One tree said Orpha died September 2, 1919 at Friend, Nebraska. The Gilbert Library of Friend wrote "The only thing I have is handwritten notes that someone made many years ago with births and deaths, it shows that in the September 11, 1919 newspaper Mrs. O.D. Hoschoner died in Colorado and is buried in Gilbert-Hulse Cemetery but no other information is written"

In 1910 Stephen A. 38, Nebraska and Emily 38, born in England, Hoschouer are in Yuma County, with Sylvia E. 12, Albert S. 10, Clifford D. 6 - all three Nebraska- and son Carroll 4, Winnifred 2, and Glen D. 1, the last three Colorado.

Stephen proved up 160 acres in 2 and 11, 5N 43W in 1911, and another 160 acres in 2 in 1916.

In 1920 Kit Carson County Stephen and Emily have Albert 20, Clifford 16, Clarence 13, Winifred 12, Glenn 10, and Mildred 8.

In 1930 Kit Carson they have Clifford 25, Winifred 22, Glen 21, and Mildred 20.

Stephen A. Hoschouer - 1872 -1943 and Emily 1872-1951 are buried in Burlington.

Sylvia Estella Hoschouer was born May 5, 1898 in Friend Nebraska and married Arthur Wesley Sweet May 15, 1915. They had John Nelson Sweet November 1, 1916 dying January 30, 1927, Walter Aaron Sweet, Dorothy Velma Sweet December 16, 1919 in Holyoke, Viola Almeda Sweet, Audrey Mae Sweet, George Samuel Sweet April 25, 1924 died April 1, 1834, Lillian Sweet, David Leslie Sweet March 17, 1927 - September 12, 1927, Oran Daniel Sweet, Sadie Darline Sweet, Hyrum Stephen Sweet, Oliver Thomas Sweet February 5, 1834 - March 11, 1934, Otis Burnard Sweet Feb 5, 1935 - March 10, 1934, and Paul Wesley Sweet.

Arthur Wesley Sweet - Oct 26, 1891 - Feb 14, 1938, Sylvia Estella Sweet May 5, 1898 - Dec 9 1969 and a bunch of their kids are buried in Grady County Oklahoma Pocasset cemetery. So is Arthur's mother Ellen May (GIGGEY) (Sweet) Shaw- Jun 24, 1871 - Jun 15, 1955.

Andrew L. Sweet proved up a quarter in 19, 5N 42W - only a few miles away, and Aaron Sweet two quarters in section 5, 5N 42W in 1918.

"Alva" April 1878 Nebraska and Effie Hasehauer Dec 1880 Nebraska, are in Saline County Nebraska in 1900.

In 1910 Yuma County, following Stephen, James A. 32 Hoschouer, and Effie E. 30, both Nebraska, Ira 9 Colorado, Irma 7 Nebraska, Cleon 4 Colorado, and George E. 2 Colorado.

James proved up a parcel in 11 and 12, 5N 43W in 1911.

Effie died in 1915, and is buried in Holyoke.

James registered in Phillips County, saying he was born April 28, 1878, and his nearest relative Ira.

In 1920 Phillips County James A. is widowed, with Ira, Erma, Cleve, George, Roy E. 10, and Alvin E. 6.

In 1930 Roy E. 21 and Helen L. 19 with Lucile E. thirteen months are in Haxtun precinct, the household following Helen's parents James and Carrie Baldwin, who have a cream station. Roy works there.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR GEORGE HOSCHOUER

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Colver Funeral Home for George Hoschouer, with Rev. P.H. Evans in charge. Mrs. Charlene Martin and Mrs. Nash McMurdy sang, accompanied by Mrs. P.S. Struble. Pallbearers were Leo Austin, Burl Austin, Claud Bovee, Gordon Krint, Art Ferguson and Al Churning.

