John and Mary Branch


JOHN'S PARENTS
In 1850 Tioga County, New York, John Branch is 13, with David 40 and Clemantha 40. Patience is 19, Abigail 17, and Amelia 3.
Samantha died in 1859, buried in Tioga County # 59210545.

In 1860 Tioga County, David is 52, Maria 40 with Samantha 12 and Betsy 11. They're with Isaac "Orsborn" 84 and Sarah 81.

In 1865 Tioga County, David is 56, Maria 45, with Sarah Osborn 84 and Betsey S. Osborn 15.

(Patience C. Austin 1831-1922 is buried in Elmira, New York, # 43938720.)

In 1880 Tioga County, David is 76, Maria 61.
David is buried in Tioga County, 1807-1883 # 59210541.
Maria, dying June 10, 1898, per # 59210543 "second wife of David."

JOHN'S AUNT AMELIA

In 1900 Vernon County, Missouri, Amelia Ellsworth born August 1848 in New York, is married 21 years but no spouse. Ernest is 20, Ethel 17 both born in New York, and Blanche April 1886 in Kansas.
Elmer was born April 22, 1880 in Elmira, New York to Samuel E. Ellsworth and Amelia Branch.
Blanche was born May 15, 1886 in Chicago to Samuel and Amelia, listed as Turman in
She married James P. Lea on December 31, 1901 in Rogers Arkansas. Blanche Maude Turman, age 68, married Sam Arthur Rector, age 62, in Laclede County Missouri in August 9, 1948.
In 1910 Fort Smith, Arkansas, Jim is 36, Blanch M. 24, Bula 6, Walter 4, Ray 2, and Roy newborn.

She's buried as Blanche Maude Lea 1886-1974 # 35364786 in Prosser, Washington.
In 1855 Spencer, Tioga County, David is 47, Samantha 46, Abigail 21, John 17, and Amelia 7.

John possibly married Elizabeth Robbins born 1846. FindaGrave # 77773174 has her dying in 1876, buried in Tioga County.


MARY

One descendant wrote "John married Mary Theoditia CORKENIER."
She might be the Mary Cornellier in 1850 Monroe County, Michigan. Sister Fannie 1847-1910 is buried in Monroe County, marrying David Larabell.
Antoine Cornelier married Victorine Robidou in Monroe County on June 19, 1838.
She died about 1844 in Monroe County.
Antoine Cournoyer married Monique Solo on October 24, 1845 in Monroe County.
Antonie is 26?? - BUT ONE TREE SAID HE WAS BORN December 2, 1817 -, Monique 36, Susan 11, Fanny 8, Archangel 6, Mary 5, and Matilda 3.
All were born in Michigan.
One tree said Antoine died in 1850, and Monique died in Montreal.


Archangel E. Cutcher died May 5, 1924 in Monroe County, born July 9, 1844 to Antoine Courneyie and Elizabeth Robideaux, both of Michigan.
She had married Alexander LaFountain in Monroe County in March 1876. He was 44, she was 30, both born in Michigan.
Alexander in 1870 was in Monroe County with Adeline and six kids.
Alexander married three times: Olive 1835-1865, Adeline 1833-1875, Caroline Archangela Elizabeth Cornouiller 1844-

The Tioga County, New York cemetery lists "Branch, Rhoda A., w/o Rev John Branch 
b. d. 10/19/1864 Age 39 yrs "

The 1892 Kansas church directory listed John as having been ordained in 1862.

In 1865 Tioga County, John Branch is 27, a Baptist clergyman, widowed, boarding with the Lewis and Samantha Bishop family.

Elizabeth S. Robbins, 19 is in Tioga County in 1865, too. She was there in 1850 and 1860 wtih parents Harlow and Minerva Robbins.

In 1870 Hamilton County, Ohio, John Branch is a preacher, 33, with Elizabeth 34, both born in New York. Ralph 5 in New York and Carl six months old in Ohio.
Possible: "The Southwest Missourian was issued at Marionville, September 27, 1877, by A. N. Odell & Co. J. A. Branch and E. Osborn were subsequently editors."
In 1880 Elk County, Kansas, J. Arlington Branch is a principal at an academy, Mary 35 a teacher born in Michigan, with Ralph R. 13 in New York, Carl C. 9 in Ohio, Lou L. 6 - daughter born in New York, and Ebe E. 1 in Illinois. So they had moved around a lot.


June 21, 1883 - Parsons, Kansas " Rev. J. A. Branch, of Emporia, has been called to the pastorate of the Congregational society of this eity. The Congregational society are soon to commence remodeling and renovating the inside of their house of worship."

January 20, 1884 "Rev. J. A. Branch, the new Congregational minister at Osborne assumed his new duties."
In 1885 Osborne County, Kansas, J.A. Branch is a minister, 48, M.J. 40, Carl C. 15 born in Ohio, Lou D. 10 in New York, Ebe E. 5 in Missouri, Dwight D. 3, and Annie A. six months.

It's possible that he was in Montana in 1892.

November 4, 1898 Yuma "Mrs. Branch and two daughters of Tennessee arrived in Yuma last Thursday and will reside on Hudson farm northeast of town, recently purchased by Mr. Branch, who will arrive in a few days."

On August 23, 1899, Rev. J.A. Branch was to give a prayer at the entertainment supper to be given at the Petrie school house. Miss Anna Branch was to give a recitation>
He spoke at the September 1, 1899 Old Settlers program.

