Lafayette and Mary Wagner, sons Cort Wagner and Richard Wagner

In 1880 Iowa County, Iowa, Lafayette Wager is 35, Nancy J. 34, with Franklin U., 9 herding cattle, John C. 7, Mirtle 5, and Richard 2.

In 1900 Yuma County, Lafayette Wagner, born April 1845 in Ohio, married 32 years to Nancy October 1845 Ohio,h ave had nine kids, five living. With them are Cortland July 1872, Richard Sept 1876, and William March 1883, all three born in Iowa.

In 1910 Yuma County, Lafe and Nancy are 65, with Richard 31 married two years to Sarah 23 born in Kansas, and a newborn son.

Ambrose Lafayette Wagner - 1845-1912 is buried in Yuma # 50504374.
Nancy J. Wagner was born at Mount Vernon, Ohio, October 11, 1845, and died at Yuma October 3, 1920, aged 74 years, 11 months and 22 days. At the age of 19 she married Lafe Wagner at Millersburg, Iowa. To this union nine children were born, four passing away in infancy. The husband died February 14, 1912.

Left to mourn are four sons, W.S. Wagner of Yuma, C.J. Wagner of DeNova, B.C. Wagner of DeNova and William H. Wagner of Denver and one daughter, Mrs. Jose Garaizo, of Casper, Wyoming; also 11 grandchildren. Funeral Services were conducted at the late home, Tuesday by Rev. W.L.Breckenridge and interment was at the Yuma Cemetery.
The estate settlement of 1912 listed heirs as Nancy J. Wagner, Ulysses Wagner, Courtland Wagner, Richard Wagner, William Wagner, and Myrtle Wagner.

RICHARD

February 7, 1908

Richard Cortrite Wagner of Dillingham, Washington County, Colorado registered for WWI, born Sept 17, 1877, nearest relative Nancy Julia Wagner of Yuma.

May 10, 1918

September 11, 1924 "U.S. Wagner came down from Denver Monday for a few days' visit with his brother R.C. Wagner, north of Yuma.

In 1930 Yuma County, Richard is widowed, with Inez L. 17.

In 1940 Yuma County, Richard C. is 62, born in Iowa, Wilma 30 Kansas, with Iva J. 7 and Pauline R. 6. Another daughter Inez Brown 27 is with them - Inez was in Washington County Colorado in 1935.

Richard Wagner was born near What Cheer, Iowa, Sept 17, 1877 and departed this life a Yuma, Colorado, on July 28, 1948, at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 11 days.

Mr. Wagner came to Yuma with his parents in 1892. That community had been his home except for about 10 years, which he spent in the community south of Otis.

He was preceded in death by his wife and three children by a former marriage. On July 29, 1931, he was united in marriage with Wilma Atkinson and to this union were born two children; Iva Jane and Pauline.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Wilma Wagner; three daughters; Mrs. Inez Taylor of Denver, Iva Jane and Pauline of Yuma; a brother, Bill Wagner, Denver; six nephews: Stacy and Ulmont Wagner of De Nova, Herbert, Glen and Lloyd Wagner of Denver and Frank Wagner of Centralia, Wash., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held Friday afternoon, July 30, at 2 O'clock from the First Baptist Church in Yuma, and were conducted by the Rev. Orval Majors. Burial was in the Yuma cemetery, with all arrangements under the direction of the Paul Morris mortuary of Yuma.

Inez is buried in Yuma - December 17, 1981

COURTLAND
Cort proved up a quarter in 21, 2N 47W - a mile from Schramm, in 1901. Lafayette a quarter in 22 in 1900, anbd Richard one in section 21 in 1907.

January 24, 1902 "Court Wagner completed a well on his ranch south of town Tuesday."
July 4, 1902 "Court Wagner set the new engine on a foundation at the water plant this week."

"Mrs. Lingel of Alexandria, Missouri is visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Court Wagner.."
October 23, 1919 "Mrs. Laura Lingle, a guest at the home of her sister, Mrs. W.A. McNichols, went up to Denver yesterday for a few days stay." These were Flora Jane (Orr) Lingle 1853-1938 and Mary Olive (Orr) McNichols 1853-1945, daughters of William and Catherine Orr of Osceola, Iowa.

