Henry Ludlum , children Mary E., Frank, Louis, and George W. Ludlum
Henry and Mary "Polly" married in Wisconsin in 1844. and in 1850 Iowa County Wisconsin are Henry 38, Polly 33, Alexander 5, Henry 3, Lines 1
In 1860 - still in Iowa County Wisconsin, they have Henry 13, Lewis 11, Mary 9, Steven 7, Francis M. 5, and George 2.
In 1870 they have Alexander 25, Lewis 21, Jane 19, Marilla 19, Stephen 17, Frank 15, and George 12
In 1880 they just have Frank, George, and Ellen.
But in 1885 Dixon County, Nebraska they have John 14, Minnie 5.
"Heirs of Henry Ludlum" and Mary E. Ludlum each cash-claimed a quarter in 20, 4N 48 W in 1891, and George W. proved up a quarter in 1900 just south of them.
To the east, Frank proved up a quarter in 1900, and had done a cash claim for a quarter in 1891.
The legal notice on Mary's estate said that George W., Sarah A., and Stephen B. Ludlum were legatees, and that they were non-residents of Colorado. Her will said she was giving five dollars to George and Stephen, and one hundred dollars to Lena McCall of Yuma.
1898 "G.W. Ludlum of Alcott, Colo., is homesteading and visiting with his brother, Alex, this week."
1906 "G.W. Ludlum, the wood butcher is reshingling and making some other repairs on his sister's house."
1913 "Geo. Ludlum came in from California Monday for an extended visit with his brothers, Alex and Frank."
| The funeral of Mary E. Ludlum, who died last Saturday, was held from
the Presbyterian Church Monday, and was attended by a large concourse of
neighbors and friends. Deceased was past 61 years of age and had been a
sufferer for a number of years. She was born in Wisconsin, coming with
her parents to Iowa in 1885, where they resided for two years, when they
moved to Idaho. She is survived by four brothers, Frank and Alex, of this place; George of Los Angeles; and Stephen, of Paris, Idaho. The Ludlums came to Yuma County in 1888 from Paris, Idaho. The father, mother, and one brother, Lewis, are buried in the Yuma Cemetery and one brother, Henry, is buried at Paris, Idaho. The surviving brothers have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement. George W. Ludlum, one of the early settlers of Yuma County, died at
the home of Miss Jessie Bailiff, twenty-two miles southwest of Yuma, on
Sunday, June 29, 1926. The deceased was in his 67th year. Funeral
services will be held at the Methodist church in this city at 2 o'clock
Friday afternoon. The body will be taken on the early train next morning
to Denver for interment. Three brothers, George, Aleck and Henry came to
Colorado about the year 1888 and took up homesteads northeast of Yuma,
not far from what is now knows as the Blach neighborhood. Here they
lived for several years. Later Aleck moved to Yuma and died in this city
about 10 years since. A few years later Frank went to Cuba, and from
that place to Isle of Pines on which island he is still making his home.
Another brother resides in the state of Idaho. George has been away to
California and other places two or three times but he would return to
this section.

John A. Ludlum, the senior member of the firm of Ludlum & Crist, hardware dealers of Roodhouse, Greene County Illinois was born in Iowa county, Wisconsin, on the 26th of October, 1870. His paternal grandparents were Henry and Martha Ludlum, who were of German parents. Lewis Ludlum, his father, who was born in 1847, died in Yuma, Colorado, in 1898. His wife bore the maiden name of Martha Smith and was a daughter of John Smith, of Scotch ancestry. John A. Ludlum acquired his education in the public schools and afterward learned the tinner's trade in Pindar, Nebraska, under Thomas Critle, the leading hardware merchant of that place. He became a capable workman, thoroughly familiar with the business in every department, and in 1891 he founded the hardware business of the present firm in Roodhouse, entering into partnership with Charles H. Crist, under the firm style of Ludlum & Crist. They have prospered from the beginning and have a well equipped store, in which they are meeting with excellent success, having secured a large and constantly growing patronage. For seventeen years Mr. Ludlum has been connected with the tinning business and hardware trade and his long experience as a journeyman well equipped him for the work which he now conducts. Mr. Ludlum is a believer in the Adventist doctrine and holds a membership with that society. In politics he is a Republican but has no political aspirations or ambitions for himself. Fraternally he is connected with the Modern Woodmen of America. He was married April 11, 1899, to Miss Stella M. Gibson, of this place, and they have a wide and favorable acquaintance, enjoying the warm regard of many friends, while Mr. Ludlum has the entire confidence of the business community.

1905 "Ludlum Bros. have just finished delivering fourteen hundred bushels of wheat to Mr. Schramm."
1905 "Miss Mary Ludlum, accompanied by her brother, Alex, left Tuesday afternoon for Denver, where she goes to again receive surgical treatment for curvature of the spine."
1906 "Maude and Allen Ivey of Raymond, Neb., friends of Alex and Mary Ludlum, took homesteads in Wages last week."
In 1907 he advertised as a notary public in Yuma, selling fire and lightning life insurance.
1904 "Frank Ludlum built a tower and put an Aermotor mill for Gummer on Monday ( a windmill for Henry Gummer)
Francis M. Ludlum married Ethel C. Bellmont December 27, 1909.

In 1910 Yuma County Frank Ludlum is 52, born in Wisconsin just married to Ethel, 24, California
1912 
His 1920 passport application said he was born August 30, 1855 in Iowa County, Wisconsin, that he was a ranchman, and he was planning to sail to Cuba to purchase land.
Anyone interested in a copy of the U.S. Department of State's "Report of the
Death of an American Citizen" for Mr. Frank Ludlum, please contact me so I can
conduct research to locate the record. Mr. Ludlum died in Cuba on July 28, 1936.

Fairmount cemetery has a stone "Julia J. Ludlum - Feb 16, 1864 - June 21, 1902" "Maude Dec 18, 1886 - Aug 5, 1888" and a tree says "Julia-Knudson married George Ludlum. Lived in East Portland, Ore. 1890. Also, in Colorado. Buried at Denver, Colorado"
1913 "J.A. Ludlum, of Roodhouse, Ill., arrived last week for an extended visit with his uncles, Frank and Alex Ludlum."
1901 "Miss Hellen Ludlum of Denver, niece of Alex Ludlum, visited at his home a few days this week."
The Yuma cemetery has an Alexander Ludlum May 22, 1845 - Oct 18, 1915, and next to it a "Louis or Frank Ludlum" and wife.
In 1914 Alexander was admitted to the Hot Springs, South Dakota veterans sanitarium.
