Charles F. and Mathilda (Kerschner) Unger, Lawrence C. Carrigan



In 1900 Bates County, Missouri, Charles Unger is farming, born Oct 1859 in Germany, immigrating 1861, married 16 years to Matilda Apr 1862 Wisconsin. She's had six kids, four living. Eda O. Sept 1884 Illinois, Hulda Oct 1886 South Dakota, Louisa April 1896 South Dakota, and Arnold Sept 1899 Missouri.

In 1910 Yuma County, Charles M. 50 and Matilda 47 have Louisa 14, Arnold 10, and Carl 3, born in MIssouri.

April 1910 "Lawrence Carrigan and wife, and Mrs. Huldah DeShamp, the two former from Mineral and the latter from Pittsburg, Kansas arrived Wednesday morning and will visit their parents, Chas. Unger and wife of near Robb."

The East Yuma History says that Mrs. Carrigan had previously been married to a Howe, who was killed in Kansas.

Matilda J. Unger 1863-1911 is buried in Wray # 62376405.
Mathilda Catherine Kerschner was born at Richwood, Dodge county, Wisconsin, April 21, 1863. She was married to Carl Fredrick Unger October 6, 1883, in Rockford, Illinois. To this union was born five children, three girls and two boys. Two of the girls are married and live in Kansas City, Missouri and the one girl and two boys are living at home. Mr. Unger and family have resided on their farm out in the Robb vicinity for a number of years and have made a score of friends. The deceased suffered the greater part of the summer, and was taken away in the evening on the fifth day of October, 1911. The funeral services were held last Sunday at the Presbyterian church of Wray. Rev. Gleffie Pastor of the German church near Vernon, conducting the services and the remains were laid to rest in the Grand View cemetery. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of all the community of Robb and friends in Yuma county in which the Rattler joins, in this their loss of mother and wife."

January 1912 "Charley E. LaFrance, son-in-law of Charley Unger of Robb, filed on some land northwest of Robb last Monday."

June 1914 "Miss Louise Unger is assisting with the housework in the Mason Chamberlain home."

Charley F. Unger proved up 280 acres in 26, 2N 45W in 1917, and another 40 for Stock in 1920.

January 1912 "Joseph Jislin DeChamps of West Mineral, Kansas, filed on a homestead in the vicinity of Robb on Tuesday of this week."
Joseph J. Deschamps proved up a quarter in 23, 2N 45W in 1920 - adjoining the Unger claim.
Lawrence proved up two quarters in 11, 2N 45W in 1920.

February 1922 "Mr. and Mrs. Roy Foster spent Sunday at the Lawrence Carrigan home."

In 1920 Yuma County, Charles is widowed, 60, with Arnold 20. Frank "Gierlee" 25 is married to Lousie 23, and they have Grover G. 4.
Frank registered for WWI in Yuma County, born June 22, 1894 at Three Rivers, Michigan.

In 1930 Yuma County, "Carl" F. Unger is 70, farming with grandson Carl Howe, 23 born in Missouri.

In 1934 C.F. Unger is living in 26, 2N 45, and Arnold Unger is farming.
In 1937 Arnold is living on South Ash in Wray, a laborer. He and Thelma have Jack, Betty , Laura and Earl.

BESSIE

In 1910 Holt County, Missouri, Charles is 27, born in Kansas, with Bessie 29 Iowa, second marriage for her. She has Fremont Van Deventer 9, Hattie 7, both born in MIssouri, then with Charles she has Lawrence LaFrance 3 and Mary nine months, both borni nMissouri.

Charles Emmett La France registered for WWI with an Eckley address, born August 14, 1882, wife Bessie.
He was born at Osborn, Kansas to Emmett Lafrance and Mary Lemantain.

Charley E. LaFrance proved up a tract in 29, 2N 45W in 1917 - about three miles east of Eckley on the railroad track.
His witnesses were Charles J. Yenter, August Yenter, John Hackworth, and Robert Ramsey, Sr.

In 1920 Charles is single, back in Holt County, Missouri with parents Emmett and Mary.
He's also listed with Bessie in Polk County, Missouri, with Bessie 38, Lawrence 13, Mary 9, Katherine 3, and Arthur 1.
Katherine and Arthur were born in Colorado.

In 1930 Comanche County, Oklahoma, Charlie is 47, Bessie 48, Katherine 14, Clifton 11, and Howad 8.

They're farming in Mayes County, Oklahoma in 1940, Charlie 57, Bessie 59, Clifton 21, and Howard 18.

Bessie M. (Walters) LaFrance 1880-1964 is buried in Caddo County, # 84316902, with Charlie E. 1883-1951 # 84316922.


Howard 1921-2003 is buried in Caddo County, Oklahoma, per # 84316841.

EDITH

February 1906 - Meade County, Kansas " February 17 - Joseph Howe, a former Rich Hill young man, was killed in a coal mine at Mineral, Kan., recently. He was married to Miss Edith Unger, of this city, quite recently."
Joseph Howe, dying Feb 14, 1906, is buried in Rich Hill, Missouri, # 87374663.


In 1920 Yuma County, Laurence Carrigan is 35, Edith 35, with Altie Howe 14 and Carl Howe 13 (Edith's kids). Paul Carrigan is 10.

In 1930 Yuma County, next to Charles, Claude L. Carrigan is 45 born in Missouri, with Edith C. 45 born in Illinois. Paul L. 21 was born in Kansas.
Edith C. Carrigan 1884 - is buried in Wray # 17076416.
In 1941, guests of Jim Graves were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Des Champs and David, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Des Champs ang baby, and Mrs. Edith Carrigan.
In 1960, visiting Mrs. Jess McClelland were... and Mrs. Edith Carrigan, all of Wray."


Carl F. Howe 1906-1968 is buried in Wray, next to Edith A. Howe 1909-1980.

HULDAH
In 1920 Wray, Joseph J. Deschamps is 36, born in Belgium, immigrating in 1899, naturalized in 1915. Hulda is 33, Joseph A. 7 born in Kansas, and Ruth P. 3 in Colorado.

Huldah is buried in Wray 1886-1948 # 81741248, with Joseph J. 1883-1961.


LOUISE

Louise is in Weld County, Colorado in 1930, 34, married to Frank D. Zierle 35, with Grander E. 14.
Frank died in 1930, buried in Greeley # 120603022. "July 2, 1930; Greeley Daily Tribune
Frank Zierle, for many weeks ill at the Colorado General hospital, died there on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Zierle was in the employment of Ahlstrand's at the time he became ill. He is survived by his widow, who lives a miles west of Kersey, and a 14 year old son, Grover.
The body was brought to Greeley Wednesday morning by Sattley's, and funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Seventh Day Adventist church. Burial is to be at Evans cemetery. "

Louise Pauline Henrietta Zierle died in 1987, and # 48368095 has her buried in Napa County, California.

ARNOLD

Arnold G. Unger 1899-1955 is buried in Wray # 62376365.
