Ira O. and Myrtle (Walker) Bash, Walter and Ella (Perry) Bash



In 1880 Page County, Iowa, M.G. Bash is 36, Fidalla 32, Marchus 13, Otis 6, Walter 4,and Grace 2.

In 1885 Johnson County, Nebraska, M.G. is 45, Fidelia 37, Otis 12, Walter 9, Ada 3, and Floyd three months.

In 1900 Johnson County, Nebraska, Martin Bash born Feb 1841 in Pennsylvania is married 21 years to Chidellas Sept 1847 Indiana. Ada Sept 1882 Nebraska and Floyd May 1885Nebraska.
On the same page is "Otis" 25, Indiana, married one year to Myrtle 19 Nebraska, and his brother Walter 21 Indiana.

Still in Johnson County in 1910, Iris and Ruth B. 9, Ada M. 7, Ira W. 3, Martin E. 1, and Ethel E. ten months.

Ira W. Bash proved up a tract in 13 and 24, 1N 47W in 1913.

March 15, 1918 Yuma "S.S. Noxon and wife came in from Adams, Nebraska last week for a visit with Mrs. Noxon's cousins Ira dn Walter Bash."

They're living in 3N, Yuma County, in 1920, Ira 45, Myrtle 39, Ada M. 17, Ira W. 14, Martin E. 11, En\dna E. 10, Mary E. 8, Elda L 5 (These six born in Nebraska) Ruby E. 4 aHelene B. 2 born in Colorado.

Lincoln Nebraska, October 31, 1932
"Mrs. Martin George Bash, 81, a resident of Lincoln since 1906 and of Nebraska since 1882, died at 9 o'clock Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray E. Hunt, 2351 Sumner street. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Bethany Christian church, Rev. Hugh Lomax and Rev. J. W. Hilton officiating. Mrs. Lenore Burkett Van Kirk will sing. The body will be taken to Adams for burial. Ill health for more than a year and a broken hip suffered in a fall eight weeks ago caused Mrs. Bash's death. She was born in Portland. Ind., and after her marriage in 1880, moved to Iowa. Two years later Mr. and Mrs. Bash came to Nebraska and settled near Crab Orchard. With her husband, Mrs. Bash had an active part in planning and supporting a small community church and Bible school in Gage county. In 1900 the family moved to Bethany, where Mr. Bash died in 1912. Mrs. Bash is survived by Mrs. Hunt, another daughter, Mrs. O.H. Fuller of Tecumseh, four sons, Marcus of McCook, Otis and Walter of Yuma, Colo., and Floyd A. Bash of Des Moines, Iowa.
The body is at Helmsdoerfer's funeral home where it will remain until time for the services."

Thanks to the family, who wrote "IRA OTIS BASH was born 25 Apr 1874 in Wabash County, Indiana, and died 1951 in Yuma, Colorado. He married MYRTLE ETHEL WALKER 18 Oct 1899 in Gage County, NE. She was born 18 Dec 1880 in Boone, Iowa, and died 22 Apr 1959 in Yuma County, Colorado."

Ira signed a World War I Draft Registration Card September 12,1918 in Wray, Yuma County, Colorado giving his date of birth as April 25, 1874.

In 1928 "The O.I. Bash family, of North Yuma, is moving to the Heiserman ranch, east of town. The Wall family previously occupied this ranch. The Walls are moving to the Meyer ranch near the Hammond school."


In 1929 the Home Welfare Club held its annual picnic at the King George's grove.
In the forenoon the men played horseshoes, Ralph Cannon and Ira Bash carrying off high honors.

Ira died in 1951, and is buried in Yuma.


Myrtle died in 1959, and is buried in Yuma.

Her heirs were Ada Flack of Phoenix, Arizona, Ira W. Bash of Otis, Edward M. Bash of Billings, Montana, Edna Kuhrt of Spokane, Mary Kelso of Denver, Elda Mulder of Yuma, Ellen Goeglein of Yuma, Betheen Kelso of Chula Vista, California. Ruth (deceased) children were Arlene Casey of Phoenix, Robert L. Atkinson of APO New York, Marjorie Hay of Fort Morgan, and Irma Mountain of Yuma.

April 1931 "Miss Edith Ratdke and Ira Bash were marrie dat Wray on April 4, Rev. Clark Bowre, minister o the Christian church, officiating."
October 1, 1942 "Cecil Workman was appointed night marshall at a special meeting of the town council Monday night to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Ira Bash who went to Denver Wednesday of last week to take a position in the Remington Arms plant."