George Earl Hoschouer was born November 26, 1907 at Holyoke, Colorado. He was united in marriage to Miss Vera Austin of Ovid Colorado on December 11, 1926. They resided at Ovid until 1940, then they moved to Fort Logan. Last summer he obtained leave of absence from the Remington Arms Plant, where he worked to help his father-in-law with the harvest. On July 19, a truck tire which he was changing blew off and cracked his skull. He regained consciousness only for a few minutes at intervals since then and passed away at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, October 7, 1945 in the Colorado General Hospital.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife Vera, five daughters; Pauline, 17; Dorothy, 12; Donna Dee, 10; Alice Faye, 7; Dorris, 4; two sons; Loren 16; Donald 15. Also, one sister, Mrs. Erma Phillips of Cerro Gordo, Illinois; four brothers; Ira of Richland, Washington, Cleve of Wilment, Illinois; James of Pasadena, California; Roy of Peoria, Illinois and many friends. His mother and father both preceded him in death.

Ira E., born about 1902 in Colorado, is is Hayes Center, Nebraska in 1930, married to Eva B. 22, and they have Warren M. , fourteen months.

They were in Frontier County Nebraska in 1935, and in 1940 are in Custer, South Dakota. Ira is a mechanic for the C.E.C. Forest Service. They have Warren, 11, Marjorie J. 10, Wilma I. 7, all three in Nebraska, and Zona B. 4, Colorado. Also with them is Odren Muller, 24, brother-in-law, born in Missouri, who was also in Frontier County in 1935.

Oregon death index has Ira Elm Hoschouer, spouse Eva, dying August 26, 1977 in Lane County.

Ira E., 1901 -1977 and Eva B, 1907-1972 are buried in Centennial, Arapahoe County, Colorado.

Zona Belle Hoschouer Leslie 63, of Coal Creek Canyon died Sept. 27, 1999 Services were Oct. 1, with burial at Crown Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Leslie was born in Haxtun on March 17, 1936. She married Richard Leslie. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband; sons Jay of Northglenn and Jerry of Washington; daughter Joan Strickland of Arvada; brother Warren Hoschouer of Arkansas; sisters Marjorie Dumolt of Oregon and Wilma Stewart of Colorado; two grandchildren.

Wilma Ione Stewart of Cedaredge, a homemaker, died Jan. 31, 2000. She was 66.

Services were Feb. 5 at Taylor Funeral Service in Cedaredge. There was cremation.

She was born Wilma Ione Hoschouer in Frontier County, Neb., on April 5, 1933. On Aug. 6, 1953, she married Bruce Stewart in Hawaii.

She was a former Denver resident. Her interests were needlework, sewing, knitting and ceramics.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Kirk, Crawford, and Kerry, Arvada; a brother, Warren Hoschouer; a sister, Margie Dumolt, Eugene, Ore.; and four grandchildren.

Roy E. Hoschouer died June 1961 - obituary is in the Denver newspapers of June 16, 1961. The stone in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Centennial, Colorado just has his name - 1909 -1961.

Warren Hoschouer, age 81, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Warren was born December 29, 1928 in Maywood, Nebraska, to Ira Elmer Hoschouer and Eva Mullen. He is survived by his wife Barbara Sue Hoschouer; 3 sons; Jon Hoschouer of Elwood, IN, Michael Hoschouer of North Little Rock, AR and Gary Hoschouer of Little Rock, AR; 2 daughters; Jody Hoschouer Rassmussen of Roseville, LA and Cathy Hoschouer Rogers of Sherwood, AR and 7 grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be conducted

Edward in 1900 is in Cass County, Nebraska born Dec 1868 in Nebraska, Mary Ann Feb 1874 Iowa, Charles J. July 1896 and Orpha E. Mar 1899, both Nebraska.

Following James on the 1910 Yuma County census is Edward Hoschouer, 40 widowed, Nebraska.

Edward L. Hoschouer proved up a quarter in 17, 5N 42W in 1911.

The 1927 Denver directory has an Edw L. Hoschouer living at 600 S. Vine.

Orpha in 1920 is on South Coyote Street in Wray, married to Oliver H. Churning, 34, a house carpenter.

In 1930 Phillips County Oliver and Orpha are farming, and still there in 1940.

C.J. HOSCHOUER SERVICES HELD

Services for Charles J. Hoschouer of Montrose, who died at 1:02 p.m. March 15 at Colorow Care Center in Olathe, were conducted by High Priest L.D. Short and Elder Ron Davis of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Tuesday, March 18 at 2 p.m. from the Montrose Valley Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment was in Valley Lawns Cemetery, with "Taps" sounded by Irene Martinez.

