Yuma County Pioneers -

Alois Lantwing

In 1900 the Yuma County census has him as Louis Lanttewing, born April 1875 in Switzerland.  He's working for the Moore brothers ranch - Crawford and Marion,

1901 "Alois Landiwing left one day for a visit at his old home in Zug, Switzerland.  He came to Yuma about nine years ago, having worked for several of our ranchmen during that time.  The Pioneer will keep him posted on the doings during his absence."

1901 "Alois Landiwing, who left some months past for a visit with his parents and friends at Zug, Switzerland, returned to Yuma last Saturday."

In 1910 the Yuma County census lists him as Louis Landwing/  He said he'd immigrated in 1892, and was naturalized.

In 1910 the Pioneer "Alois Landiwing received a larger engine for his corn sheller and will now make the kernels respond to waiting bins."

In 191 "Alois Landswig, of Yuma, a native of Scotland !... were those who received their final papers of naturalization at Wray last week."

Alois proved up a quarter in 17, 2N 47W - about four miles northeast of Yuma, in 1914

He registered for WWI in Yuma, saying he was born April 9, 1875 in Switzerland, and his nearest relative was Frank Lantwig in Switzerland.

He's still living alone in 1920.

He owned that quarter, and the one to the east, i 1922.  His residence was in the southwest corner of the southesast of 17.
