James married Lucinda Rowe December 25, 1879 in Scotland County, Missouri. She was born May 24, 1859 to Nathan and Margaret (Hilton) Rowe.
In 1870 Scotland County Nathan "Row" is 50, Mrgt 35, Fred K. 16, daughter M.I 14. George 12, Lucinda 11, Mtilda 10, Julian 8, Catharine 6, and daughter M.A. 4.

Ira proved up 240 acres in 17 and 18, 5N 43W in 1916, added another 160 acres Stock in 1921.

1909 Wray "James Shaw and son, Ira, was in attendance of the district court Thursday, being witnesses in the contest case. They live on the Weatherbee ranch, 28 miles northwest of town."

Ross Shaw married Rena Gordy March 18, 1914 in Holyoke
December 31, 1914 "Mrs. James Shaw, who has been sick for some time, died at her home near the cement school house on Sunday, December 20, and was buried Tuesday. She leaves a husband and several children and one sister to mourn her departure." (the Cement school district #117 was in the far northeast corner of Yuma County)
Lucinda and Theron are buried in Lamar, Nebraska. Lucinda's cousin Sarah Ann ROWE Hall 1839-1933 is also buried in that cemetery.
In 1920 Yuma County James M. is widowed, living with Ross L. 35, his wife Rena A. 28, and Lester L. 3.
The John W. Shaw, divorced, hired man for the Walter Bradford family next to Ira Shaw, almost certainly is James' brother. He's 67, born in Illinois.
John died March 23, 1942 in Peoria County Illinois
He's buried in Fulton County, Illinois.
" I remember John Shaw as a medium size man, quick with his movements. A strong Democrat - liked to talk politic, liked horses and knew them quite well. He also knew the Bible very well and kinda liked to argue. He said about what he thought; said he never hit a man that didn't go down, cause I don't know how he did after the man got up; he never said. He loved to read the newspaper and read it all. He stayed with us at times, he was very honest man, but also could tell you some tales. His brothers helped clear the timber off Duck Island, some used horse teams and some used ox teams."

Dies In Imperial, Nebraska Hospital After Short Illness ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 8, 1980, at Thompson
Mortuary Chapel in Holyoke for Dora M. Rowe, 96, who passed away
Saturday, January 5, at Sheridan Manor Nursing Home. Rev. Eldon
Shoemaker officiated at the services. Interment was in Holyoke
Memorial Park. Thompson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Dora
M. Gordy was born in Scotland County, Missouri on August 26, 1883.
She died at Holyoke, Colorado, January 5, 1980 at the age of 96
years, 4 months and 15 days. She was married to Edward A. Rowe on
January 26, 1904 at Memphis, Missouri. They moved to Yuma County,
Colorado in 1918, then moved to Holyoke in 1943. Seven children were
born to this union. Preceding her in death were her husband and
three sons. One of the sons died at birth. Paul A. Rowe and Irvin
Rowe both died in 1955. She is survived by one son, Elmer A. Rowe of
Holyoke, three daughters, Edna Hayes of Wray, Dorene Dodson of
Commerce City, and Irene Hunt of Henderson, Texas, nine
grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, three great great
grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Rena Shaw of Wray.

The vacancy will be created by the retirement of the Honorable Rex A. Shaw. The vacancy will occur on Feb. 9, 2011
