Charles Samuel and Luie (Mayes) Rawson

In 1885 Otoe County, Nebraska, Wm. A. Rawson is 33, Lilly J. 24, Mary A. 4, Charles S. and John S. both 2.

In 1900 Otoe County, Nebraska, William A. Rawson is 51, Lillie Jane 39, Mary A. 19, John S. and Charles S. both 17, Edward E. 11, and ALice M. 3.

In 1910 Otoe County, Charles is 17, farming, with Luie 17.

They're next to John Robirds 27, born in Iowa and his wife Justea 17 born in Nebraska.
Charles proved up 320 acres in sections 23 and 2, 2N 46W - nust on the northeast edge of Eckley, in 1917.

Vaclac Kasal proved up two quarters in sections 1 and 2, 2N 46W in 1922. He was listed as owne in 1920, with two residences in the center of section 2, not on a road.
The newspaper for his proof gave his name as Vaclav, with witnesses Guy Probasco, Charles S. Rawson, Francis K. Hall, and Ella French.

In 1920 Yuma County, Charles is 31, born in Nebraska, with Luie 28 in Iowa. Glenn is 9, born in Nebraska Martha 4, Irvin 3, and Fern nine months all born in Colorado.

"Services were held Friday afternoon at Eckley Community church for Charles Samuel Rawson who died at the Wray hospital on November 3, 1943, at the age of 61 years. He had been ill for several months.
The deceased was born near Peru, Nebraska, on August 22, 1882 the son of William and Lillie Rawson. Growing to manhood at Nebraska City, Nebraska, he was married to Miss Luie Mayes on Christmas 1907.
To this union were born seven children - Melvin Earl who died in infancy, Glenn E. Rawson and Marie E. Dull of Eckley, Ervin R. Rawson who preceded him in death on August 21, 1940, Fern V. Gilliland of Eckley, Della M. Hesse of Wray and Doris R. Crabtree of Englewood.
The family came to Colorado in March of 1913 and settled on a farm north of Eckley, which has been their home except for a few years spent in the Schramm vicinity.
He leaves to mourn his passing his family, his twin brother, John S. Rawson of Peru, Nebraska, and Edward E. Rawson of Eckley. There are also ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews."




"Mrs. Charles Rawson of Eckley, Colorado was taken suddenly ill Thursday afternoon. Although she was taken immediately to the hospital after becoming ill she died in a very short time. The funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Community Presbyterian church of Eckley, with Rev. M. G. Bell officiating. Burial was in the Eckley cemetery.
Luie Fern Mayes, daughter of James and Armita Mayes, was born June 12, 1892 at Chariton, Iowa, and departed this life at the Wray Hospital June 12, 1947 at the age of 54 years, 11 months and 5 days.
On December 25, 1907 she was united in marriage to Charles S. Rawson of Peru, Nebraska. They resided at Peru for five years and then came to Eckley, Colorado. They settled on a homestead north of Eckley, where she has spent nearly all her life since that time. She was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin Earl who died in infancy, and Ervin Ronald who passed away in 1940, and by her husband Charles S. Rawson who passed away November 3, 1943. The following children survive her: Glen E. Rawson, Eckley; Mrs. Marie E. Dull, Burlington; Mrs. Fern V. Gilliland, Eckley; Mrs. Della 11. Hesse, Wray; Mrs. Doris R. Crabtree, Englewood. She is also survived by one brother Oran C. Mayes of Sioux City, lowa and one sister Mrs. Vera King of San Diego, California; seventeen grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was in apparent good health until a few hours before her death. She was well known and to know her was to love her- She will be sadly missed by all her children, relatives and friends. The Rattler joins the many friends of the bereaved ones in extending sincere sympathy.
We take this means of expressing our sincere appreciation for the many acts of kindness in the recent death of our beloved mother and sister, also or the beautiful floral offerings.

George Manley Hesse, born Nov 5, 1915 in Colorado to August Hesse and Josephine Keenan, died in Cameron County, Texas on Dec 9, 1969, to be buried in Littleton, Colorado. The informant was Mrs. Della Hesse, wife.

EARL

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rawson of Eckley had a daughter on January 13, 1944 weighing six pounds eight ounces at the Yuma hospital

March 1945 "Earl Rawson of Denver transacted business here a couple of days last week and visited with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rawson and sister, Edith."

October 1945 "William Rife completed a deal on Saturday in which he purchased the filling station, house and garage with an acre of ground located where the road into Eckley joins Highway 84. The property was purchased from Ed Rawson who is moving to Sterling. Mr. Rife has acquired the property as an investment The service station and garage are already leased and the house is to be leased to an Eckley resident."

Earl is buried in Wheat Ridge 1919-1996 # 132846539 "Edward E. Rawson, Jr., of Denver. Husband of Catherine Rawson; father of David E. Rawson and Sandra Wright; brother of William G. Rawson and Edith Stillahn; grandfather of Douglas Posell, Scott Wright, Gene Rawson and Andrea Rawson; also survived by 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation, Sunday, 2 p.m. - 6 p.m., at the mortuary. Rosary, Monday 7 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday 10 a.m., both at Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery."


FERN

Violet Fern Rawson and Delbert Frank "Bland" married in Washington COunty, Colorado on June 24, 1937.
In 1940 Yuma County, Delbert 24 and Fern V. 20 are farming.

October 1962 "Mrs. Fern Gilliland received word of the death of a brother-in-law, LHarold Dull. Mrs. and Mrs. Gilliland went to Denver meeting Dale Crabtree and he accompanied them to Moab, Utah for the funeral.

MARIE

Marie E. Dull is in Park County, Wyoming in 1940, 26, married to Harold A. Dull, 30, with Marvin H. 6, Dorothy L. 4, and Norman L. 2.

October 1962 "Mrs. Fern Gilliland received word of the death of a brother-in-law, LHarold Dull. Mrs. and Mrs. Gilliland went to Denver meeting Dale Crabtree and he accompanied them to Moab, Utah for the funeral.

Marie is buried in Moab 1904-1991 # 27282956, with Harold A. 1909-1962.

IRVIN

Irvin is in the Pueblo hospital in 1940, in Yuma County in 1935.

Ervin 1916-1940 is buried in Eckley.

DORIS

Doris is buried in Littleton 1924-2014 # 138691779.

GLENN

Glen Edward Rawson, 26, married Wilmetta Anna Uber on June 16, 1937 in Washington County, Colorado.
Wilmetta is in Joes, Colorado in 1920, 2, with Ceceilia 28 and Ina I. 28. Zelda F. is 4, Glenn L. newborn.
The Uber family was in Logan County, Colorado in 1930, C. A. 39, Ina 38, Fern 14, Wilmeta 12, Glen 10, Charlotte 8, Roand 5, and Kenneth 1.

(Ina is buried in Yuma 1891-1962 # 74381869 "Mrs. Ina (Clow) Uber passed away in Denver, January 3 at the home of a daughter, according to word received by friends in Luray. Five of her seven children live in the Denver area. Mrs. Uber had high blood pressure but had not been ill and her death came a a great surprise.
As a school girl she attended the Luray, Kansas, Grade school and her former schoolmates well remember her, the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Clow. At that time, they lived where the Thomas Spence family now resides.
Mrs. Uber spent several days in her home town a few years ago when the foster mother was brought here, following her death in California, to be buried on their family lot.)
Cecil 1890-1992 is buried in Yuma.

Glen and Wilmetta are farming in Yuma County in 1940, Glenn C. 29, Willmeta A. 22, and Duane E. 1.
