Clifty H. and Clara (Gossett) Stanberry, sister Ida (Stanberry) Anderson, brother William E. and Goldie Gossett


In 1900 Cumberland County, Illinois, "Harlin" is 14, with parents William 55 and Mary 49 Stanberry. Francies M. is 24, Ida B. 16, Charles M. 11, and William R. 8.

In 1910 Clara E. Gossett is in Coles County Illinois, 23, with parents William 59 and Martha 55 Gossett. Emma Belle is 27, William 18, Homer A. 15. Three grandchildren, Paul R. Fawley, 9, Ruth E. Fawley 4 and Ralph G. Fawley 2 are with them.

Clifty proved up a quarter in 1914 in 35, 2N 47W - a mile south of Schramm. Witnesses were Moody I. Stebbins, John L. Wrangler, Joseph H. Campbell, and Clarence C. Conover.



Clifty Harlen Stanberry registered for WWI in Yuma County, born March 4, 1886, farming, relative Clara Gossett Stanberry of Yuma.
September 1918 "William Gossett of Charleston, Illinois arrived last Friday and is a guest at the home of his dughter, Mrs. C.H. Stansberry, southwest of Yuma.

September 7, 1917.
In 1920 Yuma County - on the same page as brother-in-law William Gossett, Harlin is 33, Clara 33, Edwin 5, Kathryn 3, and Virginia, 2.
1924 Waverly items "Harland Stansberry is in this vicinity with his threshing machine. He threshed wheat for the Cox's that averaged 22 bushels per acre. This wheat was on summer tilled ground but was damaged about 30 per cent by hail."
July 1, 1926 "Miss Ruth Folley and Miss Elma Ryan arrived in Yuma Wednesday from Charleston, Illinois, and are guests at the home of Mr. and Mr.s .H. Stanberry, southesast of this city. Miss Folley is the niece of Mrs. Stanberry.
In 1926 Wichita, Kansas, there's a Charles H. Stanberry(Clara) running a restaurant...
This might be the one in 1930 Tribune, Kansas, working in a garage, with Clara, both 26, Alvin 3 and Jewel eleven months.

In 1928 C.H. and Clara are in Greeley, Colorado, living at 1414 8th St, saying he was a rancher.

In 1930 Harlen C. Stanberry, 44, is farming in Morgan County, with Clara G. 45, both born in Illinois, married 18 years. Edwin E. is 15, Kathryn 14, Virginia 12, and Lowell M. 5.

In 1940 Harlan is a car salesman. He and Clara are in Soldiers' Home, Idaho, with Lowell 15 and Norman 8.
In the 1941 Boise city directory, Clifton H. (Clara) is a saleman for Dunn Bros Motor Co., Edwin E. works for Peterson Motor Company, and Stanleyh W. (Emma D.) is a clerk at the post office.
August 11, 1955 Mr. and Mrs. O.P. McKinley visited former neighbors, Mrs. Clara Stansberry and son, Edwin, and family of Emmett, Idaho.
September 1946 "Dr. Stansberry of Fort Collins spent Sunday in Yuma with his friends, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Lett. Dr. Stansberry, who is a chiropodist, lived in Yuma many years ago. After service in the navy, he returned to Fort Collins to resume his practice."


Clifton H. Stanberry 1886-1967 is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Seattle # 28836319.
Clara G. Stanberry 1887-1966 is buried in Gem County, Idaho # 111968341.

EDWIN
Edwin married Martha E. Crank in Emmett, Idaho March 31, 1939.

In 1940 they're in Klamath, Oregon, a mechanic, with son Manno, two months.
Martha E. Stanberry 1921-2003 # 21546466 and Edwin E. 1914-1984 # 21546451 share a tombstone in Kent, Washington.
In the same cemetery are Robert K. Stanberry 1944-1996 and David M. 1949-2002.
On the tombstone are - without dates of death, Donald C. 5-14-1953, Thomas R. -12-1956, Timothy .. 2-25-1961, Linda D. 1-8-1946, Edwin D. 1-10-1940, Wayne H. 91-12-1940, and William J. 7-4-1942.
Robert's obituary said he was survived by his wife Dixie (Crites) Stanberry, son Robert Jr. of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, daughter Theresa Stanberry of Seattle, his mother of Tacoma, his brothers Edwin, William, David, Donald, Thomas and Timothy of Seattle, Wayne Stanberry of Copperas Cove Texas, and a sister Linda Frye of Bend, Oregon.

Edward Wayne Simonds, age 32, died September 24, 1997, as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Born January 21, 1965, to Edward Lee and Linda Stansbury Simonds. Married Ann Colleen Ewing May 19, 1989 in Salt Lake City.Survived by wife, daughter, Brittany and son, Andrew Simonds, of West Valley; father, Edward Simonds; mother, Linda Frye; grandmother, Martha Stanberry; sister, Kathy Heape; brother, Matthew Simonds.

Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.

KATHRYN
Kay Stanberry married Harry C. Evans October 13, 1935, recorded in Weld County.
In 1940 Boulder County, Harry is a tire regroover, 31, born in Nebraska, Kathryn J. 24 Colorado, with Richard L. 3 Colorado.
Harry died in Santa Clara County, California, mother's name Larsen.
Harry C. Evans 1909-1982 # 150745117 is buried in Loveland.

Richard Lee Evans was born June 15, 1936 in Loveland to Harry C. Evans and Kathryn I. Stanberry, dying March 15, 1990.
VIRGINIA
Virginia L. Stanberry married Frank G. Viets, Jr. December 28, 1938, recorded in Morgan County.
Frank was born April 3, 1916 at Stanberry, Missouri to Frank G. Viets and Reba B. Taylor, and died Sept 19, 1997.
They're in Oakland California in 1940, where Frank is a research assistant, and they're in the 1945 census of Brookings, South Dakota.
In 1966 they announced the engagement of their daughter Sandra Kay to Leo Ray Dunning, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dunning.
Virginia died in 1987.

LOWELL

In 1910 Cumberland County, Illinois, Melvin is 21, Edna 20, Floyd eight months, living with William 65 and Mary E., 56.
Edna was in Cumberland County in 1900, 11, with parents George T. 33 and Leona 31. Nora E. is 8, George E. is 4, and Sarah E. 2.
"Thomas" Hill 1867-1937 # 11607452 and Leona (Coleman) Hill 1868-1958 are buried in Cumberland County # 11607455.

Charles Melvin Stanberry registered for WWI in Yuma, born July 25, 1888 at Greenup, Illinois, with a wife and three children.
In 1920 Yuma County, Melvin C. Stansberry is farming, 32, Edna 30, Floyd 10, Juanita 6, Gladys 3, and Halley 1.
December 9, 1920 "Dr. Ham reports that the Stork Express left a son at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Stansberry, six miles southeast of Yuma, on Wednesday, December 8, 1920."
December 3, 1921 Lorenzo D. Hill sold 320 acres in 12, 7S 53W to C.M. Stansberry.


In 1930 Lincoln County, Colorado, Melvin is farming, 41, Edna 40, with Floyd 20, Juanita 16, Gladys 13, Halley 10, Fay 8, Ruth 7, and Wilma 5.
In 1940 Dade County, Florida, C.M. is farming, 51, Edna 50, both born in Illinois. Hallie 21, Fay 19, both sons, Ruth 18, and Wilma 15 were all born in Colorado.


He's buried in Martin County, Florida 1888-1957 # 26222712, with Edna 1889-1973.



Floyd Stanberry was born August 18, 1909 at Union City Illinois to Charles M. Stanberry and Edna Hill, and died August 27, 1992 in Pasco County, Florida.

Lorenzo Fay Stanbury was born Dec 8, 1920 at Yuma to Charles M. Stanbury and Edna I. Hill, and died May 31, 1995 in Garden City, Michigan.

Hallie Stanberry married Maxine Watson in Okeechobee County, Florida on April 26, 1941.
When Hallie Stanberry, born at Yuma Colorado to Chas Stanberry and Edna Hill, married Lillian Zinanski - she was born in Nettleton Pennsylvania to William Hite and Fannie Rutlege, divorced in Detroit - married November 1947 in Wood County, Ohio, both were living in Detroit.
Hallie said he was not previously married.
Lillian died March 5, 1976 in Highland Park, Michigan, residence of Garden City, Michigan.

Hallie Stanberry born Sept 19, 1918, died October 1978 in Garden City, Michigan.

Juanita Stanberry, born about 1914 in Yuma Colorado to Charles Stanberry and Edna Hill, married John A. Loupelle, age 33 in Detroit Michigan May 19, 1947.
John Antonio Loupelle died May 13, 1989, and is buried in Medicine Hat, Alberta, per # 99868826.
So is Juanita Loupelle, dying Feb 3, 2004, per # 99868827.

GLADYS
Gladys was born Sept 5, 1916 at Yuma to "C.M." Stanberry and Edna Hill, dying as Gladys White Feb 13, 2002.
She's buried in Hillsborough County, Florida, # 66123025, with Harold O. White 1916-1998 - both Reverends.

William Ernest Gossett registered for WWI in Yuma County, born October 3, 1891 at Charleston Illinois, farming, married.

William E. Gossett is in Yuma County in 1920, 28, with Goldie S. 29, both born in Illinois, and Susanna 1 born in Colorado.
June 1925 "W.E. Gossett, who formerly resided on a farm southeast of Yuma, requests that his copy of the Pioneer be forwarded to Meridian, Oregon."
He's back in Williamsport, Illinois in 1930, managing an A & P Store, with Goldie 39, Suzanne 11 Jean 8, and Marian 7, all daughters born in Colorado.
In 1940 Williamsport, he's still managing a grocery, with Goldie 49, Suzanne 21, Jean 18, and Marian 17.

