Attending Sunshine elementary school, Virginia rode her horse with her younger brother, Walter every day for the following eight years . Because of the distance from town, in order to attend high school, Virginia had to board with various families in Akron. She graduated from Akron High in 1940. After graduation Virginia was courted by her future husband Eldred E. Foutz , who was working on her father's ranch. They were married March 15, 1941. Eldred began teaching in a country school near Akron but WWII interfered with their plans. Virginia got an emergency certificate and finished teaching that school year. After the war Virginia and Eldred began farming south of Akron and continued to do so until 1969. They then operated and later purchased Akron Propane Service. Virginia was bookkeeper for this business and for the Akron Federal Credit Union until retirement in 1980. They spent the next 12 years traveling abroad and throughout the country in their motor home. Virginia was active in the Akron Methodist church and all of the various organizations her family pulled her into. She was a homemaker, organizer, teacher, confidant and friend to all she knew. Eldred passed away in 1998. Virginia remained at the family home until 2006, at which time she moved in with daughter Marcia and son-in-law Wes on their ranch north of Fort Morgan. She remained there where she enjoyed being outrageously spoiled until her death.
