my grandmother Sena Katherine (Meier) Leighton was born in WV in 1886 and had a younger sister Bessie (could this be Elizabeth) whom married a Zwirn I believe. I met her when I was a young girl. Their father was John Henry (Johann Heinrich) Meier who was b. in Germany near Holland border (and sea level) also known as low-deutsch and their mother died in 1902 of sepsis after childbirth of the youngest child, a son, in Yuma, CO. Her maiden name was very German but I am not sure of the spelling: Mary Matilda Hosslocker???Hasslocher???Hausloscher??? Her family was supposedly part of the German colony in PA before going to WV- the PA "Deutsch" as apposed to Dutch. I believe the grandmother's maiden name may have been Cosner (another German name) but I'm not sure- I saw in on Mary's DC.
