Carl H. and Ida (Gillette) Lynch



In 1880 Lincoln County, Kansas, Adam C. Lynch is 44, Cornelia 40, with Jacob G. Lynch 22.

In 1885 Lincoln County, J. G. Lynch is 26, born in Illinois, V. 23 bon in Indiana (One tree said she was a Davis). A.L. is eight months old.
Jacob had cash-claimed a quarter in 2, 10S 6W, Lincoln County, in 1882.
Also in 1882, Adam had claimed a quarter in section 2.

Next household is N. Davis 47 and S. 45, both born in Kentucky.


In 1900 Clay County, Nebraska, Dwyer Gillette born July 1845 is married 31 years to Ida May 1846, both New York. Willis March 1875 New York, Emma June 1885 Nebraska, Rosa M. March 1887, Julia B. twin of Ida H. October 1889 Nebraska.

Dyer B. and Ida A. (Howe) Gillette were both born in New York and came to Nebraska in 1880. There they purchased a good farm and thereon resided until 1890, when they removed to Clay Center. His removal to Clay Center was the outcome of his being elected to the office of clerk of the district court. His death occurred there on the 16th of April, 1912. Mrs. Gillette is still making her home in Clay Center.

Seven children were born to their union: Watson, a merchant of Holdrege; Frances; Willis, a retired farmer of Clay Center; Emma A., who is the wife of Albert Talbott, editor of a newspaper; Rose, who is the wife of Ray Boerland, a rancher and oil man of Casper, Wyoming: Julia, the wife of Bruce C. Robinson, an electrician of Superior; and Ida, who is the wife of Carl Lynch of Haigler. Throughout his life Mr. Gillette was a stanch republican and was likewise a member of the Congregational church and fraternally was a Mason. He was a veteran of the Civil war, having served in the One Hundred and Third Ohio Regiment three years.
Ida was still with parents in Clay County, a saleswoman in a dry goods store.

In 1900 Nuckolls County, Nebraska, Urietta Lynch is widowed, born Nov 1861 in Indiana. She's had four kids, all living. Lewis A. July 1884, Francis Nov 1886, and Carl H. Oct 1890 were born in Kansas, and Willie J. March 1894 in Nebraska. It's likely that her husband was Jacob G. Lynch 1858-1899 buried in Clay Center # 53835606.

(Willard Lynch was a tackle on the 1911 Haigler football team. He's buried in Thedford, Nebraska # 59097796, 1894-1985.)

August 1912 "Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Lynch of Evanston, Wyoming, were in Wray Tuesday and went to the Ralph Willis home several miles north where they in company with Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hazelbaker have a claim near the Willises farm and Mr. Lynch who is a son of Mrs. Hazelbaker was looking around for one also. They have not decided whether they will locate or not."

1912 "Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hazelbaker of Haigler came up to Wray Saturday and were met by Mrs. Ralph Willis of northwest of town. Mr. Hazelbaker is the proprietor of one of the Haigler hotels. They will visit a few days in the Willis home."


Carl proved up two quarters in 2, 2N 45W in 1916.
November 1916 " Mrs. Carl Lynch of north of Wray, returned Tuesday morning from Clay Center, Nebraska, where she had gone three weeks before for a visit with relatives."
November 30, 1916 "Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lynch, several miles northwest of Wray, sold their farm the last last week to Tod Kouba of the same vicinity. We have not learned Mr. and Mrs. Lynch's plans for the future."

Carl Hansford Lynch registered for WWI with an address of Haigler, Nebraska, born Oct 11, 1890 at Milo, Kansas, farming for A.L. Lynch of Lawrence, Nebraska. He was married.

1919 "Miss Ruth Gibbs of Brush, Colorado, left Sturday for a few days' visit with Mrs. Carl Lynch at Haigler. Miss Gibbs had been visiting at the Hahn family home north of Wray."

In 1920 Carl, married to Ida H. 30 born in Nebraska, are living with Vertta Hazelbaker, 58, and her husband Harrry E. 53, farming near Haigler.

In 1921 Harry E. and Viretta Hazelbaker defaulted on a note for farm land in Jefferson County, Colorado, on a note for $13,000.00 to Henry Carlson.

In 1929 Denver, Carl H. (Ida H.) is working at GRCo, living at 1010 13th avenue.

In 1930 Elbert County, Colorado, Harry is 58, farming, with "Eta" 67. Carl H. is listed as a son, with no Lynch name. Ida is 30, and Carl R. is 1, born in Colorado.
(In 1914 an Elbert County newspaper reported "L. Hazelbaker took a load of Mexican beans to Colorado Springs last week and they brought him $99.75."

Carl H. Lynch 1890-1935 has a stone in Chappell, Nebraska.

In 1940 Chappell, Nebraska, Carl R. Lynch, 11, born in Colorado, is a nephew of Havey A. Talbott 46 and Emmaline A. 48, both born in Nebraska. He was with them in 1935.
"Harvey Talbott was born in Clay County, Nebraska, and married Miss Emiline A. Gillette March 17, 1914. She was the daughter of Dyer Gilette, who with his wife Ida A. were still living at the old home place."

FindaGrave 53835590 has Ida G. Lynch 1889-1955 buried in Clay Center, Nebraska.


Harry and Viretta Hazelbaker are in Simla, Colorado in 1940.

Viretta Hazelbaker 1862-1948 is buried in Denver, # 121105920.

So is Harry E. 1866-1953 # 121105919.
