Mary J. Titus, Witherbee

She's most likely Mary Jane Dart, born April 19, 1833 to Anson and Sally (Hoyet) Dart in Delaware County, New York, who married Alden Bennett Titus.   

Betsy D. (Titus) Dart 1789-1874.  Betsy's son Ornan 1835-1892 had a son Balfour Wheeler Dart 1868-1915 who's buried in Wauneta, Chase County, Nebraska. 

Stephen (who also married a MARY)  and Alden were brothers, one of eleven of Jacob and Hannah (Losee) Titus of Delaware County New York.

In 1860 Delaware County, New York Stephen Titus is 42, Mary 38, with Clark A. 9, Willet S. 7, Fannie 5.

In 1870 Delaware County Stephen is 57 ?, Mary 48, Clark 19, Fanny 15, and George 9.

A Fanny Titus married Karl Whener December 13, 1875

Possibly the Mary Titus in 1880 Weld County, 58, New York, married to Stephen, 60, living with children Clark A. 29, George S. 19, and Fannie L. 24 a music teacher.

Fannie A. Titus married W. A. Freeman September 24, 1884

Willet L. Titus, born about 1854 in New York, died in Longmont, per the 1880 census, of "cancer of lewer"

She's with Clark in  1885 Boulder County, mother, widowed - also in the household is Mary Titus 11, adopted, "Walt" Titus brother, 2, and Ella October 1885, sister.

Mary cash-claimed 160 acres in 31 and 32, 5N 42W, in 1891

Next to her, also in 1891, was Oliver S. Rankin  - might be related somehow

 Oliver S. Rankin, quartermaster of the Tenth Indiana, with his characteristic bravery and energy, organized his train for the purpose of advancing or retiring as the circumstances might require, and promptly supplied the men of the Tenth Indiana with cartridges — from 60 to 75 rounds of which were fired by them during the action.

Boulder 1892 "Stephen Titus and daughter, Miss Mary, went to Denver Monday to visit Mrs. W. Freeman and see the conclave."

Delaware County New York in Sarah Bush's will probated in May of 1895:

"... give and bequeath to my Nephew Clark Titus of Canfield, Colorado, one hundred dollars; and to Willett A. Titus, son of said Clark Titus, fifty dollars; and to Ella Amelia Titus, daughter of said Clark Titus fifty dollars..."

There's a Mary Titus buried in Mountain View, Longmont, dying April 7, 1892 age 70 yrs, 2 ms, 4ds, and Stephen Titus - Jun 29, 1818 - Mar 5, 1897.

1897 Longmont "Mrs. Mary Titus and daughter Katie returned home from Denver Saturday evening."

Clark Titus, 1851 - 1904 is also there, with Ella A. Titus - 1850-Oct 2, 1884 "wife of C.A. Titus"

"DIED - TITUS - At the University Hospital at Boulder, Tuesday, Sept 20, 1904, of cancer of the face, Clark A. Titus, aged 54 years.  Mr. Titus has lived in the vicinity of Longmont nearly as many years as the city is old.  Was a farmer by occupation, his home being six miles south of Longmont.  He has been fighting the cancer for several years.  He leaves a son and daughter.  The remains were brought over by B.A. Holly an undertaker of Boulder, and funeral services were held at the residence, Wednesday, interment taking place at the Longmont cemetery."

In 1880 Delaware County, New York Alden B. 53, Mary J 43, have George H. 15, Minerva E 13, Kenneth J. 8., and Catherine 8.

In 1900 Boulder Alden B. Titus, born Nov 1826 in New York and Mary March 1833 New York, have grandson Bert Bennett born 1890 in Colorado with them.

In 1900 Boulder Mary and Alden are living with Katie Bennett, 38, widowed, and her son Herbert 19.

In 1918 Kenneth M. (Phenia) is president and general manager of the Longmont Bottling Works, living at 410 4th Avenue.  Mary J. (widow Alden B.) is at mf ?? 224 Petit.  - in 1916 Mary boards at 224 Petit.

May 20, 1921 Longmont "DIED - In Longmont Monday, May 16, 1921 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Katie Bennett, Mrs. Mary Jane Titus, aged 88 years ,1 month and 27 days.  Mrs. Titus has lived in Longmont for the past thirty-five years, but has been in poor health of late years, having suffered several strokes of paralysis.  She is survived by one son, K.M. Titus, and two daughters, Mrs. Katie Bennett and Mrs. J.S. Wiltsie, all of Longmont."

This lady was Mary Jane (Dart) Titus, wife of Alden Bennett Titus (b. Nov. 12, 1826 - d. Jul. 7, 1911).

Alden and Mary Jane share a stone in Mountain View Cemetery.

Her daughter, Catherine Moxley (Katie) Titus was b. 1872 in NY.
Her other daughter, Minerva Elizabeth Titus, wife of John S. Wiltsie, was b. Nov. 11, 1866 in NY.
Her son, Kenneth Murray Titus, a twin to Katie, was born Jan., 1872 in NY.
 

George S. Titus is in Idaho in 1900, widowed, with Raymond R. Apr 1885 Colorado, Myrtle July 1888 Colorado, and Grace, Dec 1892 Washington.

In 1910 Tehama County California George S. is married to Lena 37, with Roy 6, Elva 3, and Harry 1.  Raymond, 25, is with them.

1887 U.J. Ulman two miles west of Holyoke went to Indiana and brought back a bride.  Gene Titus, of Indiana, married Mr. Ulman's sister a few days ago, and this pleasant couple have come to Logan county to make their future home.

February 1888 In a scuffle in Gillett Brothers' store, Ed Gillett threw Eugene L. Titus on the floor in such a manner that the small bone of his leg was fractured.

1889 Eugene Titus leaves today for his old home in Peru, Ind.  Gene has been here since October '87.
