Edward (Edwin) A. and Iva Agnes (Haining) Dewey, Steffens

In 1880 Gage County Nebraska William "Dooey" 44, and Susan 35, have Timothe 17, Mary 14, William 9, Henry 7, EDWARD 5, Cary 2, Leurd and Eliza three months, and G.W. Cuningham, 54.

William and Susan are still in Gage County in 1900, with William, Tenya March 1880, Dora May 1882, Louis Ocrt 1885.

Eliza Beardsley is the next household, Dec 1853 Ohio.  Then the next household is Tim Dewey, "Brother" May 1822 Ohio, and niece Belle Apr 1871 Nebraska.

In 1900 Hitchcock County Edward Mar 1875 and Henry Aug 1873 are farming with brother Cary Aug 1879 and his wife Carrie Jan 1872 and their daughter Marie June 1899.

In 1910 Edward, 35, Nebraska, and Iva 26, Nebraska are farming in Yuma County.

1910 "South of Yuma - Mr. Dewey has organized a Sunday school at the Woods school house, every one invited."

1911 "Born - To Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dewey on March 25, a nine pound baby girl.  Mother and baby doing fine."

Edward proved up a quarter in 3, 1S 48W in 1914.  Witnesses were James R. Baker, William D. Pritchard, George W. Hall, and John Adcock, all of Yuma.

The Ancestry obituary index says Marvin Floyd Dewey was born in Brush in 1915, died Hemet California 2005, so maybe Edwin went to Brush right after proving up.

But in Gering Nebraska, EDWIN Albert Dewey, born March 22, 1875, is working in the Great Western Sugar factory in Gering.  Wife is Iva Dewey of Gering.

In 1920 Gering they have Edwin L. 10, Thelma 8, Dale 7, Floyd 5, and Frankie 1.

In 1930 Gering, working at the beet dump, they have Edwin L. 20, laborer, Floyd, Frank, and have added Bobby 9, Audrey 5 and John 3.

In 1940 Malheur County, Oregon, Edwin is farming.  They have Dale W. 28, born in Colorado. Robert R. 19, Audrey 15, John R. 12, Marvin F. 25 Colorado and his wife Thelma 22, Iowa and their two Richard L. 2 and Patricia A. 1

Edwin - born Mar 22, 1875 in Gage County, Nebraska, died January 6, 1960 in Benton County, Washington.  Iva Agnes (Haining) Dewey. born April 25, 1885 in Red Willow County Nebraska, married December 25, 1908 in McCook, died April 29, 1969 in Benton County.  They are buried in Resthaven Cemetery, Benton County

FindAGrave says Lost a daughter, who ate a poison plant!

Maybe that's the Lois Iva Dewey - March 4, 1917 - July 20, 1918 buried in West Lawn Cemetery, Gering, Nebraska.

The children are Edwin L., Thelma Matlock, Audrey Henry, Dale W., Marvin Floyd, Frank K. John R. & Robert R..
Sister: Mary Harder, North Platte, Nebraska, Brother: Clark Haining, O'Conto, Nebraska.
