Yuma County Pioneer Photographs:

John A and Katherine (Strackbein) Riedesel, Friend (Idalia/Kirk).

John A Riedesel was born in 1848 in Ohio, the son of German immigrants. Katherine Strackbein was born in Germany in 1846. John and Katherine were married in Iowa in 1875. They brought their family to the Friend area of Yuma County in 1887 and homesteaded the SW¼ Section 5, Township 5 South, Range 45 West. John (1848-1932) and Katherine (1846-1914) are buried in the Lucas Cemetery, near Idalia. They had six children. Their oldest Edward (1876-1880) died in Iowa.

George married Amy Mace in 1920,
Elizabeth married Charles Shields in 1899,
Albert married Nora Nevills in 1933,
and Frank married Emma Romkee in 1910.

Albert, Frank and Lillie are buried near their parents in the Lucas Cemetery. George and and his sister, Elizabeth (Riedesel) Shields, are buried in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Denver.
