FRED REAMS
When Ora Fred Reams registered for WWII in Idaho, he said he was born Nov 2,
1890 in Franklin, Nebraska.
In 1900 there are two Reams families - probably brothers - Bart Nov 1858 in
Iowa and his family, and
B.H. Sept 1849 Kentucky has been married 25 years to Louesa Nov 1854
Michigan. They have Elsie Feb 1886 , A. I. July 1888, Fred Oct 1890, Verna
Dec 1892, Harold Jun 1895, and Otis Jan 1898 - all Nebraska.
In 1895 Wayne County Iowa, Leata Kelso is newborn, with Lewis M. 27 and Alta
25. Siblings are William, Cora, and Furness.
In 1900 "Lecta" Kelso is with grandparents Robert D. and Millie A. Kelso in
Franklin County, Nebraska. Brothers. William N. 12, Furnace 8, and Fred S.
3.
In 1910 Fred 19 is married to Electa 16, living with her stepfather Sam
Shepherdson, 63, and his wife Alta 39 in Franklin County, Nebraska. Fred
S. Kelso, 13, stepson, is also there, so Electa is probably a Kelso.
Ora proved up two quarters in 18, 1S 48W in 1914.
1915 "Miss Marie Reams, of Elgin, Nebr., is visiting with her sister, Mrs.
W.P. Shaw. The guest arrived Wednesday from Otis, at which place she had
been visiting Mrs. Ray Haverland." - Maybe a distant cousin.....
Ora registered for WWI with an address of Riverton , Nebraska, saying he was
born in Riverton, and had a wife and two children.
In 1920 Yuma FRED Reams, 29, Nebraska and Electa 25, Iowa, have son Fay 9,
Nebraska, and Geraldine 6, Colorado.
In 1930 Fred O., Electa L, Leonard F. 19, and Louisa G. 16 are in East
Moscow, Idaho
Electa L. Reams 1894 - 1942 and Fred Reams 1890-1982 are buried in Moscow
Cemetery, Idaho.
One tree said Fred married Lucile Nidiffer Cunningham July 7, 1949.
So are L. Fay Reams 1910-1990 and Gudrun Reams 1908-2003 - Leonard Fay Reams
had married Gudrun Giebertson in Latah Idaho, in 1935.
Probably Geraldine married Thomas Papineau, and they're in North Moscow,
Idaho in 1940 with three kids.
Electra's mother Alta Shepherdson is widowed in 1920, with her father Joseph
Brumbaugh, 90 in Franklin County. In 1930 and 1940 she's living with
daughter Alma Eckhoff and Herman in Franklin County,
Nebraska.

FRED KELSO
Electra's brother Fred Seltzer Kelso registered in Yuma County with a
Steffens address, saying he was born Sept 24, 1898 in Allerton, Iowa, was
farming by himself, nearest relative Clara Sylva Kelso of Steffens.
He's in Ashland precinct, Washington County, Colorado in 1920, 22, with Clara
C., 23, Kansas. Lewis F. 4 and Durward R., 2, were both born in Nebraska

FURNESS KELSO
In 1912 the Yuma county commissioners paid $2.20 to the Yuma Mercantile Co.
for supplies for F.C. Kelso- so he was in need...
Electra's other brother Furness C. Kelso proved up 320 acres just south of
the Reams', also in 1916.
Furness Crayton Kelso, of Steffens, registered saying he was born May 15,
1892 in Warsaw, Iowa, and had a wife and three children.
Probably married Merle Banks, who was with S.M and May B. Banks in 1900 in
Franklin County, born Feb 1895. They were in Smith County, Kansas in 1905.
1911 "Mr. F. Kelso expects to leave this week for Smith County Kansas, where
he will shuck corn this winter."
Furness was appointed the Steffens postmaster January 18, 1917, and served
until August 9, 1917.
In 1920 Furness 18 and Merl 15 are married, living in Smith County, Kansas. -
on the same page as Samuel 58 and May 52 Banks.
Furness is also in Washington County in 1920, with Merl L. 24, Alta M. 9,
Erma L. 8, son Ora K. 4, and Max L. 2.
Max Leroy Kelso married Norma Helen Wilshusen Feb 23, 1939.
Alta Mae married Elmer G. Tieman, and they were in Fort Morgan in 1940 -
she'd buried in Fort Morgan 70200825
Furness and Merl are in Routt County, Colorado in 1940, saying they were in
Morgan County in 1935. F.C. is a farm laborer, and they have Richard 17
and F.C. Jr. 15. (an O.P. Kelso had a dairy in Hayden, Routt County in
1934, with the directory saying he arrived there in 1888)
SSDI has Furness dying December 1969, last address of Lakewood, Colorado, and
Merl, born January 15, 1894, dying April 1987, also last address of Lakewood.
Richard Banks Kelso, born Dec 30, 1922, died in Utah in 2004. - names
mentioned Amanda Hartshorn, Steven Hartshorn Kelso, Sharon Alvey, Carrie
Carlson, Kimberly Babbel, Rachel Sanford.
Richard and Ruby M. Kelso 1924-2009 are buried in Lake Hills, Sandy, Utah.
Cathrine Sue Hartshorn Kelso, 40, passed away March
13, 2001 in Sandy, Utah. Born June 27, 1960 in
Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard B. and Ruby Brown
Kelso.
She worked for Salt Lake Water Company for 19
years and took an early retirement for health
reasons.
She is survived by; son, Steven Michael Kelso-Hartshorn;
granddaughters, Makaila and Shaylee Kelso all of
West Valley City; daughter Amanda Sue Hartshorn;
parents Richard and Ruby Kelso, brother, Richard
"Rick" and Edna Kelso of Sandy; sister Sharon K.
(Bruce) Alvey of Gresham, Oregon; several nieces and
nephews, and her dog and faithful companion Mystic.
As per her wishes she will be cremated.

