones of Poulsbo, and Karen Speaks of Kennewick. She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Welp of Wray, Colorado, 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 28, 2005 and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato. Concluding services and burial will be in the Zillah Cemetery. Merritt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
