In 1880 Delaware County, Iowa Harrison Norris 25, and Jane M. 22, both born in Iowa, have Tommy F. 5 and Joe Robert three months.
In 1891 Harrison did a cash claim for a quarter in 31, 7N 44W, Phillips County, and then in 1907 he proved up a quarter in 9, 6N 43W (that's about six miles north of Joseph's claim)
In 1900 Phillips County Harrison Norris born April 1854 in Iowa, has been married 27 years to Maddie, March 1858 Iowa. They have adopted daughter Mamie S. April 1889 in Colorado, daughter-in-law Mary E. July 1871 Iowa - (Mary's been married two years, and has one son - probably Floyd W. April 1900 Colorado) and daughter-in law Flora J. Aug 1880 Kentucky, (also married two years with one child - must be Milton September 1899 Colorado)

officiating, Mr. Thomas Norris and Miss Flora Davis both of this
county. The young couple are well and favorably known in the county
and have a host of friends who wish them a happy and prosperous
wedded life. We extend our [drawing of a hand] in congratulations.
Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, August 14, 1969 Funeral services were held Friday, August 8, 1969, from the First Christian church for Mrs. George T. Glover, 89, who passed away at Sheridan Manor nursing home, Monday, August 4, 1969, following a lengthy illness. Rev. Don Gordon, minister of the church, officiated at the services. Interment was at the Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were in charge of Thompson Mortuary. Flora Jane Davis was born to John and Sarah Davis on August 16, 1880, at Olney Cave, Kentucky. She moved with her parents to the Bryant community in 1887 by immigrant train, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Thomas Norris. To this union two children were born, Dock Milton Norris, Riverside, California and Elva Fay Norris Thomas, Denver. Mr. Norris died December 13, 1900. She was united in marriage on February 4, 1904 to George T. Glover, at a double wedding ceremony with Elmer Harmon and Blanche North. Mr. and Mrs. Glover had five children: Mrs. Paul (Gladys) Bruchez, Manhattan Beach, California; George John, who passed away October 5, 1951; Mrs. W. Max (Hazel) Starbuck; Dale Glover, both of Holyoke; and Mrs. George B. (Vivian) Scott, Sterling. Mr. and Mrs. Glover established their home on a ranch southeast of Holyoke immediately after their marriage and reared their family there. They moved to Holyoke in 1939. Mr. Glover passed away March 4, 1954. Mrs. Glover at one time was a member of the Holyoke Presbyterian church but later joined the Holyoke Christian church. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. She is survived by four daughters and two son, already mentioned; two brothers, Ezra Davis, Wheatland, Wyoming; Alvin Davis, Loveland, Colorado; and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Ethridge, Spokane, Washington; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 11 great, great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Relatives here from a distance to attend the funeral were: Mrs. Elva F. Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Thomas and family, Denver; Mrs. Paul Bruchez, Manhattan Beach, California; Mr. and Mr. L.J. Ehlers and daughters, Millard, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ahnstedt and daughters, Longmont; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Glover and family, Englewood; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bullock and Stacy, Colorado Springs; Mr. and Mrs. George B. Scott and sons, Sterling. Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Davis, Wheatland, Wyoming; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Davis and Cecil and Mrs. Lela Boncer, Loveland; Mrs. Fern Foote, Estes Park; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Davis, Hayes Center, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Davis, Lesley and Roma Kay, Denver; Mr. and Mrs. Delford Bowman and Fred Peterson, Wray; Mrs. Gladys Shaw, Oral Shaw, Imperial, Nebraska; Alva Shaw, Benkelman, Nebraska; Mrs. Nancy Case and Nannette, San Jacinto, California; Mrs. Russell Wieland, Fort Collins; Mrs. Etta Freatman and Russell Coates, Sterling; Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bullock, Wray; and Mrs. Arthur Creveling, Imperial, Nebraska. ----------------------------------------------
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 6, 1971, from Howard's
Berkley Park Mortuary, Denver, for Elva F. Thomas, 70, who passed
away Sunday, October 3 at St. Joseph Hospital, Denver, following a
stroke.
Rev. Carl Boonstra of East Side Baptist Church officiated. Interment
was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Elva Fay Thomas, daughter of Thomas and Flora Norris, was born
southeast of Holyoke on June 29, 1901.
She was united in marriage to Arthur M. Thomas in 1916. To this
union four sons and one daughter were born.
The family lived in various Colorado areas, and for a short time in
both Wyoming and Missouri where they farmed. In 1942 they moved to
Denver where they were in the grocery business.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965; a son Harvey in
1941 and a son Howard in 1944.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Vern Kramer, Holyoke; two sons
Morgan F. Thomas, Denver, and George A. Thomas, Paris, France; two
brothers, Dock M. Norris, Riverside, California and Dale Glover,
Holyoke; three sisters, Gladys Brunchez, Manhattan Beach,
California, Mrs. W. Max Starbuck, Holyoke and Mrs. Blaine Scott,
Fort Collins; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Relatives attending from Holyoke were Mr. and Mrs. Vern Kramer and
family; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kramer; Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Kramer; Mr.
and Mrs. Roger Kramer; Mrs. W. Max Starbuck and Mr. and Mrs. Dale
Glover.