FURNESS C. KELSO JR., 68, of Lakewood died July 15, 1993 at home. Services
were July 19 in Olinger Mortuary, Chapel Hill. Burial was in Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens. Mr. Kelso was born in Fort Morgan. He was a long-haul truck
driver. Survivors include his wife, Grace; one son, Douglas of Lakewood; one
daughter, Kayalyn White of Greeley; and 10 grandchildren.

1911 "Sam Banks is enjoying a visit from his daughter and her husband, Mr.
and Mrs. Kelso, of Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Will Kerst are also visiting
there, while looking at the land in this vicinity."
| Samuel Banks was born at Brownstone, Indiana on 3 May 1852. He died
31 December 1939 in Yuma, Colorado. He was the youngest son of John and
Mahalia Banks. He moved to Omaha, Nebraska with his parents in 1865.
Later he moved to Riverton, Franklin Co., Nebraska. On 14 January 1877
he married May Bell Coates in Riverton, Franklin Co., Nebraska. They had
three sons and five daughters, two of whom precedes their father in
death. One son died in infancy and one daughter at the age
of 20 years. They moved to Yuma, Colorado on 1 August 1910. May's twin
sister Jennie Coates Burrows lived south of Yuma. May Belle Coates was a
daughter of Thomas Coates, born 12 May 1857 at Shanesville, Tuscarawas
Co., Ohio. May Belle Banks died 27 February 1935 in Yuma. Her twin
sister died 9 June 1935.

Mrs. Samuel M. Banks died at the family
home in this city Wednesday Feb. 27, 1935 at the age of 77 years, 9
months and 15 days. The funeral was held at the Ritchey Funeral
Parlor Friday afternoon 1 March, Rev. H. C. Alley officiating and
the interment was at the Yuma Cemetery. May Belle Coates was born 12
May 1857 to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Coates at Shanesville, Ohio. Shortly
after her birth her parents moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where she
and her twin sister attended school and grew into womanhood. She was
married 14 Jan. 1877 at Riverton, Nebraska to Samuel M. Banks. To
this union eight children were born, one son dying in infancy and
one daughter at the age of 20 years. She with her family moved to
Yuma, Colorado August 1, 1910. Here they homesteaded about 12 miles
south of this city, where they weathered the hardships of pioneer
life. For several years she had been in railing (sic) health. Sunday
Feb. 21, she suffered a stroke and departed this life 27 Feb. She
was truly and sincerely Christian and especially manifested her
faith in God in the last days of her conscious life. She was been a
member of the Methodist Church since 1907. She leaves her faithful
husband, Samuel of Yuma; her twin sister Mrs. Jennie Burrows living
south of Yuma and six children - Fred A. and Fornie A. and Mrs. Mary
Bannick of Yuma, Mrs. Merl Kelso of Fort Morgan, Mrs. Flossie Wyatt
of Denver and Mrs. Bernice Grid of Denver. There are 18
grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Yuma Pioneer, Thurs., 4 Jan. 1940. Funeral services
for Samuel M. Banks, who expired Sunday at his home in Yuma
after a prolonged illness, were held Tuesday afternoon at the
Ritchey Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. J. E. Canady. Burial was
in the Yuma Cemetery. He was past 87 years of age. Samuel M.
Banks was born at Brownstone, Indiana on 3 May 1852. He was the
youngest son of John and Mahalia Banks. He moved in 1865 with
his parents to Omaha, Nebraska , where he spent several years
and then moved to Riverton, Nebraska. On January 14, 1877, he
was married to May Bell Coates and to this union were born three
sons and five daughters, two of whom preceded their father in
death. His wife died on February 27, 1935. He is survived by
four daughters and two sons - Fred A. Banks, Pete Banks and Mrs
H. L. Bannick of Yuma, Mrs. James E. Wyatt and Mrs Ray J. Ellis
of Denver and Mrs. F. C. Kelso of Yampa; also 17 grandchildren,
19 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Yuma Pioneer, Thurs., 1 May 1930, Leona Mary Banks died
26 April 1930 at the Colorado State Hospital Denver at the age
of 41 years, 9 months and 4 days. Funeral services were held
from the family residence 19 miles southwest of Yuma Monday
afternoon and the interment was in the Otis Cemetery. Leona Mary Duby was born 30 July 1888, in the state of Kansas. She was
married to Frank (sic) A. Banks at Smith Center, Kansas on November
10, 1904. To this union were born seven children of whom six
survive, four girls and two boys Mrs. Ray Bruce, Mrs. O. B.
Bailiff, Lucile, Frederick, Isadore and Neoma Banks, all of
Yuma. One son, Adolph, died in infancy. Leona was a loving wife
and mother who made many friends. She leaves her husband and six
children; her mother; four sisters and three brothers, all in
Canada. Owing to the fact of such a distance they were unable to
attend the funeral.

