In 1870 Knox County, Missouri, William A. Elliott is 45, farming, with Caroline 32. William F. is 12, Mary Ann 11, Carrie 10, Alpha Spaulding 8, Sarah L. 6, Freeman A. 1, and a two montho-old daughter.
Next household is Thomas Smith, with Eliza, both 49.

(Rachel had died in 1873, and Mathew had married nancy Ellen (Snowden( 1835-1897._
Mathew Sandifer Smith Sr. 1824-1888
is buried in Knox County, # 53829330.
William proved up a quarter in 31, 4N 46W in 1899 - next to Goggin Hatcher and Carrie Castle and Levant Conley.
His witnesses were Goggin, Lester D. Castle, John A. Conley, and Albert Hollingshead.
In 1900 William is a day laborer, born March 1857, married 16 years to
Rachel C. August 1860, and William O. March 1887, all three born in Missouri. Rachel has had two kids one living.
1900 Eckley "Mr. Smith of Denver is visiting his sister, Mrs. W.F. Elliott. This is the first time they have met for twelve years."
This is J.F. Smith, who went with them to visit Yuma later that week.
James was a grocer in Denver in 1900, with Mary 39 and eight kids.
. He died in 1914, buried in Twin Falls, Idaho # 125287094.
May 10, 1901 "SUNDAY SCHOOL AT ECKLEY -
Last Sunday James Lynch, Presbyterial Sunday School Missionary, organized
a promising Sabbath school at Eckley, to be known as the Eckley Sabbath School.
D.A. Clark was elected superintendent, Mrs. W.F. Elliott assistant,
and Miss Edith Graham secretary and treasurer. While this is not a very
large community and the Sabbath school will not be very large, everybody around
Eckley is interested and consider it a step ahead. It is certainly
commendable to give the children an opportunity to enjoy what their elders
have had in times past, and we congratulate our friends at Eckley.
In response to a request by the people Rev. J. L. Cameron will preach for
them on every other Sunday evening. Announcements made later.
Everybody is invited to attend."
William was a witness in 1902 for the land claim of Jennie Mead (formerly Jennie M. Castle) for land in 9, 3N 47W.
1905 "Mrs. W.F. Elliott has purchased a new top buggy."
1907 "W.F. Elliott has gone to Shilbina, Missouri, to see what the old home folks are doing."
May 1905 the Eckley news "Miss Adelia Brower and Roscoe Elliott left for Wray on No. 14 Wednesday evening, to attend the 8th grade examination."
In May 1906 the Eckley news "Another Yuma county boy has gone out to see for himself what this old world is like. The many friends of Roscoe Elliott, who recently completed a course in telegraphy, will be pleased to learn that he has secured a petition with the C & S at Windsor, Colo. We all hope that when he is president of the road, he will remember us with passes."
In February 1907 the Eckley news section of the Yuma Pioneer " Roscoe Elliott came down from Akron to visit his parents (?) who reside in this hamlet"
In May 1907 "Roscoe Elliott and Adelia Brower were married Sunday evening, May 26, Rev. Winterbourn of Akron performing the ceremony. The bride and groom have the best wishes of their many friends."
In 1910 the Elliott's are in Harlan County, Nebraska. William is running a general store, 52, Rachel C. 49, with WSilliam 22, married two years to Delia M. 20, and Viola M. 1, both born in Colorado.
W. Roscoe Elliott (Adelia) is a conductor for the Lincoln Traction Co in 1914, living at 2310 E. street.
At the same address are Wm. F. (Rachel) a filler for the Lincoln Paint Company.
William R. Elliott proved up a quarter in 19, 4N 45W - sandy and hilly, compared to the earlier claim of William F.
They're in Yuma in 1920, where William is a garage mechanic, 62, Rachel 59. William Roscoe is 33, with Viola M. 11. Roscoe is married but no spouse.
1926 Yuma "C.J. Hutt last week disposed of his interest in the Golden Rod garage to Roscoe Elliott. Mr. Hutt then left for Brainard, Iowa, in which city he expects to make his home. The new firm will be known as Carper and Elliott."
1927 "Louis D. Smith came down from Wyoming Saturday for a few days visit with his sister Mrs. William Elliott."
In 1930 Lincoln, Rachel is 69, married but no spouse,
and Roscoe 43, a mechanic, is widowed. It looks like they have a small rooming house.
William F. Elliott 1857-1932 is buried in Knox County, Missouri, father William A. Elliott ofand Caroline Russell, both of Massachusetts. Daughter Viola Elliott 1892-1894, per # 66999368.
Viola's tombstone says "Dau of W.F & R.C. Elliott" # 118677935.
William Roscoe is in Lincoln in 1940, 53, with Joan 40, and Darlene 3. Rachel is with them 79, and so is Joan's father John E. Barnhill, 67 born in Indiana.
Rachel Constance (Smith) Elliott 1860-1945 is buried in Lincoln # 69924881.
July 9, 1945 Lincoln "Rachel Constance Elliott, 85,
2404 No. Cotner blvd., died Sunday. A native of Plevna, Mo.,
she resided in Colorado from 1890 until 1910, when she came to Nebraska with
her husband, William Francis Elliott, who died in 1932.
Mrs. Elliott had resided in Lincoln since 1910.
She was a member of the First Baptist church of Lincoln,
and was one of the oldest members of Magnolia camp Royal Neighbors of America,
having joined the society in 1908. She is survived by a son,
William Roscoe Elliott, Lincoln, a sister, Mrs. Nancy Poage, Healdton, Okla.,
a brother, Demmitt Smith, Spokane, and one grandchild."
April 11, 1933 "At an 8 o'clock service at St. James Methodist church
Monday evening, Miss Joan A. Barnhill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John E. Barnhill of Ashland, became the bride of W. Roscoe Elliott,
son of Mrs. Rachel Elliott of Lincoln. The lines were read in the presence
of fifty friends and relatives by Rev. J. J. Sheaff, Miss Virginia Barnhill,
sister of the bride, played a musical prologue while guests were arriving,
and music from Mendelssohn for the processional. Miss Barnhill was attended
by Miss Doris Campbell whose costume was of gray and blue.
Howard Barnhill, brother of the bride, served as groomsman.
Daintily dressed in pastel taffeta frocks, nieces of the bride,
Betty Irene Barnhill and Lola Mae Barnhill, were flower girls. Little Miss
Wanda Lea Barnhill carried the ring on a rose.
Sheer blue chiffon over the matching crepe was worn by the bride,
who carried an arm bouquet of roses, baby's breath and valley lilies.
She appeared on the arm of her father, who gave her away.
A reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Wullbrandt,
1225 Pawnee street, followed the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. Elliott will live in Lincoln."
1956 Lincoln "Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Elliott are announcing the engagement of their daughter. Darlene, to Earl A. Bool. He IS a son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bool. The couple plan a May wedding."
Joan's brother ? John "Elmer" Barnhill 101, Lincoln, died Saturday (04/19/2008). Born February 24, 1907 to John E. and Nellie L. (Haskell) Barnhill at Crete. Owner of Barnhill Ice Co. for 52 years and formerly owned a small dairy, Barnhill Acres, for 10 years. Member: Havelock United Methodist Church. ...
