April 1943 "Mrs. Cappie Creter of Laha, Oklahoma, left Tuesday for Benkelman to visit her sister, Mrs. Susie Warning, before returning to her home. She had come to Wray to see her brother, William Adamson, who suffered a stroke two weeks ago. A daughter of Mr. Adamson, who suffered a stroke two weeks ago. A daughter of Mr. Adamson, Mrs. Dolly Warner, of Wheatland, Wyoming,came last week and plans to remain for some time. "

May 1943 Wray "Mrs. Dolly Warren returned Monday to her home at Wheatland, Wyoming, after visiting her father, William Adamson."

"William H. Adamson was born in Illinois December 27, 1872. His parents were George W. and Mary Wayman Adamson. The family moved to Nebraska when he was a child. He married Laura Alice Carter August 14. 1897. They had one step-daughter, Mrs. Dollie Warren of Wray and four sons, James Franklin, William Clifford, Bert Willard and Cecil Wilbur. James Franklin and William Clifford preceded him in death. Bert lives at Eckley and Cecil at Wray.
He homesteaded in Wyoming then for a time he lived in Oklahoma. In 1930 he came to Wray and spent the remainder of his life here. He had a paralytic stroke six years ago and has had poor health since then. The last two weeks he spent with his step-daughter, Mrs. Warren, at whose home he died October 31, 1948, age 75 years, 10 months and 4 days.
He was a member of the Baptist church. He had five brothers and six sisters. Frank Adamson lives at Palisade, Nebraska and John at Ringwood, Oklahoma. Albert and George have passed away. The sisters are: Mrs. August Warning in Benkelman, Nebraska, Mrs. Cappie Crites of Lanoma, Oklahoma, Mrs. Lizzie Potter of Freewater, Oregon, Mrs. Stella Crites of Enid, Oklahoma and Mrs. Blanch Tomlin of Aline, Oklahoma. Frances and Iva preceded him in death. There are 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
His funeral was held at the Lockwood mortuary, conducted by Rev. R. E. Kinsell of the Christian church and burial was made at Grandview cemetery."

"Laura Alice Carter Adamson was born December 28, 1874, in Bible Groves, Illinois, to John and Sarah Carter. At the age of three years, her family moved to Cambridge, Nebraska, on a homestead. In 1891, she was married to Herbert A. Amans, and to that union one daughter, Dollie M. Warren, was born. In 1897, she was married to William H. Adamson, and to that union was born four sons, James and Clifford, who preceded her in death; Bert of Eckley and Cecil of Wray. She moved to Wray, Colorado, in 1923. She lived a good life ready to help where ever there was a need. The last two years, she made her home with her daughter, Dollie M. Warren of Wray. She had been in poor health, but death came suddenly. She departed this life, Monday, February 7th, 1949, at 12:30 p. m., at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 10 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Bert of Eckley and Cecil of Wray; one daughter, Dollie M. Warren of Wray; four sisters, Etta Purvis of Portland, Oregon, Dora Adamson of Ringwood, Oklahoma; Susie Waymen of Jet, Oklahoma, Mary Brobst of Goltry, Oklahoma; one brother, Milton Carter of Free Water, Oregon; several sisters and brother-in-laws; 17 grand children; eight great grand children; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 10th at the Lockwood Mortuary at 2 p. m. Rev. L. B. Snellenberger conducted the service. Interment was made at Grandview."

JAMES

" Mr. John Harper, farmer and stockman of Benkelman, and Miss Nola Vera Adamson, also of Benkelman were united in marriage in Wray on December 23, 1935 by Justice J. F. Garton. :
In 1940 Clifton, Mesa County, Colorado, J. Frank Adamson is 40, born in Oklahoma, Vera Adamson, 26, Colorado, and Donnie L. Adamson, 7, Colorado.

October 16, 1941 "Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Hitchcock Mortuary for James W. Adamson who died Thursday of last week at Hines, Illinois. Kev. Lloyd M. Balfour, pastor of the Wray Christian church, conducted the rites and buual was in Grandview cemetery.
James Franklin Adamson was born on June 2, 1898, at Cambridge Nebraska, and died at the age of 43 years, four months and seven days. He was united in marriage to Nola Smith at Benkelman. Nebraska.
To this union three children were born Inez Stolzer, Dale and Dwayne. Dale preceded him in death in 1925. On July 3, 1933, at Wheatland Wyoming, he was married to Vera Higdon. He has one stepson, Donnie Lee.
During his illness he was a patient for a time in the veterans' hospital at Cheyenne, Wyoming, from where he was transferred to Hines, Illinois. He joined the army in 1917 and served until 1919.
Surviving are his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Adamson, of Wray; a brother, Burt, of Idalia, a sister, Mrs. Dollie Warren of Wheatland, Wyoming, and several less near relatives."