6 Jan. 1944. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at
the Ritchey Funeral Home by Rev. H. A. Crichett of the Methodist
Church, for Fred A. Banks, who died while visiting with his
children at Dayton, Washington. He was buried by the side of his
wife in the Otis Cemetery. Fred Abner Banks was born at
Riverton, Nebraska Nov. 14, 1879 to Samuel M. and May Bell Banks
and departed this life December 23, 1943 at Dayton, Washington
at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 19 days. He spent his
childhood and school days near his birthplace and was married to
Leona Mary Duby at Smith Center, Kansas. To this union were born
eight children, two small infants dying soon after birth.
Surviving are Edna, Neoma and Isadore of Vancouver, Washington,
Fred of Portland, Oregon, Blanche of Dayton, Washington and
Lucille of Stratton; a brother, Peter of Yuma and four sisters,
Mr. J. E. Wyatt and Mrs. Ray J. Ellis both of Denver, Mrs. H. L.
Bannick of Yuma and Mrs. F. C. Kelso of Yampa and eight
grandchildren. Shortly after his marriage he moved with his wife
to the Dominion of Canada where they remained for seven years
after which they moved to a farm 12 miles southwest of Yuma and
resided there until the death of his beloved wife in the years
of 1930.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, May 11 for Mary
Bannick, who died suddenly Monday, May 7 at the Yuma District
Hospital at the age of 87. Interment was made in the Yuma
cemetery. Mary P. Bannick was born on February 10, 1892 at
Riverton, Nebraska to Samuel M. Banks and May Bell (Coats)
Banks. Her childhood was spent in Nebraska and Kansas, and she
joined the Methodist church near Smith Center, Kansas in the
year 1909. She moved with her parents to Colorado in 1910 in
the vicinity of Yuma. She was married to H. L. Bannick (Hank) in
the early spring of 1912. Born to this union was one son, James
C. Bannick, who died in a truck accident at Omaha, Nebraska in
1935. Mary ran a creamery in Yuma for many years and operated a
photo studio in Yuma for ten years, moving with her husband to
Denver in 1944. Hank passed away in Denver on March 5,1955.
Three sisters and two brothers have also preceded Mrs. Bannick
in death. Her survivors include one sister, Merle Kelso and
many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Merl's parents Samuel and May Belle are in Washington County in 1920, with
grandson Clyde Dunafon 15.
Mary Jane Kelso from Frederick County, Virginia, married Philip Wingate
Dunafon in Dayton, Ohio January 1, 1850. Alva Lee Dunafon, youngest of
their seven children, married Flossie Banks, daughter of Samuel Banks. The
youngest, Clyde, was only a few months old when his parents separated and he
remained with his grandparents. Clyde married Fern Snider on May 28, 1928.

Alva, born March 24, 1864 in Illinois, died Dec 14, 1928 in Webster County,
Nebraska. He's buried in the Minden, Nebraska cemetery 114705745.
John William Dunafon, born Nov 8, 1858 in Christian County, Illinois, and
died Sept 25, 1929 in Kansas. In 1979 married
Emma Roxena Peery 1862-1923. They are in Block 14, Lot 6 of the Franklin
Cemetery, Franklin County, Nebraska
Charles Philip Dunafon was in Yuma County when he registered, born in
Franklin Nebraska July 12, 1894 - single, working for Joseph Kohn ? of
Happyville.
Daughter Bertha N. 33, and husband James B. Bradshaw are in Center precinct,
Yuma County in 1920, with eight kids.
In 1920 Yuma County, Leon J. 31 and Naomi D. 23, Iowa are in Center precinct.
Clarence is also in Yuma County in 1920, 26, married to Jessie 20. They
have John 2, and Wayne seven months. Clarence and Jessie are in Jefferson
County, Colorado in 1940, a dirt contractor. They have John J. 22, Wayne
Kenneth 19, and Lee Arnold 17. In 1935 they were in Russell County,
Kansas.
