"DIED - July 21, 1896, Mrs. Agnes Herring, wife of Frank Herring, aged 40 years.

The funeral and interment took place the following day, Revs. Jonathan Edwards and Wimberly of the M. E. Church officiating.
Deceased was born in Scotland and moved to Nebraska with her parents when a mere child and experienced all the romance and privations incident to pioneer life in the west, at one time having to flee from the arrows of a band of Sioux Indians while two brothers and a sister were over taken and captured, remaining with the tribe many months before the government secured their release.
At the funeral were present, John R. and Peter Campbell, brothers, Mrs. Libbie Herring and Mrs. Dunlap, sisters, one brother and sister being too far away to attend Mrs. Charles Land at St. Louis, and Dan Campbell in Tennessee.
"Aggie" as every one knew her was a noble christian character, one who made the world brighter and better by her having lived in it.
Hers was an exemplary life, and though her voice is now hushed in death, the pleasant look, the kind words spoken while here on earth, can never be forgotten; they will live on forever. The whole community shares with the bereaved father and four little children this irreparable loss and drops a tear of regret and sympathy at this newly made grave. The weary one has been lulled to rest, and her pure soul wafted to that home of summer and song, where by the eye of faith and anchor of hope we may lift the veil, pierce the intervening mists and know as we are known."