Mrs. Flora Norris married George T. Glover February 4, 1904.
In 1910 Flora and George T. Glover are living in Phillips County with Flora's Dock 10 and Elva 8 Norris. They've added Gladys 5 and George J. 3. ( Elva married Arthur Morgan Thomas August 23, 1916 in Holyoke, and one tree said she died October 3, 1971 in Denver)

In 1910 Yuma County Joseph 30, with Madie 25, both born in Iowa, have Floyd 9, born in Colorado.
Mary E. Norris divorced Joseph R. Norris in Phillips County in 1915.
Harrison and "Jennie" are still in Phillips County in 1910, with Blanche 9, and three school-teacher and one lumberyard proprietor boarding with them.
In 1920 Harrison and Jennie are in Denver, and Blanche and Ernest Calkin with their daughter Coral E, eleven months, an an orphan Marshall Schermerhorn, 3.
(A George H. Schermerhorn claimed land in 6N 44W section 33 in 1920.
| Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, September 18, 1930 AGED HOLYOKE RESIDENT KILLS HIMSELF WITH PISTOL "Doc" Norris, Veteran Rancher And Early Settler Here, Takes Own Life At Noon Today Harrison "Doc" Norris, aged about 75, former prominent rancher and well known resident of this community for many years, committed suicide by shooting himself through the head with a small calibre pistol shortly before noon today. Death was practically instantaneous. The accident took place at the Arthur Thomas home in this city. Mrs. Thomas is a granddaughter of Mr. Norris, and the aged gentleman had been making his home with the Thomas family for a short time. Until recently he had been living for some time with an adopted daughter, Mrs. Fred Peterson near Laird, Colorado. Mr. Norris left a short letter, which was largely of a personal nature and was addressed to relatives, but which indicated that he was extremely despondent and that he feared that he might have to be taken to some institution for care. A call was sent to Coroner Harry B. Radford at Haxtun, but he was out of the city and Mrs. Radford came here to represent him. The case was suicide beyond any possible doubt, of course, and the body was ordered removed to the Colver undertaking parlors. Harrison Norris, familiarly known as "Doc" during the many years of his residence in Phillips County, was born in Iowa on April 6, 1852, and had thus reached the advanced age of more than 78 years. He great to manhood on an Iowa farm and at the age of 20 was married to Miss Jenny Town. Three children were born to them, Thomas Franklin, Joe, and a daughter, Blanch. Thomas Franklin passed away in 1900 at the Norris ranch near Holyoke and the other two children and Mrs. Norris now make their home in California. Mr. Norris and his family moved to Nebraska in 1886, residing there for a few years before coming to Phillips County where he spent almost all of the remainder of his life. The ranch twelve miles south of Holyoke was well known to all of the early settlers here and its hospitable, public spirited and neighborly owner enjoyed the highest respect of everyone whose good fortune it was to know him well. Doc Norris was energetic and capable and his ranching operations were very successful until he was beset by ill health and other troubles which made his later years perhaps more unhappy for a man of his high spirit and ambition than would have been the case with most of the people. With his going the last of the family of nine of which he was a member departed this life. Mr. Norris was known as a good father to his children and merited their love and respect. He was a neighbor and friend who measured up well to the extraordinary high standard required of and so often achieved by the early settlers of the west, and with his going another of the true pioneers had dropped from their rapidly thinning ranks. |

In 1913 the Yuma County sheriff announced the sale of Joseph's land for a debt in favor of C.M. Morry.
Floyd William Norris registered for WWI in Fort Riley Kansas, saying he was born April 24, 1900, and was a truck driver for the Q.M. Dept. at Fort Riley. His mother was Maddie M. Metras? of Holyoke, Colorado,
There's a Joseph R. Norris in the state penitentiary in 1920, 40, born in Iowa, single.
In 1930 Jenny Norris, 72, is living with Ernest and Blanche Calkins in Mariposa County, California. Kids are Coral E. 11, Cullen E. 7, -both born in Colorado - and Betty D. 5 born in Washington. Marshall Norris, 13, is also with them.
In 1940 Yuba City, Sutter County, California Joe Norris, 61, divorced, Iowa, is a janitor for the WPA. His widowed mother Jennie, Iowa, is with him. They said they were there in 1935, too. Marshall Shermerhorn, 23, is also with them - no occupation. Marshall said he was in Riverside in 1935.
Marshall, born March 28, 1916, died March 6, 1984 in Shasta County. He's buried in the Shasta Hospital Cemetery.
Blanche Fern Wedding, born April 1, 1901, died Nov 3, 1987 in El Dorado County, California, father Norris, mother Towne.
Harrison's cash claim in 1891 in 7N 44W section 31 was only a few miles from George W. Norris 1891 proving up in section 10. They must have been related.
