George C. and Lavona Cooley, Idalia
George might be the one in 1880 Mercer County, Missouri, with J.A. 50 and Mary 40 Cooley. and two sons. E.R. 10 and George 8. J.A. is a miller. James Armstrong Cooley married Elmira Mooreland January 13, 1855 in Appanoose County, Iowa, and Elmira died Feb 1865. He married Mary A. Tyler (Tycer) April 22, 1866 in Putnam County.
| A story passed down through a brother of Aaron's (James Armstrong
Cooley) that the Cooleys were Jacobites, fighting for Bonny Prince
Charlie, perhaps at Culloden Moor. The older Cooley brothers were sent
to London and hanged and the younger ones transported to America.
Apparently, Chuck's relatives in MO regularly went to kirkings. A piece
of tartan passed down through the family and was buried with his father. I've studied Culloden Moor but could find no Cooleys. However, our DNA reveals a relationship to the Scottish Chieftain Somerled. His descendants, the McDonalds, were definitely there. The son of one of the McDonald transportees, John McDonald, served with Richard Goode and John Cooley in the Virginia Regiment, 1755. ------------------------------------------------------------------ One blog suggests that Mary Tyler was really Mary Arnetta Ticer,

In 1880 Wapello County, Iowa "Lavora" Mace is 3, daughter of Marion 25 and Nancy 23 Mace, with sister Relia 8. "Marion" almost certainly is James Marion Mace. He was a year old in 1856 Wapello County, with Jas. 5 39 and Martha 26.
In 1900 Mahaska County, Iowa George C. Cooley born Sep 1872 in Missouri, has been married five years to Lovania, Sep 1887 (she's 22, so this has to be 1877), Iowa. They have Marion Mar 1896 and Dewey Sep 1895, both Iowa.
In 1910 Idalia precinct George Cooley, 38, Missouri, and Lavona 32, have Marion 14, Dewey 11, Roy 9, Hugh 7, and Chloe 4, all born in Iowa. With them are Andrew Mace, 18, a farm hand, and Fanny Mace, 15, a servant.
1912 "Mr. Cooley is prospecting for gold on the old Mace claim south of Copper Kettle. He has found some sand which show gold from $20 to $40 per ton."
George C. Cooley proved up land in 10 and 15, 3S 45W, witnesses Fred W. Burdick, Asa D. Whitmore, Claude E. McCay, and William E. Brandt.
Marion Cooley registered with an address of Fort Collins, saying he was born March 17, 1896 at Knoxville, Iowa. For inmates, there are also cards in another system, so there are two entries.
Columbus Dewey Cooley registered with an address of LaPorte, born Sep 26, 1898, and works at a sawmill for his father.
In 1920 Larimer County George C. is 47, Lavoni B. 41, with Columbus D. 21, Leroy C. 18, Hugh O., 16, Chloe A. 12, and born in Colorado Eli G. 9, Louise H. 6, and Estelle E. 2.
George and Lavona are in Larimer County in 1930.
Marion is in Canon City, an inmate at the state penitentiary.
In 1931 Geo, a laborer, and Lavona Cooley are living at Log Cabin - 38 miles northwest of Fort Collins.
Louise - Dec 11, 1913- Feb 12, 1932 and Lavona Belle Cooley - Sep 8, 1878- Feb 25, 1932 are buried in Grandview, Fort Collins - 47394508
Marion Cooley, with a last residence of Nevada, died September 1965.
Elijah G. is in Larimer County in 1940, married to Gladys.
Gladys A. (Meehan) Cooley, 99, born in Butte, Montana, died in Fort Collins in 2010.
Eli Gilbert Cooley is in Grandview cemetery, Fort Collins, "1/4/1978" age 66.
| Estelle Esther (Cooley) Arend, of Beulah, Colo., departed this life
May 16, 1989. She was born Jan. 8, 1917 at Laporte, Colo. She was
preceded in death by son, Randolph Scott Arend, sisters Chloe Annette
Cooley, Louise Ellen Cooley; brothers, Marion A. Cooley, Hugh O. Cooley,
Dewey C. Cooley and Elijah G. Cooley. She is survived by her husband,
Eric Alfred Arend. Also survived by sons, Marvin George (Gail) Arend,
Anchorage, Alaska, David Alfred (Gurdrun) Arend, Eagle River, Alaska;
and daughter, Gewndolyn Nada (Jack) Griggs, Beulah, Colo.;
grandchildren, Michael Gene Arend, James Eric Arend, Marvin Gregory
Arend, Brian Dean (Peggy) Arend, Raymond Dean Griggs, Kristi Elaine
Arend, Leah Rae (John) Coon, Charlene Marie (George) Foley, Vickie Marie
Arend, Cindy Kay Arend; great-grandsons, John C. and David Lee Coon;
sisters-in-law Stella Cooley, Gladys Cooley, Erna Wahnig, West Germany,
Gertrude Prohl, East Germany; brothers-in-law Herbert Arend, West
Germany; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Memorial
cremation services will be held at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home, May 20,
1989 at 2 p.m. Interment at Beulah Cemetery. Family will receive friends
