In 1880 Monroe County, Ohio, Jacob Schilling is 61, Martha E. 58, with August 24, Charles 22, Louisa 20, Frederic 18, and George 14.

In 1850 Margaret Waddill is with her partnet Marcus and Margaret
Marvin S. Cook and Margaret K. Waddill married in McDonough County, Illinois on April 16, 1857.

In 1860 "Marcus" 21 snd Margarett 27 have Henderson Cook 9, George Cook 3, and Sarah E. six monghs.

In 1870 McDonough County, Illinois, "Ellen" Cook is 3, with M.S. 32 and Margaret 33. George F. is 12, Sarah 10, and Margaret 8.

In 1880 Jefferson County, Iowa, Maroni S. Cook is farming, 43, with margaret K. 52. George F. is 22, Maggie a. 18, and Ella S. 13.

(Susan's sister Margaret 1852-1950 is likely the Margaret A. Snyder 1862-1950 buried in Los Angele County # 43978938, with Guy Marvin Snyder 1888-1949 son)
George, 27, married Susan E. Cook in Yuma County April 10, 1893.

September 1899 Eckley "Mrs. George Schilling is contemplating a visit with relatives in Missouri."

April 1900 "Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Cook, former residents of Eckley precincts, who have been in Missouri for a couple of years, returned this week and will probably again become residents of this county. They are the parents of Mrs. Geo. Schilling."

In 1900, Eckley precinct, George is farming, born August 1865 in Ohio, married seven years to Ella S. March 1868 Illinois. Hazel July 1894 and Ina August 1897 born in Colorado.

On the same page are Marvin Cook, born July 1838 in Illinois, married 42 years to Margaret Nov 1828 Tennessee. She's had six kids, three living.
1901 "George Schilling of Eckley sold his ranch last week to Mr. Morgan of Hastings."

May 13, 1910 "Mrs. George Schilling and daughter Ina left the latter part of the previous week for a visit with Mrs. Schilling's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cook, of Joplin, Missouri. Ina will the summer there helping to care for her grand parents, who are very old and in poor health. Mrs. Schilling will return to Wray in a few weeks."

MArvin and Margaret are in Nodaway County, Missouri in 1910, 72 and 83.

July 7, 1911 "Mrs. Geo. Schilling, south of town, left last Friday for Missouri, being called there by the illness of her mother, Mrs. M. S. Cook. Mrs. Cook died Sunday and was buried Monday. Mrs. Schilling has the sympathy of many friends here in the loss of her mother."
Margaret King (Waddill) Cook 1826-1911 is buried in Nodaway County, Missouri.
"Marvin" S. Cook 1838-1919 is also buried there.

In 1910 Yuma County, on the Vernon road from Wray, George is farming 44, Ella S. 43, Hazel 15, Ina 12, and Thelma 5.

July 1913

July 31, 1913 "W. P. Pyle whose home is near Kirk is spending this week with George Schilling and family of southwest of town. Messrs Pyle and Schilling are school boy friends, having been raised in the same vicinity in Monroe county, Ohio, and though the former has been a resident of the county for the past eight and the latter for the past twenty-eight years, yet they have taken this opportunity to recall their boyhood days and renew their friendships of former years."


February 1914 "William Pyle and wife of Cope, Colorado, visited in the George Schilling home south of Wray this week. These two families were old friends in their former home in Ohio."

July 1917

March 21, 1918

August 1, 1918 Wray "Misses Georgia and Elsie Schilling, nieces, and Thelma and Hazel Schilling, daughters of George Schilling, will leave tombrrow for Denver for a few days visit." Another article said they left for their home in Warren, Ohio.

These might be in 1910 Warren - Georgia E. 27 is employed at an electrical works. Elsie 13 , Henrietta 8, Verna 6, Susie 18, and Jessie 19, with parents Henry Schilling 59 born in Germandy, married twice. Lucinda 49 was born in Ohio.

In 1900 Wetzel County, West Virginia, Henry Schilling is farming, born June 1850 in Germany, married 11 years to Lucinda January 1867 Ohio. Jessie is 9, Susie 8, Elsie 3. Georgia is 17, , Ida 16, both mothers born in West Virginia.

In 1920 George is widowed, with Thelma 14, and widowed daughter Hazel Zansker 25.

In 1930 Wray George is 65, Hazel Zaneker 35, and Thelma 24 a cook in a boarding house.