Born July 3, 1896 at Murray, NE, Charles J. Hoschouer was the son of Edward L. and Mary E. [Shebal] Hoschouer. Following the death of his mother on November 30, 1900, he made his home with his paternal grandmother, Orpha Hoschouer and an uncle, Delroy Hoschouer at Friend, NE.

In 1910, he moved to Somerset and Maywood, NE. He attended schools in Friend and Maywood, NE. He came to Colorado in 1913, locating first at Holyoke , where he made his home with his father, and was graduated in 1916 from Phillips County High School in Holyoke. He served with the Colorado Guard in the summers
of 1915, 1916 and 1917.

A veteran of World War I, Mr. Hoschouer entered the service on August 27, 1918 with the horse drawn artillery. In November, 1918, he was reassigned to Field Hospital Co. 250 and to Ambulance Co. 252 as driver. He was discharged March 25, 1919 from FCDA Russell, Cheyenne, WY.

On July 7, 1920, Mr. Hoschouer was married at Holyoke to Iva Fern Holmes, who died October 27, 1982. He is survived by a son-in-law and daughter, Emery and Fay Okeson, Montrose; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Orpha Churning of Holyoke, and three brothers-in-law.

Mr. Hoschouer taught in the schools of Phillips County in 1916 and 1919 -20, in Yuma County in 1920 and 1921. He was employed on the Cheyenne Indian Reservation from 1922-29. Also he was engaged in the farming business in Wallace County, KS and Cheyenne County, CO from 1929 to 1944.

An employee of the Indian Service and Department of Agriculture for 35 years, Mr. Hoschouer came to Montrose in 1944 and was with the Department of Agriculture here from that date until 1962.

A member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since June 30, 1920, he served as an ordained minister for 30 years, filling the offices during this time of priest, elder, patriarch, evangelist, pastor,
district president, bishop's agent, branch and district counselor.

George 32 Hoschouer in 1940 is in Sedgwick County, working on the roads. Vera is 31, and they have Pauline 12, Loren 11, Donald 9, Dorothy 7, Donna Dee 4, and Alice Fay 1.

Dorothy Oaks, 77, of Oskaloosa, and formerly of Denver, Colorado, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, Iowa. She was born on January 10, 1933, in Ovid, Colorado, the daughter of George Earl and Vera Alfreda Austin Hoschouer. On September 27, 1950, she was united in marriage to George Oaks at Ventura, California. Following their marriage Dorothy stayed home to care for her children and home. In 1972, she went to work for Western Electric in Broomfield, Colorado, and continued with the company when they were purchased by AT&T and she retired in 1990. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and listening to country music.

Her family includes her husband, George Oaks of Oskaloosa; two sons and their wives: Terry and Carol Oaks and Larry and Lori Oaks, all of Oskaloosa; two daughters: Patricia Oaks and Brenda Ham, both of Denver, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three sisters: Pauline (& Tommy) Daniels of Henderson, Colorado, Doris Hawkins of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Alice Benabedes of Englewood, Colorado.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Donna Dee London; and two brothers: Donald and Loren Hoschouer.

There will be a visitation Friday, October 22, 2010 from Four O'clock in the Afternoon until Seven O'clock in the evening. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Ten O'clock in the Morning.

In 1909 among those named in the illegal vote allegations were Ed Hoschouer, A.J. Hoschouer, Bert Hoschouer, and Effie Hoschouer, all of Valley precinct.

George born May 1883 is in Saline County in 1900, with Orpha, born Feb 1842 in Michigan, Minnie G. October 1875, Delany I. December 1880.

In 1919 Dr. G.D. Hoschouer was named treasurer of the Eckley Oil and Land Company.

He registered in Eckley, saying he was born May 6, 1883, and married to Mae Belle.

In 1923 Dr. Hoschouer was commenting on the scarlet fever quarantines in Eckley.

Alice Hoschouer was an eighth grade graduate at Eckley in 1923

In 1927 Geo D. (Mae Belle) is a physician in Denver, living at 624 18th Avenue.