December 29, 1899 "Mrs. Branch of Trinidad, Colo., is visiting at the home of her husband's parents, Rev. and Mrs. John Branch." (This is Lydia, Carl's wife, in Trinidad in the 1900 census, living alone, married seven years. So Lydia was on the census twice once here and then listed with Carl in 1900 Ouray.)


In 1900 Yuma County, John A. Branch is a farmer, born November 1837 in New York, married 22 years to Mary I. March 1845 in Michigan. Ebel E. July 1878 Wisconsin, Dwight D. Sept 1880 Kansas, and Anna B. May 1884 Kansas.

In August 1900 Mr. and Mrs. Fay Lamphere entertained a crowd of young people, including Misses E. and A. Branch.

September 1900

April 1903 "J. A. Branch has disposed of his ranch north of town."

In 1904 a sheriff's sale of land in 32, 3N 47W was made against C. H. Sheerer and J.A. Branch.

In 1910 John is a minister in Denver, with Mary and Anna.

Rev. John Arlington Branch 1837-1914 is buried in Denver # 148650066, with Mary T. 1845-1940 # 148650066.

RALPH

Ralph R. Branch, a laborer born in New York, father J.A. Branch, mother Liddia Robbins, age 26, living in Terre Haute Indiana, married there March 23 1901 to Rebecca C. Hackett, age 21.

In 1910 Vigo County, Rebecca Branch is 29, married but no spouse. She's had three kids, one living. Lawrence L. is 1. Rebecca is a washerwoman.

Rebecca, divorced, died July 11, 1915, to be buried in WoodLawn. Her parents were John Hackett and Lucinda Layer.

ANNA

Anna Branch married Benjamin N. Patton on April 8, 1915, recorded in Denver.

Anna Branch married Frank O. Nacke on April 25, 1917, recorded in Denver.

In 1920 Denver, Mary Branch is widowed, living with daughter Anna A. Nacke 34 and her German husband Frank O. Nacke 48, an upholsterer. Marion June Nacke is eleven months old.

Mary is still with the Nacke's in 1930, age 84. Marion is 11, and Frank Eugene 9.

Anna A., born May 12, 1884 in Kansas, died December 2, 1977 in Los Angeles County.

Frank Nacke, born July 20, 1920 in Denver to Frank Oscar Nacke born in Saxons, Germany and Anna Branch of Osburn Kansas, died in 1940 in Buncombe County, North CArolina, a student, dwowning accident. His mother Anna Nacke of Denver was the informant, and he was removed for cremation.
In 1940 New York City, Anna Nacke is widowed, 55, living with daughter Marion Way 21 and her husband David 21, a printing typeographer born in Montana.

CARL

Carl E. Branch married Lydia Rly Schoolcraft on October 17, 1892, recorded in Arapahoe County.
In 1900 Carl is a job printer in Ouray, Colorado, born October 1864 in Ohio, with Lydia January 1872 in Maryland.

He's buried in Cheyenne, Wyoming 1869-1938 # 29163890, with Grace Lydia (Schoolcraft) Branch 1871-1939

Daughter Vera 1908-1921 is buried in Cheyenne # 29163892.
"Vera Branch, 14 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Branch who reside 14 miles south west of Grover, Colorado, died at 4 a. m. Saturday at the family home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Early-Bricker Brothers undertaking parlors and will be in charge of Reverend Bruce E. Jackson of the First Baptist church. Interment will be at the Lakeview cemetery. "

Son Glen A. Branch 1904-1978 is buried in Medford Oregon 3 105679343.
Son Ross O. Branch 1905-1993 is buried in SeaTac, Washington # 88793731.

EBE

Ebe E. Branch married John G. Potts on July 12, 1908, recorded in Denver.

In 1910 Denver, Eba is 31, married to George Potts, a railroad stenographer, 38 from Pennsylvania. They have marie Anna two months old.

In 1930 Denver, John G. Potts is 58, Ebe 52, Ruth O. 18, and Nettie A. 15.

John George Potts 1871-1933 is buried in Denver # 106413130.

Ebe is widowed in 1940, living with Nettie 25 and her husband Lloyd R. 28 and their two kids.

Ebe Etta Potts is buried in Denver 1878-1962, # 106414204.

DWIGHT

Dwight married Anna Nolin on April 11, 1907, recorded in Jefferson County.
In 1910 Dwight is married, in Nunn, Weld County, Colorado a carpenter, married three years to Anna 31 born in Colorado, with Charlotte, 2.
Dwight David Branch registered for WWI in Jefferson COunty, Colorado, a carpenter born Sept 2, 1879, with Anna Nolin Branch.

In 1920 Golden, Colorado, Dwight is a carpenter, 41, Anna 39, Charlotte 12, Dwight Jr., 9, and Elvita 5.
Dwight was in Jefferson County probate court on a guardianship case in April 1928.


Still in Golden in 1930, Dwight is 50, Charlotte A. is a teacher, 22, Dwight O. 19, and Elvira E. 15.

In 1940 Golden, Dwight is 59, still a carpenter, Charlotte 35 still teaching.

His case was in Jefferson County probate court in June 1960.

Elvera E. Branch married Bruce E. Kent on May 27, 1938, recorded in Jefferson County.

LOU L.

Possibly the Lottie Branch dying November 14, 1885 at age 28, buried in Emporia Kansas 3 91992976 is John's daughter.

The Louisa Branch in Kansas who married Gus Bruensbach is probably not John's daughter. This one's son August born about 1885 married in Marshall County, Kansas in 1909.
