John Tanner, Steffens

In 1880 Cass County Nebraska Asker Taner, 49, and Mary 38 have Cloey 5, Jhon (sic) 4 and Minny 2.

In 1900 Otoe County, Nebraska John born April 1877 and Anna April 1881 Nebraska are farming, and they have Viola August 1899 - and even a 35-year-old farm laborer.

One tree said Annabel was born April 23, 1881 in Otoe County Nebraska to Herman and Sarah Jane Victoria (Marr) Holthaus.

January 1910 "John Tanner was in the city (Yuma) Tuesday, from his ranch eleven miles south.  While in town he subscribed for the Pioneer."

June 1911 "John Tanner's boy, whose face was burned by an explosion of a stove, is improving rapidly."

John proved up two quarters in 4 and 9, 1S 48W in 1913.

1913 "Miss Edith Tanner returned to her home at Omaha, Tuesday morning, after a short visit with her brother John, south of town, and her sisters, Mrs. E.P. Main and Mrs. Stoll."

1915 "Lincoln, December 30 - 'Rube' Dickinson, noted vaudeville actor, from this city, who was killed Monday in Kansas sas (sic) was burried (sic) at Murray.  Walter (Rube) Dickinson was a cousin to John Tanner, living south of Yuma"

John registered in Yuma County, born April 12, 1876, and nearest relative was Annie Belle Tanner, wife.

In 1920 they have Viola Francis 20, Roy Alfred 18, and Ruby Fern 15.

Ruby F. Tanner married James Smith April 23, 1923.

In 1930, still in the Steffens area, they have Ray A. 29 - no occupation, and they're alone there in 1940.

Viola had married Isaac E. Widgery, and they're in the Valley precinct north of Wray in 1930, with Annabelle M. 7 and Nellie R. 3.

On the same page in 1940 is Roy, 39, with Almeta 29, Iowa, Donald 9, and Joy Lee ten months.

Almeta Hathaway is with Charles A. and Dora B. Hathaway in 1920 and 1930 Hyde, Washington County.  In 1930 she's 19, with no occupation.

John 1876-1948 and Anna Belle 1881-1969 Tanner are buried in Yuma. 

So are Roy 1901 -1960 and Almeta Marie 1911-2001 Tanner,

and Viola F. 1899-1988 and Isaac Widgery 1883-1963.
