Her sister Emma, per the tree, married Jasper F. Stiverson and they're in Lansing precinct in 1920, with Jasper Harold and Raymond born in Missouri, and Nita B. 3 born in Colorado. Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, April 24, 1969 J.W. (JIM) EVANS DIES; SERVICES HELD HERE SATURDAY Funeral services were held Saturday morning, April 19 at 10:30 o'clock from the Holyoke United Methodist church for James W. (Jim) Evans, 77, who passed away April 16, at Melissa Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. Rev. Gerald Dingman, pastor of the church, officiated. Burial was in Holyoke Memorial Park with the Thompson Mortuary in charge of arrangements. James William Evans was born to James and Margaret Welch Evans March 23, 1892, in Carroll County, Missouri. He lived near Norborne, Missouri and attended the Cherry Valley School. He was one of 10 children. Since the recent death of his brother, R.B. (Dick) Evans, only five sisters survive him. He joined the Miles Point Methodist church near Norborne, Missouri, when he was a youth. Mr. Evans was united in marriage to Winnie Gladys Hall in Armel, Colorado, February 9, 1916. Both daughters born to the union survive. The family moved to Colorado in 1927 where Jim worked for the Holyoke Lumber Company. He was also engaged in the dairy and cafe business and operated poultry processing plant. Mr. Evans loved to hunt and fish and live close to nature. He had been in ill health for some time, but continued to look forward to getting better so he could go fishing again. After the death of his brother last week, he grew steadily worse and passed away at the hospital on April 16. He is survived by his wife, Winnie; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Izora) Dolezal, Julesburg, and Mrs. B. Frank (Christina) Adams, San Francisco, California; five grandchildren, Ray Adams, Long Beach Junior College, California, Brice Adams, of the US Air Force, stationed in London, England, and Benita Adams, San Francisco; Susan Frances Dolezal of CSU in Fort Collins and James Craig Dolezal, Julesburg; five sisters, Maude Herriman, Eupha Gregg, Bessie Henks and Ethel Steele all of Norborne, Missouri and Ellen Abraham of St. Francis, Kansas, other relatives and friends. |

Abraham, H. W. (w) Ellen - 2S 1E Armel, Rt 4, Rents, Farmer, (Margaret Ann).Malinda Harper Browning, daughter of F.M. and Rachel Browning was born near Highland, Kansas on April 12, 1869. Here she grew up to womanhood. In 1890 the departed came to Colorado and took up a homestead near the Browning school house. The winter of the following year she taught the Brown School. In 1897 she was baptized by immersion on the south fork of the Republican river. On June 22, 1899 she was united in marriage to Andrew H. Abraham. The ceremony was performed near Jaqua, Kansas. For the last six years the deceased has been troubled with asthma. Early on Sunday morning, March 16, she fell and broke her right hip. Soon thereafter she contracted pneumonia. In spite of all the efforts of the attending physician and two nurses she fell asleep quietly and peacefully early in the morning of the 23rd of March. The evening before her demise her soul had been committed into the hands of her God by prayer and supplication. The departed reached the age of 71 years, 11 months and 11 days. |
