J.C. and Mary Hale

In 1850 Cayuga County, New York Justice is 11, with parents Edward and Hannah.

In 1870 Justice is in Wayne County, New York, with Mary and Annette, 7.- He's a "Common Laborer"

Justus C. Hale is in the Wayne County New York 1880 census.  He's 38, Mary 38, and they have Georgie , 5.  His widowed mother Hannah Nichols, 77 (she'd remarried between 1850 and 1860) is living with them.

In 1885 he's in Hastings, Nebraska, landlord at a boarding house. with Mary.  Annett,22, George 9, and William 5 - all born in New York.

J.C cash-claimed a quarter in 33, 2N 47W in 1891 - that's between Schramm and Yuma.

Justice C. Hale proved up a quarter next to it in 1898, and Justice C. Hale adjoining it in 1906.

1898 "Mrs. J.C. Hale and son George left Wednesday morning for Brush."

1899 "J.C. Hale, who has been running the Commercial hotel during the winter, moved back onto his farm east of town this week.  Mr. Hale made a first-class landlord, and our people regret that he has decided to quit the business."

In 1899 "   A sumptuous dinner was served at the pleasant home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hollingshead Thursday of this week. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hale, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott, Mrs. Van Horn, Miss May Clark, Lester Castle, Ira Edwards and sister, Mrs. Lucy Briggs."

In 1900 Yuma Justice Hale, born May 1837 in New York, is a "pedlar"  Mary C was born April 1844 in New York, and has had two children, both living.  From the other names on the census page, they're living out by Schramm.

1901 "Pro. Hale gave an entertainment at Eckley Thursday night."

1901 "George Horst is doing the carpenter work on a new building for J.C. Hale."

1902 "Mrs. Mary Lane has contracted with J.C. Hale to build a new house on her claim."

1903 the Pioneer said "The only Justice C. Hale of Garry was in Yuma this week renewing acquaintances."

September 1903

September 1907 "George Hale of Brush was down Saturday for a visit."

In 1910 Justus, Mary, and George are in Gary precinct, Morgan County, farming.
