John B. and Sarah Westcott

In 1880 a Sarah Wescott is in Marion County, MIssouri, with George 5 and Clayton 2 - she's a "servant" working  on farm.  The census recorded her as 30, born in Missouri.

John B. Westcott cash-claimed the se of  14, 2N 48W in 1890 - that's the quarter where the Yuma Cemetery is located.

He resided 1885 at Yuma, Colorado, where he was one of the first settlers and first commissioner of Yuma ... Children of John Westcott and Sarah Squires are: ...

He and Sarah were in the area in April 1887, standing at the marriage of Myron Peck and Lydia Long.

In January 1, 1887 the Pioneer said

 REAL ESTATE AGENTS,
  The Yuma real estate agents are a set of men that are well adapted to the business and of whom Yuma can well feel proud. They are all men of families who have located themselves here to make it their home.
The oldest of them is the old reliable   JOHN B. WESTCOTT about the first white man to locate in the Yuma Valley.

In 1900 John February 1846 in Ohio, Sarah February 1851 in Pennsylvania, are in Beatrice, Nebraska.  They have George W. July 5, 1876  in Sheffield, Ashtabula County, Ohio, Clayton October 1878 Missouri, John B. Jr. February 1882 in Nebraska, Erwin R. April 1884 Nebraska, Hugh J. March 1889 in Colorado, Feronia -daughter - October 1887 in Colorado, and Bertha March 1894 Nebraska.

So Sarah, at least, had left Yuma by 1894.

November 16, 1900 the Pioneer "Ed Gashaw informs us that John Wescott is lying at the point of death at his home in Beatrice>"

In 1910 Sarah, 69 is widowed, living in Nuckolls County, Nebraska.  Clayton, a school teacher, and Bertha are still with her.

Hugh J. Westcott, buried in Memorial Park, Oklahoma City, born March 8, 1889 and dying April 25, 1948 is very likely the one born in Yuma.  The gravestone of Bessie M. Westcott has the same style - June 9, 1894 - April 4, 1939.  Dale's California death record said his mother's maiden name was Faulk.

Hugh Johnston Westcott registered for WWi in Tripp County, South Dakota, saying he was born March 8, 1889 in Yuma Colorado. 

Hugh and  Bessie were in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1930, with Dale H. 16, Dorothy 10, Virginia 8, Priscilla 5, and Charls 2 - all kids born in Nebraska except Dale in Missouri.

In 1940 Hugh is in OKC, widowed, a painter. Dale 26, Virginia, Priscilla, and Charles are with him.

One tree said John Benjamin Westcott was born February 26, 1846 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Rufus and Anna Richmond Westcott.  and married Sarah Squires November 29, 1874., and died January 1901 in Beatrice, Nebraska.

Both John and Sarah are buried in Beatrice

Columbus Nebraska 1902 Lon Miller, while in the city last week, informed us that he is interested with his brother Charles in mining, their property being located within a few miles of Prescott, Arizona, with good prospects ahead. They have penetrated the earth a distance of 200 feet, and last year they put in place a stamp mill, engine, etc., etc., at a cost of several thousand dollars and Lon is quite confident they will in time strike it rich. Mr. Miller is also president of the school board of South Omaha and remained in town only a day, having to return to be present at the opening of the schools. George Westcott, brother-in-law of Mr. Miller, was also in town Thursday and Friday. Both Mr. Miller and Mr. Westcott are prominent business men of South Omaha.

In 1910 George 33, and Pearl 20, Westcott are in Gage County..  They're still there in 1920, with LeRoy, 6, Missouri.

In 1930 Snonomish County, Washington George W. Westcott and Pearl B. , 40, Nebraska, Westcott have Leroy H., 17, Missouri.  They are living with Pearl's mother Ida Scott, 64.

Clayton Lindsley Westcott, born in Monroe City, Missouri, married Mabel Britton Moore, age 27, in Naponee, Franklin County, Nebraska June 17, 1914.

August 25, 1905 "Beatrice- C.L. Westcott was quite badly burned about the hands and face at his home by the explosion of gasoline.  He had stepped into the cellar to set a rat trap and in lighting a match, the fumes from a can of gasoline ignited, casing an explosion. His injuries ar not cregarded serious."

In 1920 they're in Webster County, Nebraska, with Wayne S. 1.

In 1930 Thayer County they have Wayne 11, Wanneta J. 10, and John F. 1.

In 1930 John B, 45, and Hazel 38 Kansas, are in Seattle, with Muriel 20, stepdaughter, Washington.  Muriel is a lab technician in a hospital..

John Benjamin Westcott registered for WWII in Seattle, saying he was born in Fairmont Nebraska February 8, 1882, and was an electrical worker.

He died in Seattle March 7, 1958

"E.R. Westcott, of Beatrice, Neb has been appointed superintendent and wire chief of the Mutual Telephone Co., Summerfield, Kan."

Irwin Richmond Westcott registered for WWI in Humboldt, Iowa, saying his nearest relative was Lude Westcott of Humboldt..

In 1920 Fort Dodge, Iowa Edwin A. and Luda J., both 35, have Mildred E., 8.

In 1930 Los Angeles Edwin R. Westcott is 46, married to Lorena J. 45m Illinois , and they have Mildred E., 18, Kansas.

Edwin and Lund are in Glendale, California in 1940, both 56.

 Irwin's California death record says he was born April 6, 1884 and died in Los Angeles June 23, 1964.

Bertha Ruth Westcott married Jesse E. Tuttle June 7, 1916 in Tripp County, South Dakota, saying they lived at Colome.

In 1920 Tripp County, South Dakota Jesse E. Tuttle is 34, born in Iowa, with Bertha R. 25, Nebraska.  They have Bernard, two years five months, born in South Dakota.  With them are partners Bertie M. 33 and Lester S. 31]

In 1930 Rosebud, S.D. Jesse and Bertha have Bernard 12, Kenneth C. 10, Bernice E. 8, Herold R. 6, Bula I. 5 and Clyde E. 3.

Jesse was born May 1, 1885 and died May 1972.