"Miss Vera Violet Higdon of Burlington, Kit Carson County, Colorado, married J. F. Adamson of Kirk, Yuma County, Colorado, July 3, 1933 at Kirk, Yuma County, Colorado in the presence of Mrs. L. I Dawson and Leonard I. Dawson. Both signed as witnesses. Married by County Judge."

William Cazwell Warren born 22 Aug 1882 in Larue County, Kentucky, died 5 Sep 1951 in Wray, buried Wheatland Cemetery Wheatland, Platte County, Wyoming, MEMORIAL ID 84524851.

" Graveside services were held Monday at the Wheatland cemetery for William C. Warren, a resident of Wray, Colo., the Rev. Charles Thomas officiating.
A member of the Baptist church he is survived by his wife Dollie May Amons; four sons, Dean and Glen who are now serving in Korea, Eldon and Everett of Wray, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Neda Baldwin, Mrs. Myrtle Stiner and Mrs. Irene Baldwin, all of Wray, and seven grandchildren. Schrader's were in charge of arrangements.


Mrs. Dollie Warren succumbed in the Wray Community Hospital, in Wray, Colorado, February 27, 1964 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Warren has resided in Wray for the 23 years and was a Wheatland resident prior to that time.
The deceased was born in Cambridge, Nebr., December 20, 1894 to Hubert and Laura Amons and was a member of a Protestant church.
Graveside services were conducted by Rev. Dale Scheffler at the Wheatland Cemetery at 10:30 a.m., March 2.
Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Dean. Survivors include three sons, Eldon and Glen of Wray and Everett of Ovid, Colo.; daughters, Mrs. Floyd Baldwin of Brush, Colo. and Mrs. Homer Baldwin and Mrs. Ralph Stiner of Wray; brothers, Burt and Cecil and eleven grandchildren.

April 12, 1945 "Mrs. Juanita Herrin, daughter of Mrs. Dollie Warren of Wray, and Floyd Baldwin, farmer of north of Laird, were married Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock by Judge Currie at St. Francis, Kansas.
Accompanying the bridal pair were the bride's sister, Miss Irene Warren, the groom's brother, Homer Baldwin, gunner's mate third class, and Bill Chartler.
After the ceremony the wedding party returned to Wray and were honor guests at a supper at the Warren home. On Sunday there was a wedding dinner at the home of the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Adamson with thirty relatives and friends in attendance.
The couple will make their home on the Baldwin farm north of Laird."

Patricia Ann, 3-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Steiner, succumbed Sunday, February 9, 1947 after a brief illness. The baby became 111 the last of the week with a cold and developed bronchial pneumonia from which she failed to recover. She was born November first at Wray.
Survivors include the parents, a sister, Beverly, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Warren and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Steiner.
Services for the infant were held Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the Lockwood Mortuary followed by interment in Grandview cemetery."

"Dean Mondell Warren, 36, died unexpectedly Saturday morning at the home of his mother, Mrs. Dolly Warren, in Wray. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Robert Seals, were held Tuesday aftenyx>n at the Lockwood Mortuary and he was taken to Wheatland, Wyo., Wednesday for burial there. Mr. Warren was bom March 24, 1916, at Slater Flats, Wyo., a son of William C. and Dolly Warren. He made his home in Wheatland from the age of 8, following the painter's trade for several years. He was inducted into the army in 1942 and took his training in Texas. He was raised to the rank of staff sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart and Medal for wounds received during the Normandy invasion. He also received the Combat Infantryman's badge and the American theater ribbon. Survivors are his mother, Dolly Warren; three sisters, Mrs. Floyd Baldwin, Mrs. Homer Baldwin and Mrs. Ralph Steiner; three brothers, Sgt. Eldon Warren, now in Korea, Cpl. Glen Warren and Everett Warren, and other relatives.

"Judith Kay, the 2 - year -old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Steiner of Wray, drowned in a small pool in a drainage ditch near the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Dolly Warren, in south Wray, about 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, August 2, 1950. The water hole, not much larger than a puddle, had formed during the runoff of water in the weekend rains.
According to members of the family, Mrs. Steiner and her two daughters and a sister, Mrs. Floyd Baldwin and children, were at the Warren home where the ladies were doing some laundry and the children were playing. The children had all been in the house for a lunch. Judy was the first child served and apparently slipped out of the house. As soon as she was missed, the ladies began looking for her, and she was found in the water by her grandmother and aunt. There was a ball in the water also, and it is thought she may have tried to retrieve the ball out of the water. She could have been in the water only a very short time, but she was apparently dead when she was found. The child was rushed to the Community hospital where a physician tried every known means to revive her, without success.
Judy was born at Wray on July 22, 1948. Besides her parents, she is survived by one sister, Beverly, 5; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Steiner, and her great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Minton, besides many less near relatives.
A sister, Patricia, preceded her in death.
The funeral services will be at the Lockwood Mortuary Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock."