March 20, 1952 "Myrtle Bash, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Bash, of Otis and Roy Nesbitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nesbitt of Clovis, New Mexico were untied in marriage at the Lutheran Church in Otis.

December 11, 1952, Raymond Bash phoned to say that his ship, the USS Uvalde, had docked in Long Beach and that he would be home for about 15 days in January. The Uvalde was a supply ship for the army, navy and marines in the Far East.

1965 Mr. and Mrs. Ira Bash of Cole Camp, Missouri visited in Yuma recently with relatives and friends."

Ira died December 25, 1999, and is buried in Yuam $ 48448243, with Edith 1908-2000.

In 1920 Yuma, Lawrence is farming, 20, born in Iowa, married to Ruth B. 19 Nebarska. They have Beryle A. -one month.

March 24, 1927 - Hyde items "The community was terrible shocked by the sudden death of Mrs. Lawrence Atkinson Monday evening. She will be greatly missed in this community."


Ruth died in 1927, and is buried in Yuma.


In 1930 Yuma, Lawrence is a garage mechanic, living with his parents on South Buffalo Street in Yuma. George is 66, Jennie M. 62, Lawrence 30, and his kids Arlene 10, Robert 8, Marjorie 7, and Erma 5.
Marjory 17 and Irma 15 are living with grandmother Jennie M. Atkinson 72 in Yuma in 1930.

In 1940 Laurance Atkinson is in Sterling, Colorado, a garage mechanic, 40, with Hazel 36 Nebraska. Rubylea Munson is 17, Virginia 16. All were in Fort Morgan in 1935.
July 1944 "Miss Irma Ruth Atkinson returned Saturday night after having spent a week visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Atkinson of Pueblo, and her sister, Mrs. Marjorie Hay and son of Fort Collins."

May 17, 1990 "Ruth Atkinson passed away May 1 in Redding, California. Ruth was married to Carl Atkinson, father of Norma Means, both formerly of Yuma."

In 1963 Ada (Bash) Flack of Chula Vista, California, attended a reunion of the Yuma class of 1921.

1936 Greeley, Colorado "Alvin Long, driver, and Ed Bash, owner of a truck which was operated, on the paved, highway near Fort Lupton without guide lights displayed last week, were assessed a fine of $5 and costs totaling $15, in the court of Justice B. G. English here Monday morning. Charge was preferred by the state motor-patrol. Both men are from Yuma."

In 1968 Ed Bash was an out-of-town guest at the Green-Goeglein wedding in Yuma.
Martin Edward Bash passed away October 7, 1983 at the Yuma District Hospital following a long illness. Graveside services were conducted October 15 at 11 a.m. by Pastor Stephen Ude of St. John's Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

He leaves to mourn his passing a brother, Ira of Portales, New Mexico ; sisters, Edna Kuhrt of Olympia, Wash., Betheen Mitchell of Chula Vista, Calif., and Elda Mulder and Ellen Goeglein of Yuma, and many nieces and nephews.

Elda was born Nov 18, 1914 at Tecumseh, Nebraska, dying June 27, 1991, Mulder in 1984, Harper in 1990.

In 1940 Yuma County, Elda is 25, married to Mark Mulder 36, with Cheryl J. 1.

December 1988 "Elda Harper received news recently of the death of her cousin, Cecil Bash of Karnak, Texas. Funeral services were held in Texas."

In 1940 Yuma County, Ellen R. is 23, married to Edwin W. Goeglein, no children.
They're buried in Yuma, Ellen 1916-1987, Edwin 1913-2000.
ix. HELEN BETHEEN BASH,
Helen was born March 19, 1918, dying September 17, 1999 as Kelso in 1957, Mitchell in 1979.

In 1948 Helen Kelso, born at Yuma , with Russell Kelso, born at Greeley Dec 5, 1944, now both living in Denver, arrived at Jacksonville, Florida on a U.S. Navy ship from Guantanamo Bay.
In 1963 Lewis F. and (H. Betheen) were living in San Diego, whee he works at the Naval Repair Facility.
She's buried in Bonita, California # 101739392.

MARY
Mary was born 17 Apr 1911, NE; d. Jul 1975, Denver, Denver Co, CO; m. FRED KELSO; b. Abt. 1896; d. Jun 1966, Denver, Denver Co, CO.

Memorial services were held in Denver July 24 for a former resident, Mary Elizabeth Kelso. Rev. Glen Calhoun of Grace Baptist Church officiated, and burial was made at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens beside her husband.