In July 9, 1902, Court Wagner 28, born at Millersburg, Iowa, residing at Yuma Colorado, a rancher age 28 , son of Lafayette Wagner and Nancy J. Eddy, married married Margaret M. Lingle, age 20, of Alexandria, Missouri, daughter of George and Mary Lingle. (But Lee County, Iowa list of marriages have Courtland J. Wagner marrying Margaret M. Lingle October 28, 1901.)

August 7, 1903 "Born to Mr. and Mrs. Court Wagner, Wednesday night, a bouncing baby boy."

April 19, 1907 "Court Wagner is putting up a windmill for the Northwestern Brick Co.."

March 6, 1908 "A sister of Mrs. Court Wagner arrived Tuesday. Her husband arrived at Eckley the same day with their car which will be unloaded at that point."

April 17, 1908 "Court Wagner is running the big engine at the Greenstreet ranch."

In 1910 Yuma County, Court is 38, Margaret M. 27, with Stacy E. 6 and C. Uluent 3, both born in Colorado.
September 13, 1907 "Mrs. Mary Lingle, who has been visiting for a few weeks at Roseville, Illinois, is again at home."

Mary E. Lingle proved up a quarter in 27, 2N 47W in 1911 - a mile from Cort's claim.

June 21, 1912 "Court Wagner will leave next week for Portland, Oregon, and other points in the coast states."

ULYSSES

Ulysses' grandmother Catherine Eddy made a will in 1895 Milersburg, Iowa County, Iowa, "I give and bequeath to Ulysses S. Wagner three shoats, white color, and the corn in the crib my one half and my one half of corn in the shock. ""Second, to all the balance of my children and grandchildren as stated below, share and share alike. Leander Eddy, Sarah Ward, Nancy J. Wagner, Hannah Maria Decoy, Jane Mary Wagner, and Ida Kanzig, granddaughter and Ulysses S. Wagner, grandson, real estate consisting of thirty- five acres in Section 8, Township 78, Range 11 West of the 5th P.M. "

Ulysses, age 29, an engineer, married Julia Riley age 28 in Iowa County on July 6, 1898.

In 1900 Iowa County, Ulysses, born Nov 1869 in Iowa, is an engineer. Julyi a June 1870 in Iowa of Irish parents. They're probably the Ellen Riley on the same page, July 1842 Ireland, widowed.
In 1910 Boulder County, Ulysses is a laborer in a coal mine, 40, married (second for both) one year to Viola 26 Kansas.

January 1, 1915 "Ulysses Wagner, who had been looking after his mother's farm during the past season, departed Wednesday for his home at Lafayette."
In 1930 Yuma County, Ulysses is farming 60, with Viola 46.

In 1940 Yuma County, Ulysses and Viola are living next to Richard.

Ulysses 1868-1946 is buried in Yuma # 74384902, with Viola 1884-1955.
January 10, 1946

February 1946 "Wanted - man to plant lawn at my residence on South Albany - Mrs. Viola Wagner."
Viola, and Mrs. Minnie Thorpe who lived across the street, were both shot August 16, 1946 as they were sitting in their homes.

March 17, 1955

June 1955 "For Sale - small house across from Lutheran church, belonging to Viola Wagner estate."

Viola's estate mentions Ira Cornelius, deceased brother, Ira's son Harold of Louisville, Colorado, brother Phillip in the state hospital, deceased sister Louise Jones and her children Dolores Archer of Kensington Maryland, niece Verdie Manrind of Arlington Virginia, niece Glena Mae Oliver of Arlington Virginia, Marietta Pershing of Bladenburg Maryland, niece by marriage Inez Taylor of Fruita, Colorado.

In 1880 Clark County, Missouri, George Lingle is 45, Mary 39, Elias 19, Thomas 12, Sarah 10, Albert 8, Phebe 6, George 4, and Emma 2.

