Minnie Hensley married Perry Moore Nov 9, 1913, recorded in Yuma County.
In 1920 Yuma County Perry O. Moore 28 and Minnie 24 have Iris 5, Reva 3, and Wilma one month.
In 1930 Lincoln County, Oregon they've added Verlen B. born about 1923 in Colorado. Perry is a lumber puller in a sawmill.
In 1940 Lincoln County, they just have Verlen, and Perry is a planer feeder at a sawmill.
In 1922 J.L. owned 440 acres, so he must have been doing okay.
EARL
Angie died in 1966, Levi in 1978, and both are buried in Crown Hill, Jefferson County.
Keith died in 2004 and is buried in Vernon County, Missouri.
Stanley also is buried in Missouri,
Edsel G. Hensley May 07, 1924 - May 12, 2007 is buried in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Shirley married Ray Marshall - she died in 1999 and is buried in Kirk
Son Dennis born 1936 dying 1938 is also buried in Kirk.
| Services for Mrs. Angie Belle Hensley, 65, of 137 Irving
St., the mother of 11 surviving children, will be at 1 p.m.
Monday at Howard's Berkeley Park Chapel. Burial will be in
Crown Hill. Mrs. Hensley, born Sept. 8, 1900 in Harrison County, Mo., died Thursday, February 24, 1966 at Swedish Medical Center. She had moved to Yuma County in eastern Colorado as a child and spent 47 years there. Jan. 1, 1916 she was married to L. Earl Hensley and the couple moved to Denver in 1955 where they marked their Golden Wedding Anniversary last New Year's Day. Survivors besides her husband include four daughters, Mrs. Shirley A. Marshall, Denver, Mrs. Mary L. Fast, Lakewood, Mrs. Bonnie B. Flores, Commerce City, and Mrs. Betty B. Rice, Willits, Calif.; seven sons, Jack L., Walter L. and Stanley K. Hensley all of Denver, Byron W., Littleton, E. Gene, Thornton, Dewey D., Aurora, and James E. Hensley, Sheldon, Mo.; her mother, Mrs. Minnie A. Helton, Denver; three brothers, James Helton, Denver, Edwin Helton, Hume, Mo., and Howard Helton, Syracuse, Kan.; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Bell and Mrs. Bessie Flohr, both of Denver, and Mrs. Emma Campbell, Englewood; and 30 grandchildren. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ |
| Walter Lee Hensley, or "Cork" as we all know him, was born at Denver General Hospital on January 3, 1932 to Earl and Belle Hensley. He was a child born into a family that would eventually have 12 children. His family raised livestock and wheat, without irrigation in Joes, CO. It was a hard life, but he had the love and support of his large family and tight community. He attended Joes High School and graduated in 1949. After that he worked for a friend of the family and did custom combining, then moved to Denver and worked for Axom's Auto Wrecking. In 1949 he married Lois Marilyn Fast and their first home was a house on Axom's property. Later he was hired at RTD as a Master Mechanic and then was promoted into management. He worked for RTD for 30 years. One of the fun parts of his job was to pull the old RTD street car in the Parade of Lights for many years. He and Lois would ride in the tow truck pulling the street car and hand out donuts along the way. Cork and Lois had two children, Terry, who was born in 1958 and Dennis, who was born in 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Belle Hensley, his brothers John, Byron, Gene, "Tuff", and Danny, and two sisters Bonnie and Shirley. He is survived by his wife of 59½ years, Lois, his son Terry and his wife Cheryl and granddaughter Shana, his son Dennis and wife Donna, granddaughter Amanda, grandson Justin and his wife Heather, and great-granddaughter Hayden, his two brothers Jack and Dewey, two sisters Betty and Mary, and many nieces and nephews. He was an avid outdoors man; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and motorcycle riding. He had a passion for baseball and softball which he shared with his family for many years through many generations. His love of the outdoors and his love of the game are still evident in the activities of his children and grandchildren, and will no doubt be a part of his great grandchildren's lives as well. He will be greatly missed. A funeral service was held Thursday May 29, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at the Liberty Baptist Church, Joes Colorado. Pastor Jack Stout Officiated. Internment was held at the Mennonite New Hope Brethren Cemetery with Baucke Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. |