"Funeral services for Alice Louise Adamson were held Wednesday, September 9 at the Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Charles Shaklee officiating. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery. Alice Louise Holt, daughter of James and Mable Holt, was born on November 11, 1923 north of Laird. The family moved to Haigler, Neb., where Alice attended school and grew to womanhood. April 14, 1943 she was united in marriage to Cecil Adamson at St. Francis, Kansas. Cecil and Alice then moved to Yuma County where they lived the rest of their lives.
To this union four children were born, Larry, Jerry, Roger, and one daughter, Joyce.
Mrs. Adamson was preceded in death by her husband on February 24, 1975.
Alice Louise Adamson departed this life on Monday morning September 7, at the Wray Community District Hospital at the age of 57 years, nine months and 29 days.
She leaves in her passing three sons, Larry Adamson of Stratton; Jerry Adamson and Roger Adamson, both of Wray; daughter Mrs. Joyce Jacobs and husband Willard of Commerce City; brother Jack Holt of Norcatur, Kans.; two sisters, Mrs. Permelia Workman of Haxtun, Mrs. Francis Jensen of Stratton, Nebraska; one half sister, Mrs. Susie Bottenfield Of Cedaridge ; six grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, friends and other distant relatives."

"Doris Marie (Adamson) Hall was born on April 8, 1936 in Idalia, Colorado to Bert and Maudie (Claridge) Adamson. She passed away on January 24, 2015 at the Yuma District Hospital in Yuma, Colorado at the age of 78.
Doris attended school through the ninth grade. She married Walter Hall. She was the mother of Albert Jacobs, Stanley Jacobs and Margaret Poole. Doris worked as a cook and a nurse's aide in Wray, Colorado. She liked to read and being surrounded by people. She loved her time spent with the family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to watch wrestling and football. Doris and her son, Albert were known to participate in a few electric shopping cart races while at the stores while granddaughter Val would chase them down and try to restore some order to their shopping.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Maudie and Bert Adamson; sons, Albert Jacobs and Stanley Jacobs; sisters, Dorothy Akes and sister, Lyla Hackett.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Poole of Simpsonville, South Carolina; brothers, Delbert Adamson of Laird, Colorado; sisters, Betty Owens of Eckley, Colorado and Velma Foxworth of Warren, Texas; granddaughters, Valerie Hardesty of Kansas City, Kansas; Lisa Cook of Mauldin, South Carolina and Amy Poole of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Dona Jacobs of Yuma; grandsons, Jimmy Poole of Wellington, Colorado; Stanley Jacobs of Yuma, Colorado, Allen Jacobs and Morgan Hardesty of Denver along with numerous great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday January 27, 2015 at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Dave McQuisten officiating. Interment followed at the Eckley Cemetery in Eckley, Colorado. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.

Mrs. Dee Akes of the Hillrose community, the former Dorothy Louise Adamson of Eckley, died at 1:15 a. m. Wednesday in the Washington County Public hospital in Akron. Her death followed a ten day illness and she had been hospitalized since Sunday. Mrs. Akes was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Adamson of Eckley. She was born October 19, 1934, at Idalia and grew up in the Eckley community. She was married to Dee Akes of Otis and the couple had one son, Walter Eugene, 6 months old. Besides the husband and son, survivors include her parents; a brother, Delbert; and four sisters, Lila Mae, Betty, Velma and Mrs. Doris Jacobs. The Lockwood mortuary -will be in charge of the services that will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Mortuary. She's buried in Wray, # 16981349.
Her husband Dee 1931-1966 is also buried in Wray, #16981341.

Betty Fern (Adamson) Owens born May 6, 1944 to Bert Ellsworth and Maudie Frances (Claridge) Adamson in Wray, Colorado. She passed away on August 23, 2020 at the Yuma District Hospital in Yuma, Colorado.
A Receiving of Family & Friends will be held at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado on Sunday, August 30, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Eckley Community Center in Eckley, Colorado on Monday, August 31, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Jonathan Shaw officiating.
Interment will be held in the Eckley Cemetery in Eckley, Colorado following services.
Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
