Fred and Norma (Wachs) Hespen
In 1940 Otoe County, Nebraska, Fred Hespen is 42, Anna 35, Raymond 14, Donald 12, Harold 12, Freddy 9, Gilbert 7, and Doris Nn 3, all born in Nebraska.
Norma Wachs is in Kit Carson County in 1940, 9, with Gustav 45, a WPA laborer, born in Kansas and Anna 39 born in Nebraska. Leroy 14, Lois 11, Norma 9, Ivan 3, and Helen seven months.
One tree said she was born in Burlington on August 18, 1930.
One tree said Anna was the daughter of Harm B. Hespen born in Bremen Germany about 1863, and Maria 49 born in Nebraska.
Anna, born about 1900 to "Arm" Hespen and Mary Julifs, married Gustave Wachs in Fremont County, NEbraska May 7, 1925.
In 1959 Long Beach, California, Fredk. F.(Norma W.) Hespen is an operator for Douglas, and they live at 1202 E. 65th.

Cherwhyn Cox was maid of honor; Louise Stone and Sheryl Wamboldt were bridesmaids. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Hespen, 2823 Arbor Road, Lakewood, was attended by Stan Wamboldt, best man, Dale H i l l s and Fritz Hespen, ushers. "

Frederick Erven Hespen of Burlington, Colorado passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 following a lengthy illness.
Fred (as most knew him by) was born April 29, 1930 in Syracuse, Nebraska to Fred and Anna Hespen, he was one of six children. His parents and four brothers preceded him in death and one sister lives in Nebraska. Fred grew up in the Nebraska area, was inducted into the military service as a Marine on January 22, 1952. He was honorably discharged on January 12, 1954 and remained in the reserves until January 12, 1960. He received the National Defense Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the U.S. Service Medal.
Fred and Norma Wachs were married on December 31, 1955 in Long Beach, California. They made their home in California and returned to Colorado in 1976 where he worked for the Yuma County Road and Bridge Department from 1976-1992.
Fred loved to hunt, fish, go prospecting in the mountains, was an avid gardener, and a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was a friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed by all, including relatives from near and far from Burlington, Cheyenne Wells, Colorado Springs, Denver, Kansas, Nebraska, California and Texas.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Norma of Burlington, one sister Doris of Nebraska and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

GILBERT
Gilbert L. Hespen, 71, of Nebraska City, died on Thursday, May 6, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City. He was born on March 26, 1933 in Syracuse. He was married to Lorine Lechner on April 24, 1981 in Wray, Colorado.
He worked at ConAgra for 27 years as a meat cutter and was a former member of the Eagles in Nebraska City and Plattsmouth. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and taking care of his dog.
He is survived by his wife Lorine of Nebraska City; children Mary Grantski and husband Walter of Omaha, Carol Gruber and husband Robert of Manley, Barbara Espinosa and husband Paul of Lincoln, Patricia Hall and husband Stanley of Douglas, Nancy Simmons of Fremont, Bill Wirth and wife Carol of Syracuse, Gloria Mason and husband Lou of Lincoln and Darlene Wirth of Overland Park, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers Bud Hespen of Syracuse and Fred Hespen and wife Norma of Burlington, Colorado; sister Doris Sheehan of Weeping Water, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 10, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Rev. Paul Coen officiating. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse. The family will greet friends and relatives from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, at the mortuary. A memorial fund is being established. Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City is in charge of arrangements. Note: In a letter postmarked May 12, 2004, from Marie Koeppel (Lorine's sister) to Alice (Lechner) Huey, Gilbert had a sudden heart attack and he died before the rescue squad got him to the hospital.

This is another brother
Harold "Bud" Hespen, 85, of Syracuse, passed away on January 23, 2014 in Lincoln, Neb. He was born to Fred & Anna (Beckfelt) Hespen January 29, 1928 in Syracuse. Harold married Carol Parrish on June 6, 1959 in Seneca, Kan. Bud served in the Air Force. Bud belonged to the VFW, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Business Owner.
Bud is survived by sons, Lyle (Teresa) Hespen of Eagle, Joel Hespen & friend Kim Williams of Beatrice;
grandchildren, Bridget (Dustin) Bogle, Amber (Jay Thomas) Hespen, Tracey (Neil) Falk, Wendy (Matthew) Post, Tyler Hespen;
great grandchildren, Lily & Sam Bogle, Brian & Byranna Post, Kayson Hespen, Brandon Keaton, Ethan Falk;
Brother, Fritz (Norma) Hespen; sister, Doris Sheehan. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, brothers, Raymond, Donald & Gillard Hespen.
Loas Wachs married Clarence Winslow, both of Burlington, Colorado on September 13, 1947.
Also recorded in Kit Carson County, LeRoy Wachs married Shirley A. Senti of Georgetown, Colorado, on January 15, 1950 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Norma Wachs and Lora Lee Senti were witnesses.