Emma Lingel, daughter of Geo. W. Lingel and Mary Long, married Geo. William Ward in Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa January 1, 1899. He was the son of S.A. Ward and Mary Sparks, born at Brunswick, Missouri.
( brother Albert W. Lingle 1872-1924 and Marietta Lingle 1869-1921 are buried in Lee County.)

One tree said George "son of S WARD and MARY SPARKS. He was born Abt. 1875 in Brunswick, Missouri." The tree also said their child was MAIZIE PRESTON WARD.

In 1880 there's a Samuel Ward, 30, Mary B. 27, with Elvira 6, George 4, and James 2.
Mary is in McDonough County, Illinois in 1900, born Jan 1853 in Kentucky, with James 24, Claude 19, and Bessie 10. Samuel Feb 1850 is considered a boarder.

Samuel and Mary are in Henderson County, Illinois in 1910, with Claude 27 Missouri. Daughter Bessie H is 22, married to William Good - and Maxine is 1.

Maxine and two younger siblings are with Sam and Mary in 1920 Craig County Oklahoma.

In 1900 Hancock County, Illinois, George, born Jan 1874 Missouri - father in Illinois, mother in Kentucky has been married one year to Emma E. April 1878 Missouri, father in Pennsylvania, mother in Ohio. Emma said she'd had one child, not living.

In 1900 Clark County, Mary E. born May 1844 in Ohio, is widowed. Georgia daughter Dec 1875 Missouri is divorced, William July 1880 is a cooper, Margarete Oct 1882 Missouri is at school.

Next household is James Oblennes Aug 1870 Iowa and his wife Sarah April 1870 Missouri, married eight years with one daughter Claudia V. March 1894.

Georgia married William McElroy in 1901 and moved to Washington.

September 13, 1907 "Alva Hartford, son-in-law of Mrs. Lingle, is out from Illinois looking for a farm."

May 1908 "While Mesdames Wagner and Hartford were driving home Saturday evening one of their horses dropped dead in the harness."

On the same page as Lafe Wagner in the 1910 Yuma County census, Emma Hartford is 32, born in Missouri - second marriage of four years - she's had one child, still living.
Alva had married Emma Lingle in Des Moines County, Iowa Feb 1, 1906.

The next household is Alva L. Hartford, 50 born in Illinois, first marriage of four years.

In 1912, Alva L. Hartford proved up a quarter in 23, 2N 47W - a mile from the Wagner claims.

Alva was in Warren County, Illinois in 1900, born Nov 1858 in Illinois, with parents James 76 and Ann Eliza Hartford 61. Jessamine is 25, Clarence is 22.

In 1920 Schuyler County, Illinois, Al Hartford 61 is widowed.
Alva, born November 19, 1859 in Prairie City, Illinois, died June 14, 1924 in Galesburg, to be buried in Prairie City.
He's buried in Prairie City, per # 18755675.

In 1930 Independence County Arkansas, Emma L. Hartford is 52, widowed, born in Missouri, farming.
In 1940 Independence County Arkansas, Emma Hartford is 62, divorced.

Emma's FindaGrave record has her dying March 6, 1948 in Sharp County, Arkansas , # 109201178. Another 1878-1948 # 15909180 has her in Ball Cemetery, Independence County, with a tombstone photograph.

The Ball Cemetery has her listed between Walter Burrow 1880-1961 and Caldona Estlee Burrow 1890-1971 and Joseph 1880-1956 and Cora B. 1876-1972 Patterson

All four of those people were born in Arkansas.

Phebe A. Lingle, age 23, married Jesse Anthony, age 22, in Keokuk, Lee County Iowa, Sept 9, 1896.
In 1900 Clark County, Missouri, Phoebe is 26, Jesse 25, with Emogene 6. They're living with Jesse's mother Harriett Anthony, 63.

One tree says she's the Phoebe Ann (Lingle) Waters 1873-1937 buried in Pasco Washington, with James 1869-1945.
Mary Imogene (Anthony) Jacob is buried in Colma, California, per # 87743287.
