Oxley Johnson also hailed from Barren County, Kentucky. He was born there on Aug 26, 1835, the son of Oxley Johnson, Sr. and his wife, Martha Ann (Stallsworth) Johnson. Martha was born in Barren County on Apr 14, 1840, the daughter of Henry H. and Amanda (Staples) Stallsworth. Oxley and Martha were married in Barren County on March 18, 1858. Based on the date of their marriage, it appears that Oxley and Martha, along with other members of their respective families, did not leave Kentucky until a few years after members of the Chapman family.

In addition to having been born in Barren County, William Chapman and Oxley Johnson actually had quite a bit in common. They were about the same age, belonged to the same Odd Fellows lodge, their property adjoined one another north of Cainsville and both served with 23rd Missouri Infantry during the Civil War. In fact, their service records indicate they were even the same height and build. There was also a family connection. Their wives were first cousins through the Stallsworth family.

J. T. Crawley was born in Barren County, Ky. , May 22, 1843, and is a son of William and Mary (Stallsworth) Crawley, natives of Tennessee and Kentucky, and of English descent. The father was a farmer, and married in Kentucky, where he lived until 1855. In 1848 he lost his wife, by whom he had three children, viz. : Mary J., wife of Jesse Stallsworth, of Sherman County, Kas. ; Sarah F., wife of William Stallsworth, of Siskiyou County, Cal., and J. T. Crawley. Mr. Crawley afterward married Mrs. Baker, who had been married twice, and by her first husband had six children. By Mr. Crawley she had two, only one of whom survives - Samuel Crawley. Mr. Crawley immigrated to Harrison County, Mo., in 1855, and located near his son's present residence. He was a Democrat, and a Union man, and  during the Rebellion served about a year in the Missouri State Militia.
J. T. Crawley passed his boyhood in Kentucky, and at the age of eleven years accompanied his father to Harrison County, Mo., where he now owns 200 acres of good land, and is a well respected citizen. At the age of twenty he married Miss Mary Stallsworth, who was a member of the Christian Church, and with whom he lived happily about twenty years. She was the mother of seven children, five of whom are living: Lou Ann, wife of James Drurg; Oliver B., Delia M., John B. and Mary, all of whom live at home. Mr. Crawley remained a widower about two years, and then wedded Miss Nancy Bain, of Siskiyou County, Cal. , who has been his wife since December 31, 1886. Mr. Crawley is a Republican in politics, and his grandfather was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.  History of Harrison and Mercer Counties, Missouri 1888

In 1860 Harrison County, Missouri, Jessee Stallworth 26 and Mary I 18, with William A. 2. are in the William Crawley 37 family, with John F. Crawley 12 and Anne Brinton 52.

In 1850 Barren County a Mary Crawley 8 was with William 29 and Mary Crawley 28, and John 4.  So they probably are the same ones.

Jesse Stallsworth Enlisted in Company K, Iowa 11th Infantry Regiment on 25 Sep 1864.Mustered out on 02 Jun 1865 at Washington, DC.

In 1870 Polk County, Iowa Jessy is 36, Mary J. 27, William 12, John H. 9, Frank 7, Sherman 6, Boone 2, Emma 2, and Jessey is three months old.

In 1880 Mercer County, Missouri J. Stallsworth, 46, Mary J. 38,  both Kentucky, Anderson 22, John H. 18, Frank A. 17, Sherman 15, Jackson 12, Mary 12, Dow Lorenze 8, Jenette 6, and Ida 2.  Anderson was born in Iowa, the next three in Missouri, and the last five in Iowa.

There were two Jesse Stallsworth homesteading in western Kansas - so one of them - probably the one proving up in 1892 in 7S 42W Sherman County - is the father.

KANSAS YOUTH KILLS A MAN WHO WAS MURDERING HIS BROTHER

Baxter Springs, KS., Dec. 21---A double murder is reported from a small place on the country road between here and Miami, O. T. An altercation arose between Bill Johnson and Frank Stallsworth. Stallsworth struck Johnson on the head with an iron bar, knocking him senseless. He continued to strike him as he lay upon the ground, when Harry Johnson, a boy of sixteen, took his brother's part, drawing a revolver and shooting Stallsworth in the head. The latter is dead and Bill Johnson is dying. Harry Johnson cannot be found.