June 1931



September 19, 1935 "Mr. Schilling of Wray, father of Mrs. Ben Richard, has been very low for several days. Mrs. Richard spent most of last tweek in Wray helping care for him."

May 7, 1936 "Mrs. Thelma Richard enjoyed a visit with her father, George Schilling of Vernon, a few days last week. They took him home again Sunday."

George is buried in Wray 1865-1937, # 45343220.
So is Ella S. (Cook) Schilling 1867-1918 # 45343255.

INA

Hiram Cumley married "Iva Schillings" on May 23, 1916, recorded in Yuma COunty.

In 1930 Wray, Hiram Cumley is a laborer in a coal yard, 36, Ina 32. Heal M. is 13, Letha G. 10, Earl Ws. 8, Floyd R. 6, Royden D. 4, and Glen A. 1.

Ina (Schilling) Cumley 1897-1962 is buried in Wray, # 27880965, with Hiram C. Cumley 1893-1969.

Helen Virginia Walter was born in Wray to Hiram and Ina (Schilling) Cumley. She graduated from Wray High School and was a homemaker.
She married Byron “Bud” Walter in Raton, N.M., in 1955. He died Oct. 9, 2002.
Mrs. Walter loved crocheting and children. She died Thursday at her home.
Survivors: Two daughters, Susan Walter of Evans and Sharon Evans and husband Tim of Winchester, Ill.; two grandsons, Jared and Ryan Evans, both of Winchester; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: Her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
Services: Services with inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grandview Cemetery in Wray.

Carolyn Ruth Holiday was born in Wray on Aug 12, 1936 to Ina Schillings and Hiram Cumley and died Feb 28, 1975.
She grew up in Wray and attended Wray schools. She later worked at Cederdale Rest Home and in Sep 1967 went to California and married Glen Holiday. They lived in California until returning to Wray three years age.
She was preceded by her mother, father and two brothers. Survivors include her husband, Glenn and son, Dale; stepdaughters, Barbara and Judy and grandson, Jackie; sisters, Leah Richards of Yuma, Helen Walter of Loveland,
Letha Raser of Portland, Oregon; brothers, Wayne of Portland, Oregon, Royden and Ronald Cumley of Sacramento, California.
Services were Monday Mar 3 at the Presbyterian Church and interment was at Grandview.

July 1996 "Margaret Jeanette Ulrich of Sterling died Sunday. She was 75. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm today at Tennant Funeral Home in Sterling. She was born Margaret Jeanette Cumley on April 14, 1921 in Wray (Yuma County). Mrs. Ulrich was a resident of Arvada until retirement. She enjoyed her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband; a son Jack, Sterling; a daughter, Sandy Johnson, New Hope, Minn; a brother, Melvin of Greeley, a sister Doris McKinstery, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Floyd Kenneth Cumley was born in Wray on Aug. 1, 1923 to Ina Schillings and Hiram Cumley and passed away Nov. 18, 1974. He grew up in Wray. On Feb. 18 1943 he entered the service spending his entire time overseas. He was discharged Dec. 23, 1945 with the Purple Heart.
On Mar. 17, 1947 he married Darlene Lush. They had two sons, Danny Kenneth and Denny DeLase, both of Wray.
He owned a truck line for several years and a pool hall. In 1967 he started working for the RJ-2 school district as a custodian. Ill health forced his retirement in Jan 1974.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and a brother. Survivors are his wife and two sons; sisters, Carolyn Holliday of Wray, Letha Raser of Portland, Oregon, Leah Richards of Yuma, Helen Walter of Loveland; brothers, Wayne of Portland, Oregon, Royden and Ronald of Sacramento, California and three grandchildren."

