1913 "the arrival of a fine boy at the home of John Steffens, on Sunday, June 8th. Dr. Miller was in attendance and reports all doing nicely."
He was appointed postmaster at Steffens August 25, 1915, until January 18, 1917 when Furness C. Kelso took over.

Marcia Di Carlo Szecsy went to be with her Lord on August 8, 2009. Marcia was born to John and Marion Halstead Steffens in Wellington, Kansas on November 27, 1917. The family moved to California when Marcia was quite young and she attended and graduated from San Bernardino High School. She has always enjoyed sports and played on the tennis team while in high school. She met and married Tony Di Carlo shortly after high school. Tony was the son of one of the original grape growing families in the Rancho Cucamonga area, and Marcia enjoyed raising their two children, Nick and Saralee, in the country atmosphere of Etiwanda. She was active in the community being a Cub Scout Den Mother and P.T.A. President. She also belonged to Sons of Columbus Council #92 of Ontario. Her home was always open to her children's friends and Sunday meant a big pot of spaghetti to feed anyone who showed up. She loved people and especially her family. She was known for her sparkling eyes and beautiful smile. Tony Di Carlo died at a young age and Marcia married Ferenc Szecsy. They moved to Banning where they could raise some animals and Marcia could continue to enjoy the rural life. Frank and Marcia loved to dance and enjoyed many a Sunday with their friends at the Hungarian Club. Marcia was still showing off her dance steps at 90 years old. She had gotten involved in real estate and had a broker's license which kept her active into her later years. Another activity that she loved was bowling. She and her daughter bowled together in Banning and Redlands until Marcia was eighty years old. Marcia was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister, Mary R Dodson and her brother Rev. George Edgar Steffens. She is succeeded by her son Nick Di Carlo (wife Irene) of Portland, OR, daughter Saralee Duffy (husband Don) of Upland, CA. She has eight grandchildren: Michael Duffy(wife Brenda), Mark Duffy(wife Cindy), Dawn Duffy, Cathy Haus (husband Steve), Marci Di Carlo, Nicki Mattecheck, Toni Di Carlo, Mary Di Carlo, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Jennie Maraway Steffens born Aug 11, 1868 in Wittmund, Lower Saxony, Germany, married George Walter Atkinson Nov 4, 1889 in Cass County, Iowa. The record says Meroway J. Steffens, father John E. Steffens, mother Maria Heiken. George W. Atkinson's father was Geo. Atkinson, mother Susannah Schneider.
George was born in Canada, immigrating about 1869.
1907 "G.W. Atkinson has just completed a large house and barn on his farm south west of town."
1908 "George Atkinson is building an addition to the C.O. Johnson residence. He is none of your try-and-fit carpenters, but lays his work out by the square and as the country develops we predict for him a great contractor" - Hyde area news.
They were farming in Yuma County in 1910, George 46, with Susan M. 18, Nellie J 16, and Lawrence W. 10.
1910 Nellie Atkinson was one of the three graduates of the first commencement of the Yuma High School.

1912 "Mrs. Geo. Atkinson left Wednesday afternoon for Atlantic, Iowa where she was called by the death of a sister."
1913 "Misses Mae and Nellie Atkinson departed Friday for an extended vacation trip. Their first stop was at Atlantic, Iowa and from there they will go up into the Dakotas and Minnesota. These young ladies are successful school teachers of Yuma county, and richly deserve the pleasant outing they have planned."
George W. Atkinson proved up a quarter in 32, 2N 48W in 1914 - about four miles southwest of Yuma.
1914 George was the first general business manager of the Yuma Farmers Milling and Mercantile Co-Operative Company, and on the board of directors.

George died in 1932, and is buried in the Yuma cemetery.
Jennie is widowed in 1940 Yuma - 602 South Birch - with grand-daughters Marjory J. 17, and Irma R. 15
Jennie died in 1943, and is buried in Yuma.

Lawrence in 1920 was married to Ruth B., and they have Beryl A. one month.
In 1940 he's in Sterling, a garage mechanic, married to Hazel 36. Rubylea 17 Nebraska and Virginia 16 Colorado, Munson, daughters are with them They had been in Fort Morgan in 1935.
One tree said he married Mildred E. Johnson in Yuma Oct 10, 1946, was in Pueblo in 1948 and 1958, and died July 1974 in Canon City.
Lawrence W. Atkinson - dying 1974 - is in the Yuma cemetery.

Robert Lawrence Atkinson, age 90, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012 in San Antonio. He was born on January 11, 1922 in Yuma, CO, to parents, Lawrence and Byrce Atkinson. Robert was retired from the U.S. Army after serving for 20 years. He worked in Civil Service for 20 years in the 90th Arcom Army Reserve Unit in San Antonio. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and step-son, Keith Allen McCune. He is survived by his wife, Hilda Atkinson; Step-sons, Michael McCune and wife, Emily, Duane McCune and wife, Colette; daughters, Glenda Atkinson, Shirley Atkinson; sister, Irma Mountain; five grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
One tree said he married Neta Irene Landis in Pueblo in 1946, divorced in 1973 in El Paso, remarried in 1975.
