Robert and Nellie (Van Hyning) Ramsey, mother Phoebe Van Hyning
In 1880 La Salle County, Illinois, Nelly Vanhyning is 13, with Hiram 51, a teamster, and Phoebe 41. Henry is 18, a day laborer, Nellie 13, and Homer 8.
"They apparently was still living in LaSalle on 3 May 1883 when he applied for an invalid pension. Shortly thereafter they continued on to North Dakota. Robert Ramsey was also on the wagon train, subsequently meeting Hiram's daughter, Nellie Mae, whom he married that year"
There's a Robert Ramsey in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania in 1880, a coal miner born in England, 21, maried to Sophie 20, with Gezena 2.
One tree said Sophie died in 1883.
In 1900 Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, Robert Ramsey born January 1859 in England, married 17 years to Nelley May, born in Michigan May 1866, have Estalle May 1885 North Dakota, Robert October 1889 North Dakota, Maggie Bell Sept 1892 North Dakota, Elise Edna April 1897 Pennsylvania, and Frederick March 1900.
Robert's mother Jane 1819-1902 is buried in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
Estelle married George Crawford, and they followed the Ramsey's to Eckley.
In 1910 Yuma County, Eckley precinct, "on the Wray road" Robert is 35, born in England, with Kelly M. 40 Michigan, married 25 years, with five kids all living. Margaret B. 17 born in North Dakota, Elsie E. 13 Homer F. 10, Walter H. 8, Myrtle G. 3, and Alma L. 6 were all born in Pennsylvania.
There's another Robert Ramsey on that page, 21, born in North Dakota, married to Mary E. 20 Pennsylvania, with two-month-old William R.
Also on the page is Phoebe VanHyning 70, widowed, born in Pennsyvania, with three boarders. Chloe E. Wilson, John C. Vanderkort 69, and Edgar L. Korrer, all born in Pennsylvania. Chloe is a farm laborer, and Edgar is a railroad section worker.
July 1910 " Mrs. VanHyning is hauling lumber for an addition to her house."
June 20, 1912 "Grandma Vanhyning has left for South Dakota to make her home with a daughter who lives there. Ed Ramsey is farming her place here for her."
Phoebe (Post) Van Hyning proved up 320 acres in section 30 in 1916, after dying - She's buried in Spink County, South Dakota 1837-1913 # 81769358.
In 1914 her estate was advertised for settlement, M.M. Bulkeley, administrator.
Robert Ramsey, Sr. proved up two quarters in 16, 2N 45W in 1916.
August 1916 "Mrs. Nellie Ramsey, of Eckley, made a business trip to Wray Tuesday "
Nellie and Robert are alone in 1930 Riverside, California.
They're in a rooming house in 1940, Robert 81 and Nellie 72.
Nellie died in Whittier California in 1943, and is buried there #1113005068, with Robert 1859-1942 # 140114634.

"Robert H. Ramsey met Mary Ellen Given in Pennsylvania and married her
June 30, 1909 at Manorville, PA. The Ramsey family went by train to Eckley, Colorado
where they lived on his folks’ homestead.
October 29, 1909 "Mr. Ramsey of Globeville, Pennsylvania,
arrived with his emigrant car Saturday, and will make his home
two miles east of this place (Eckley)."
On March 28, 1910, William Robert was born on the homestead near Eckley, CO.
March 1910 " Miss Maggie Ramsey spent Tuesday at Yuma."
June 30, 1911 "Robert Ramsey, north of Eckley, who lost his home by fire a week ago last Sunday, was in the city Saturday and expressed himself as being most grateful for the substantial assistance that was rendered him by the citizens of the neighborhood in which he resides, and by the people of Wray, all of whom extended immediate help. "
On February 2, 1912, Carol Albert was born at Gorham, Colorado. On December 2, 1913, Harry Fredrick was born on the homestead near Eckley."}
Robert Ramsey, Jr. applied for a claim in section 24, and 25, 2N 46W, witnesses August Yenter, Margaret Vanhorn, Robert Ramsey, Sr. and Wilbur H. Eagleson.
All the family except William Robert left Meadville August 8, 1936, and moved back to Wray, Colorado. Ester May Ruth met Chester Rears and married him June 30, 1937 at Holyoke, CO. Arthur Glenn rejoined the three C's and did not follow the rest of the family to a new location in Idaho.
On September 17, 1921, Harry Fredrick died of Mastoditis. He had been struck behind the ear with a ruler by the local teacher. On February 28, 1923 Mary Magdalene was born on the Ramsey Homestead. Robert H. put the homestead and all items on it up for public sale on Thursday, May 3rd, (year unknown) due to quitting the farm on account of his wife's health.
Harry is buried in Eckley.
They moved to Ohio where he found work building highways. On February 12, 1926, Carl Albert died of pneumonia at Cleveland, Ohio.
All the family except William Robert left Meadville August 8, 1936, and moved back to Wray, Colorado. Ester May Ruth met Chester Rears and married him June 30, 1937 at Holyoke, CO. Arthur Glenn rejoined the three C's and did not follow the rest of the family to a new location in Idaho.
Ruth was born on a farm at Spaces Corner near Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, to Robert H and Mary Ellen (Given)Ramsey on May 15, 1918.
Ruth met her first husband, Chester Merle “Chet” Rears while she was staying in a cabin near his sister’s cabin at the Crickett’s Tourist Camp near Wray, Colorado one winter. They were married on June 30, 1937 at Holyoke, Colorado.
