Herman C. and Cora (Graves) Schettler
In 1900 Dekalb County, Illinois, Herman is a farm laborer, born August 1879 in Wisconsin, parents borrn in Germany.
In 1903 St. Anthony, Iowa, the firm of Gaunt & Schettler was dissolved by mutual concent. E.C. Gaunt and H.C. Schettler.
H. Schettler, son of Wm. Schettler and Caroline Bartling, married Cora Graves, daughter of Benjamin Graves and Isabelle Corcoran, December 24, 1908 at Des Moines, Iowa.
Cora had graduated from the Baxter high school in 1898, and in 1925 was living in Baxter.
In 1910 Jasper County, Iowa, Cora is 29, married one year - but no spouse, living with parents Benjamin and Isabel.

To trade a good yearling mare colt for milk
cow. H. C. Schettler, Wray, Colo."
October 1913 "Wanted — Second hand low-wheel wagon. H, C. Schettler. Wray, Colo"
Herman Charles Schettler registered for WWI with a Wray address, born August 18, 1878, wife Cra E. Schettler.

Herman proved up 320 acres in sections 22 and 23, 2N 45W in 1919. His heirs acquired another 40 acres in section 14 in 1921.
Witnesses were John M. Brown, Joseph Wisdom, John P. Speirs, and Henry Mealy all of Wray.
Herman C. Schettler 1878-1919 is buried in Restland Cemetery, Jasper County, Iowa # 116069265.
So is Cora 1881-1973, per # 73575702.
Robert C. Schettler 1919-2006 is also buried there # 16025590. That's the same cemetery as John B. Darr.
"Robert C. Schettler was born on August 17, 1919 in Baxter, Iowa, the son of Herman Charles and Cora Ethel Graves Schettler. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth and farmed in the Baxter area for many years. "
Cora is widowed in 1920 Yuma County, 38, with Isabelle 6 and Robert four months, all three born in Iowa. Her husband was born in Wisconsin.
In 1925 Jasper County, Cora, Isabelle, and Robert are with Cora's parents.
In 1930 all three are living with Cora's parents.
In 1940 Jasper County, Cora and Robert are with widowed Isabelle Groves, 83.