Denny Cumley, 64 was born in Wray, Colorado to Floyd (Bud) and Darlene Cumley on May 20, 1951. Denny graduated from Wray High School in 1970. He married Gladys Wheaton on Feb. 13, 1970 and to this union they had two daughters Lisa and Abbi. Denny and Gladys later divorced.
Denny loved golfing and team roping. He enjoyed going to the vets club to play cards. Denny worked for the city of Wray for 10 years. He also worked for Doug Sessions Construction for 22 years. Denny was a member of the Wray Volunteer Fire Department for many years. After retiring Denny enjoyed helping Doug Myers. Denny loved a Sunday afternoon when his buddies would come over to watch an intense bronco game. Denny thought it was awesome to watch his grandsons wrestle, a sport Denny loved. He was proud of his granddaughters and their achievements in 4-H and life itself.
Denny was a well-liked guy. He knew no strangers. Denny was known as “Uncle Denny” to many people even if he wasn’t related. Everyone will remember his fun, ornery personality. He was truly one of a kind!
Denny is preceded in death by his Father Bud Cumley, Granny Eleanor Lush as well as Grandpa Pete and Grandma Ina Cumley. He leaves to mourn his Daughters Lisa Spelts of Wray, Abbi and husband Paul Garcia of Sterling. Mother Darlene Cumley of Wray. Grandkids Briann and husband Aaron Schwartz of Wray and Kortnee and husband Brenden Dutton of Belton, Mo. Austin and Caleb Garcia of Sterling, and anxiously awaiting Denny’s first great granddaughter Tinsley Mae Schwartz due April 4th. Also, his only brother Danny and wife Mel Cumley of Wray, Nephews Kevin and wife Gette Cumley of Strasburg and Casey and wife Ginger Cumley of Lutz, Florida. As well as great niece and nephew Jasz and Erik Cumley of Strasburg. Last, but not least lots of extended family and many friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Monday, March 28, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Glen Kline officiating. Inurnment was held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado following services. "

THELMA

In December 1927 Thelma was working at the hotel in Joes, Colorado.
Bennett Richard was a mail carrier in Yuma in 1930, living on south Columbus, 36 born in Kansas, with Ina B. 35, Evelyn 16, Anna G. 13, Myldred L. 12, Marjorie L. 10, Kathryn 8, and Velma J. seven months.

Ina Beatrice (Bowen) Richard 1892-1931 died in Denver, buried in Yuma #59792116.

In 1940 Joes precinct, Ben W. Richards is 48, Thelma 35, with katerine E. 18 and Velma G. 10, both born in Colorado.

December 1947

1957 "Ben Richards became ill and was taken to Yuma where he spent the night in the hospital. His daughter Ann Axsom brought him home on Saturday."

1958 "Mr. and Mrs. Ben Richards entertained Mrs. Ina Cumley and husband of Wray. The ladies are sisters."

Bennett W. Richard died in 1958, buried in Yuma # 59792115.
September 25, 1958
October 1970 - Thelma Richards of Yuma and Ann Ansom of Vona attended the funeral of Ann's sister Margie Cox of Meeker.

November 6, 1993
Thelma is buried in Yuma # 59792117.

CHARLES

Eleanor Schilling was born about 1888 in Cameron, Ohio to Charles Schilling and Hattie Windland. She married Edward Baumberger in Cuyahoga County in 1912.

Charles Schilling cash-claimed a quarter, and timber-claimed another in section 6, 2N 45W in 1891.
"Spirit of Democracy, Woodsfield, Ohio dated March 2, 1899

          (Cameron) The infant child of Charles Schilling died February 24. Interment in the German Lutheran cemetery at St. Jacob’s church."

In 1900 Monroe County, Ohio, Charles Schilling is a carpenter, born June 1858, married eight years to katherine July 1863. They have Ellener 12, Clara W. 7, and Sylvia 3. - so Katherine might not be the mother of Ellener.

In 1910 Portage County, Ohio, Charles is 51, Catherine 46. She's had three children, all living. Clara W. is 16, Sylvia E. 12, and Ethel E. 7.

Charles is farming in 1920 Portage County, 61, Catharina 56, and Ethel 17, all three born in Ohio.a
Catherine, born July 7, 1863 at Cameron Ohio to James Winland and Harriet Thomas, died May 27, 195 at Ravenna - residence Rootstown. Buried at Hillside Cemetery Randolph, # 115116723.
Charles, a carpenter, died December 3, 1937, to be buried in Randolph. Father Jacob Schilling born in Hessen Germany. He was born June 1, 1858 at Caeron Ohio.

Eleanor W. Baumberger, born April 30, 1883 at Altitude, Ohio, died August 18, 1928 in Ravenna, to be buried in Hillside cemetery.

Clara Webb Schilling, age 20, married Stanley B. Gilbert in Portage County October 25, 1914i- parents Charles Schilling and Catherine "Minland"

Clara Schilling Webb Gilbert 1894-1958 is buried in Portage County, Ohio # 115116720.