She was born April 17, 1911 at Tecumseh, Nebraska, a daughter of Myrtle and Otis Bash.

As a young girl she moved with her parents and older sisters and brothers to Yuma in 1916 where she received her schooling, graduating from the Yuma High School in 1930. She later graduated from Lady Esther's Cosmetology School in Denver and owned and operated her own shop for a number of years. In 1952 she was employed by the Denver Federal Bankruptcy Court, retiring two years ago.

In October of 1936, she was married to Fred S. Kelso who preceded her in death in 1966. Her parents and two sisters also preceded her in death.

She had been living with two sisters in Chula Vista, California for several months and passed away July 29 in the Chula Vista Hospital.

Survivors include five sisters, Ada B. Flack and Betheen Kelso of Chula Vista, Edna Kuhrt of Spokane, Washington, Elda Mulder and Ellen Goeglein of Yuma, two brothers, Ira O. Bash of Clovis, New Mexico and Edward Bash of Denver; also several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Three step-children also survive, Farrell Kelso, Raymond Kelso, and Donna Lee.

In 1910 Johnson County, Nebraska, Walter Bash is 34, Ella 28, with Cecil 2.

Next household is Franklin McClung, 29, with Ora 27, and their two girls.
A.J. Perry and Elvira are also in Johnson County in 1910.


October 9, 1919 "T.C. Perry, wife and children, who had been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bash, east of Yuma for a week or two, left for Indianapolis, Indiana Monday. About the first of Novembe Mr. Perry and family will leave for Porto Rico to take charge of a missionary station. The gentleman is the brother of Mrs. Bash."

In 1920 Yuma, on north Main Street, Walter is a garage mechanic, 53, Indiana , Ella 48 Missouri, Cecil 24 Donald 18, Daylor W. 14, Dallas W. 12 born in Nebraska, Carroll R. 3 in Colorado. Elvira Perry, 75, widowed, born in Ohio, Ella's mother, is with them. Mary Snodgrass, 17 - a servant, is with them. Mary graduated from the eighth grade in 1928.


In 1880 Macon County, Missouri, Andrew Perry is farming, 26, Elvira 24, with Lewis 2.
("Andrew born February 3, 1853, son of Judge Perry of Macon County, Missouri. When Lewis died in 1948, survivors included "his brother, Thomas Charles Perry of Pueblo, Colorado; his sister, Mrs. Ella Jane Bash of Denver, Colorado; one uncle, Manuel Perry of Akron, Ohio; and aged aunt, Mrs. Lizzie Perry Wait of Cardy, Missouri."
Lewis is buried in Elmer, Missouri # 32786084.)

August 25, 1927 "Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Perry, who have been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bash, east of Yuma, since last June, left Tuesday morning, bound for their home at Elmer Missouri. Mr. Perry is a brother of Mrs. Bash. His mother, Mrs. Elvira Perry accomanied them as far as Dundy County, Nebraska, at which place she is visiting her brother."

September 1933 - Rev. Thomas Perry, of Raton, New Mexico visited. He had accompanied his son and daughter to a Kansas City business college.

November 9, 1939 "Announcements of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bash, of Denver, were received in Yuma last week by the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bash. The boy has been named Wendell Martin."

In 1940 Yuma, Walter is not employed, 64, Ella is 58, a seamstress for the WPA, and Carol is 13.

In 1963 Cecil Bash of Fremont, California attended a reunion of the Yuma class of 1925.
Cecil 1906-1988 is buried in Karnack, Texas # 19260550, with Ida 1902-1983 # 19260551.


RONALD

In 1940 Denver, Ronald O. Bash is a pressman, 28, with Beulah 32 and Wendall five months.

Ronald O. Bash 1912-1985 is buried in Littleton # 139177353.
So is Beulah E. Bash 1907-1995, per # 139177364.

DAYLON

February 1944 "Daylon Bash, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bash, who recently completed his boot training at Farragut, Idaho, has been transferred to Norman, Oklahoma, for twenty-one weeks of machinist schooling."

Daylon W. Bash 1915-1970 is buried in Fort Logan # 36027372, WWII and Korea.

DALLAS

In 1937 Denver Dallas is working for G.R. Co, living at 1611 Humbodt.
He's single in 1940 Denver, a laborer, living with a Charles Phillips, 35.
Dallas Wayne Bash 1917-1997 # 334220 is buried in Phoenix National Navy WWII, with Jean S. 1913, 2001.

CARROLL

Carroll Robert Bash was born May 21, 1926 at Yuma, and died March 26, 1997, buried in Fort Logan, # 334219.