In 1930 Geo D. (Mae B.) is a manager of Western Medical Clinic, living at 1513 Stout. Merle F. Hoschouer, a stenographer, also lives at 1513 Stout.

The 1932 physicians' directory of Denver has G.D. Hoschouer at 2611 W. 27th Avenue. He and Mae B. have Merle, now a beauty operator, with them.

Merle F. Hoschouer married James M. Leonard September 19, 1935 in Edgewater.

In 1940 Fraser James Leonard, 26, born in Colorado, is a carpenter, with Merle 25, Nebraska

1933 Dr. Hoschouer on behalf of defendants testified that while he was a student at Cotner University, Lincoln, Nebraska, he was instructed in the medical department that gold and sodium chloride was a proper treatment for syphilis; that he graduated from there in 1910, and had been a practicing physician ever since; that he had used gold and sodium chloride many times in all these years with good results, and is still using it; that he became associated with appellant West in 1929, and the state board of medical examiners objected to his being associated with a layman and revoked his license for six months, then reinstated it, and he has been practicing ever since; that appellant West is not a doctor, but a graduate pharmacist.

1935 "immediately took the body to Granby, Colo., for Coroner G. W. Hoschouer to release it"

In 1940 Granby, Grand County, Colorado George, a "medical doctor in private practice" is 57, Mae 55.

The next household is Geo E. Hoschouer, 29, Nebraska, a carpenter, with Mary 22, born in Ohio - she was in Denver in 1935. Geo. E in Grand County in 1935. They have Sue A. 2, born in Colorado.

George D. -1883-1952 and Mae Belle 1885-1947 - are buried in the Fraser Colorado cemetery.

Merle F. Leonard - Mar 15, 1912 - Dec 11, 1960 and James M. Leonard July 28, 1913 - Mar 2, 1991 are also in Fraser.

In 1945 Geo E. and Mary are in Denver, living at 4968 Alcott. Geo is a tramway operator.

George Earl Hoschouer 1910-1968 is also buried in Fraser.

Isaac Jonathan Delany Hoschouer registered in Wray, saying he was born December 11, 1880, and was a mail carrier.

In 1920 Wray Delroy is 39, Leila D. 28, Ethel R. 3, Lyle D. 1, and Kenneth B. three months.

They're in Frontier County, Nebraska in 1930, working on the railroad. Ethel R. 14, Lyle D 12, Kenneth B 10, Sylvia D 8, Minnie M. 5, and Delma H. 3. all born in Nebraska -

Isaac and Leila are buried in Maywood Cemetery, Frontier County, Nebraska, as is Kenneth B. -1919 -1998.

ASHLAND, Nebraska -- Dorene Hoschouer, 93, died at Ashland Care Center in Ashland on April 27, 2011.

Dorene was born July 19, 1917, to Calvin and Edith (Fitzgerald) Rucker in rural Hayes County, Nebraska. Dorene attended school in Hayes County and graduated from Hayes County High School in Hayes Center. Dorene graduated from Greeley State College in Greeley, Colorado with a degree in elementary education. Dorene taught school for more than 30 years. She taught rural schools in Hayes and Chase County. She taught school for 10 years at Imperial Grade School and taught 10 years at Greeley, Colorado Elementary Schools.

On August 13, 1943, Dorene was united in marriage to Lewis Hoschouer in McCook, Nebraska. To this union twin daughters, Karen and Sharon, were born in Denver, Colorado. (son of Leslie W., who was son of Isaac J. and Lydia M.)

While in Greeley, Colorado, Dorene was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and belonged to the pitch and pinochle card clubs of the church. Dorene was a member of the Retired Teachers and Greeley Elks Club. In McCook, she was active at the Heritage Senior Center.

Dorene enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bowling and dancing. She enjoyed sewing for herself and family.

Dorene was preceded in death by her husband Lewis; daughter, Sharon Frakes; sister, LaVonne Allen; brother, Vernon Rucker; and her parents.

Dorene is survived by daughter, Karen Radenslaben and husband, Richard of Lincoln, Nebraska; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be given to the Heritage Senior Center or to McCook Christian Church.

Funeral services are Monday, May 2, 2011, 2 p.m., at McCook Christian Church in McCook with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. Burial will follow in the Hayes Center Cemetery.
