In 1885 Decatur County Mathew 46, Margaret 43, George 18, Emma 17, Marga A.
15, Lydia E. 13, Mathew 11, Amos 9, Mary 7, Jane 7, Frank 5, Chillotie 3, and
Joe 1.
Mathew P. Ryan 1837- Mar 10, 1899 and Margaret J 1841-1899 are buried in Elk
Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa 6497144
Frank and Susie married in Union County, Iowa January 1, 1908.
In 1910 Frank W. 31 and Susie E. 26 are in Decatur County, Iowa, with Fern E.
eighteen months.
1914 "Mrs. M.G. Allen, who had been visiting with her sister, Mrs. Frank
Ryan, on the Names farm, the past two weeks, departed Wednesday evening for her
home at Haigler, Nebr."
Frank proved up 320 acres in 23 and 26, 1S 48W in 1916.
In 1920 Yuma County Frank is 40, Susie E. 36. They have Fern Ellen 11,
Iowa, Nola Francis 8, Nebraska, and brother Amos M. 45, Iowa.
Next household is Joseph O. Ryan, 36, Iowa.
In 1930 Yuma County Frank and Susie have Fern 21, Nola F. 19, and brothers
Amos and Joseph with them.
In 1928 and 1934 Frank W. Ryan leased section 16, 1S 48W (a "school section")
Joe 56 and Amos M. 65 are still farming in Yuma County in 1940 - Joe was in
Dundy County Neb in 1935
Frank and Susie are in Big Thompson precinct, Larimer County in 1940, farming
- they said they were in Yuma in 1935.
One tree has a photo of a tombstone - can only make out the Ryan name, but
FAG says Susie Essa (Priest) Ryan Sep 29, 1883- May 17, 1965 died in Loveland,
and Frank Wiley Ryan 1879-1948. 41411929
Fern Ellen (Ryan) LUKAS 1908- 8/29/1993 is in the Johnstown Colorado
cemetery, per the Weld County Genealogical Society listing. husband Harry
August Lukas -1908-1975. They married February 6, 1938.
JOHN PRIEST was born in Washington County, Iowa, June l9, l856,
and departed this life at the family home near Arispie, Iowa, March
l, l924, aged 67 years, 8 months and l2 days.
In l865 he moved with his parents to Decatur County, Iowa, where
he grew to manhood. When a young man he gave his heart to Christ and
remained faithful to the end. He was united in marriage to FANNIE
BRUNER, March 23, l879. To this union were born twelve children,
eight girls and four boys. One girl, LAURA MAE, preceded the father
in death at the age of eleven months. He moved with his family to
Union County, Iowa, in November, l89l, where he had since made his
home.
He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife and eleven
children, 2l grandchildren, 3 sisters, 3 brothers and a host of
other relatives and friends. The children, all of whom were present,
are MRS. LEOTA ALLEN, of Parks, Neb.; W.E. PRIEST, of Creston, Iowa;
MRS. SUSIE RYAN, of Yuma, Colorado; J.L. PRIEST, of Kellerton, Iowa;
MRS. JANE ALLEN, of Bayard, Iowa; EARL PRIEST, of Shannon City,
Iowa; MRS. CLARA LAWSON, of Shannon City, Iowa; PEARL, BERTIE,
FANNIE and FLOYD, at home.
Funeral services were held at the home on March 4th, conducted by
Rev. Ellen Johnson, and his remains were laid to rest in the Green
Lawn Cemetery at Afton, Iowa
FANNIE BRUNER was born in Dubuque County, Iowa, September l3,
l86l, and departed this life November l, l924, aged 63 years, l
month and l9 days, at the home of her sister-in-law, MRS. FRED
BRUNER near Wheatland, Wyoming, where she was called a short time
before by the sickness and death of her brother.
At five years of age, she moved with her parents to Decatur
County. She was united in marriage to JOHN PRIEST March 23, l879; to
this union were born l2 children: MRS. LEOTA ALLEN, of Parks,
Nebraska; W.E. PRIEST, of Creston, Iowa; MRS. SUSIE RYAN, of Yuma,
Colorado; J.L. PRIEST, of Kellerton, Iowa; MRS. JANIE ALLEN, of
Bayard, Iowa; LAURA MAE, who preceded the parents in death at the
age of ll months; PEARL in nurses' training at Creston, Iowa; EARL
PRIEST, of Shannon City, Iowa; MRS. CLARA LAWSON, of Shannon City,
Iowa; BERTIE, teaching at Bayard, Iowa; FANNIE, in college at
Chillicothe, Mo., and FLOYD, at home. All of the children were
present. Three of the children, SUSIE, PEARL and FLOYD, were at the
bedside at the time of her death. Her son, W.E. thinking she was
better, started for his home the evening before.
Her husband preceded her in death March l, l924. MRS. PRIEST gave
her heart to Christ and was a loving Christian mother and spent much
time in the study and meditation of God's word and prayer, and will
be greatly missed by all who knew her. She moved with her family to
Union County, Iowa, November 5, l89l, where she has since made her
home.
Besides her eleven children, she leaves to mourn her departure,
twenty-one grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers and a host of
other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held at the home on the farm near
Arispe, Iowa. The services were conducted by Miss Ellen Johnson. The
remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the Green Lawn
Cemetery at Afton, Iowa.

Elk Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa has Amos M. Ryan 1847-1962 on a stone with Joseph
O 1883-1969
Nola F. 1911-1937 is in that cemetery, too, and Henry Ryan - 1909-1909 - that
two trees say is the son of Frank and Susie.
