Lawrence C. Durnil, Steffens

In 1900 Long Island, Phillips County Kansas, J.B. Durnell born April 1863 in Kansas has been married 13 years to M.E. Jan 1871, Kansas.  Sons W.B. Jan 1889, C. B. Oct 1892, L.C. Nov 1894, and L.L. Nov 1897 all born in Kansas.

In 1910 Long Island James B. 47, Mamie 39, Carl. B. 18, Laurence 16, Leonard 12, and son Murl 7.

Mamie Elaine Hall was born to Charles Giles Hall and Lillie Belle (Davis) Hall.  Her sister Mary married Hugh Rodenbaugh, and they homesteaded a few miles southwest in Washington County.

Lawrence proved up two quarters in 31, 1S 48W in 1918.  In 1920 that land was owned by "S.C. Durnil."

Lawrence registered in Yuma, farmer, saying he was born November 19, 1893 in Long Island, Kansas, was married and had children

In 1920 Long Island Lawrence is married to Mamie, 26 born in Kansas, and they have Donald 2 and Charles seven months. They are living with Mamie's parents Charles and Lillie B. Hall.

They're in Jefferson County, Nebraska in 1930, with Donald B. 12 and Jack C. 10.  Lawrence is a barber.

Still a barber in Jefferson County in 1940, with Jack 20, a butcher/refrigeration, Donald 22 car salesmanand his wife Leota 21, Nebraska, a cashier at Montgomery Ward.

In 1954 Lawrence is running the Harbor Blvd Barber Shop in Santa Ana, and he and Mamie live at 12081 Camile S.A.

Lawrence died July 19, 1961 in Orange County, California, mother's maiden name Vance.  He and Mamie E -1894-1978 are buried in Westminster Memorial Park there.

1915 "Mrs. L.J. Durnil, of northwest of town, left for Kyd, Kansas, Sunday night, to visit relatives and friends."

William V. 1889-1949 and Leonard L. 1897-1984 and Leonard's wife Inez are also buried there.

In 1925 Long Island, Phillips County, Kansas L.C. and Mamie, both 31, have Donald 7 and Jack. 5