William 1891-1966 # 69695010 and Goldie 1890-1983 have a tombstone in Jasper County, Illinois.

December 1, 1966 - Mattoon Illinois "Funeral services for William E. Gossett, 75, of Windsor, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Lovings Funeral home here with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Newton. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today. Mr. Gossett was pronounced dead on arrival at Mattoon Memorial Hospital at 10 a.m. Wednesday. He is survived by his widow, Goldie; three daughters, Mrs. William Owen, San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. J. W. Gaines, Wheaton, and Mrs. William C. Miller, Glen Ellyn; a sister, Miss Emma Gossett, Charleston, and two brothers, Harry, of Charleston, and Homer, of Auburn, Ind."

Suzanne Barrett Gossett Owen, age 95, passed away on November 8, 2013, in San Antonio, TX. She was born on October 19, 1918, to William and Goldie Gossett. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed. A longtime San Antonio resident and retired Alamo Heights educator, Mrs. Owen was a talented textile artist, gifted with knitting needles and an accomplished bridge player. She was a world traveler with a special love for Italy. An intelligent, humorous and elegant matriarch who was intensely proud of her family, she was known as "Gigi" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her husband, William Austin Owen, her parents and sister, Marion Miller. She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Old and husband John, Karen Sykes and husband Robert; grandsons, Dr. William Old, Andrew Old, James Sykes, Dr. John Sykes and Dr. Matthew Old; twelve great grandchildren; sister Jean Gaines and four nieces and nephews. The private graveside service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013.
Jean Gossett Gaines, age 92, a 50-year resident of Wheaton, Illinois passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 due to complications of pneumonia. Jean was born October 26, 1921 in Yuma, CO, the daughter of Goldie and William Gossett. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University majoring in Home Economics. She thoroughly enjoyed a career in food production management, first at the Pentagon during World War II and again, in later years, at Marshall Field and Co. She married John "Jack" Wesley Gaines in 1948 and spent many happy years as a homemaker raising their two daughters. She was a long-standing member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton. She also belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Women's Department Club of Wheaton, and Art Institute of Chicago. She participated in and contributed to numerous charities. She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughters, Ann Reed Gaines and Kay Gaines (David) Griffy; granddaughter, Galina Griffy; nieces, Lynn (John) Old, Karen (Robert) Sykes and Melissa Neeley; and nephew, William (Joann) Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Suzanne (William) Owen and Marian (William) Miller. A memorial tribute will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, with a visitation continuing after the service until 3:00 p.m. Private burial services were held at Wheaton Cemetery.

In 1910 Cumberland County, Illinois, Willis Anderson is 32, married eight years to Ida 26, with Opal 7, all born in Illinois. Willis is a farm laborer.
(Willis was in Cumberland County in 1880 with Emiline Anderson 35, age 2, and in 1900 he's still in Cumberland County, a farm hand.
Willis E. Anderson proved up 320 acres in 11, 2N 46W in 1916 - that's just north of Eckley.

In 1920 Yuma County, they're farming, with only Opal.
January 1922 "Willis Anderson was called to Charleston, Illinois Sunday by a message announcing the serious illness of his mother in that city.
September 27, 1923 "Mrs. Willis Anderson went up to Fort Morgan Thursday of last week to visit her daughter."

In 1930 and 1940 Willis and Ida are living on North Main in Yuma, farming.

The party numbers Mr. Stephens' mother, Mrs. Leona Stephens, of Azusa; his brother-in-law and niece, Ivan Hart and daughter, Carol, of Sierra Madre; Mrs. Stephens' mother, Mrs. Lena Bulkeley, of Anaheim; Mrs. Stephens' niece, Diane Polltsch, of Pomona; Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Bradley (Bonnie Stephens) and twin sons, Tommy and Jonnie, Long Beach; Mr. and Mrs. Karl McGowen (Delores Stephens) and children, Stephen and Kathryn, Victorville; Mr. and Mrs. William Blatnick (Darlyne Stephens) and son, Terry.

April 1947 "Mr. and Mrs. Karl McGowen welcomed a daughter at St. Bernardine's hospital Tuesday morning, April 22, at 5:45. She weighed five pounds, three, ounces, and has been named Kathryn Jean. Her mother is the former Dolores Stephens and the maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Stephens of 2960 Muscupiabe drive. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter McGowen of Rialto. Kathryn Jean has two great-grandmothers, Mrs. S. H. Bulkeley of Anaheim and Mrs. Preston Stephens of Azusa. She also has a brother, Stephen Lee, four years old."
