John Glantz

In 1880 Fillmore County, Nebaska, John Glantz is 55, Anna C. 53. John is 22, Maggie 13, and Conrad 9.
Maggie married George Nolde and in 1900 they're in Rush County, Kansas with Anna 14, Lizzie 13, Henr y A. 6, and Louis 3. She's buried in Edwards County, Kansas 1868-1945.

Anna Elizabeth 1849-1917 married Henry Deering, settling in Yuma, and are buried in Yuma # 75544968.

In 1900 Yuma County, John Glanz born Nov 1857 in Russia, with Emma Sept 1857 Russia, have been married 21 years. She's had ten kids, seven living. John Sept 1881 Nebraska, Henry Jan 1883 Nebraska, Lizzie June 1884 Benjamie William 1890, Colorado Thomas Jan 1892 Colorado Emma Feb 1897 Colorado and Margaret 1899 Colorado.

In 1910 Yuma County, John and Emma have Willie 19, Tom 16, and Margaret 11.

In 1930 "Joshua John" Glantz and Charity are living on South Birch Street in Yuma, and they're still there in 1940.

John Glantz, living on section 24, township 5, range 49, in Washington county, Colorado, twenty miles northwest of Yuma, was born in Russia, November 25, 1860, a son of John and Catherine (Yost) Glantz, who were also natives of that country. The father followed farming in Russia and on coming to America in 1877 made his way to Fillmore county. Nebraska, where he worked by the day and month, thus gaining a start in the new world. He was desirous, however, of engaging in business on his own account that his labors might more directly benefit himself and later he rented land, which he continued to cultivate until 1S91. He then removed to Washington county, Colorado, where he took up a preemption and a homestead, proving up on two quarter sections. He continued to farm this, or else had it cultivated by his son, and resided upon the property throughout his remaining days, his death occurring in 1906. His widow survived him for a few years, passing away in 1912. John Glantz was a youth of seventeen years when he accompanied his parents on the voyage across the Atlantic to the United States. The greater part of his education has been acquired in this country and, possessing an observing eye and retentive memory, he is constantly adding to his knowledge. In 1885 he came to Colorado and took up a preemption in Washington county. He also secured a homestead adjoining and improved the place, continuing its further development and cultivation for about fifteen years. He then purchased a half section in Yuma county, which he also improved, and continued to operate that ranch for twelve years. In 1914 he came to his present place, comprising a half section of land, which he has also further developed and improved. It is now in excellent condition. He has since cultivated it and it is the third farm which he has improved, so that he has added in large measure to the material progress of the community. In 1881 Mr. Glantz was united in marriage to Miss Emma Yost, by whom he had eight children, as follows: John, who has passed away; Henry, a resident of Sterling, Colorado; William, who follows farming in Yuma county; Thomas, also an agriculturist of Yuma county, Colorado; Mrs. Margaret Cook [should be Kuecke], of Yuma; Lizzie, who makes her home in Harvard, Nebraska; and Carl and August, who died when five and three years of age respectively. On the 19th of October, 1914, Mr. Glantz was again married, his second union being with Charity N. (Carr) Draper, who had four children by a former marriage, namely: William Leo, who was born in August, 1884; C. Walter, whose birth occurred in June, 1886, and who passed away in 1890, when but four years of age; Prank N., whose natal day was October 25, 1889; and May, who was born October 10, 1892, and is now the wife of Ed Itten, a farmer of Yuma county. In community affairs Mr. Glantz has taken an active and helpful interest. He served for two terms on the school board and he cooperates in all movements for the public good. His political allegiance is given to the republican party but he does not seek nor desire office, preferring to concentrate his efforts and attention upon his business affairs. His ranching interests have been wisely and carefully conducted and he has gained a very substantial measure of success. He now makes a specialty of raising Belgian horses and high-grade cattle and he is also a stockholder of the Farmers Equity Elevator Company of Yuma and of the Farmers Union Elevator & Lumber Company of Yuma. His life record should serve to inspire and encourage others, showing what may be accomplished through individual effort and honorable dealing. Charity 1863-1941 # 49997234 is buried in Yuma, with Johannes 1859-1948 # 49997236.

In 1910 Clay County (as in 1900, on the same page as some Yost and Hamburger families) Peter is 41, Lizzie 38, Willie W. 18, Harry P. 17, Joseph 15, Josie 12, and Leslie 4.
Peter and Elizabeth are alone in 1930 and 1940 Clay County.

Henry Nick Glantz was born at Harvard, Clay County, Nebraska January 6, 1883.

In 1900 Adams County, Nebraska, Charles Oliver is a laborer, 48 born in Pennslvania, and Ella 41 Illinois, have Lena Nov 1884, Marilla January 1888, and Emory October 1892, all three born in Nebraska.
William C. Oliver 1852-1944 is buried in the same cemetery in Adams County # 68058781, with Margaret Ella Oliver 1858-1910, # 68058766.
April 1905 Yuma "Henry Glantz, who has charge of the section at Kenesaw, Nebraska, came up home Monday to see his little sister."

May 1907 "Mr. and Mrs. Henry Glantz of Kenesaw, Neb., visited this week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Glantz. "

October 1907 "Henry Glantz, who has been section foreman on the cutoff near Kenesaw, Neb., now has charge, of an extra gang at McCook."

In 1910 Henry is in Kenesaw, Adams County, Nebraska, 27, with Marilla 22, Harley 3, and a month-old daughter.

Harley R. Glantz 1906-1925 is buried in Kenesaw, Nebraska, # 70346549 saying he died in Logan County, Colorado.

In 1920 Logan County, Colorado, Henry is a railroad foreman, widowed, 37, with Zede M. 9 both born in Nebraska. His father-in-law Charles Oliver 67 Pennsylvania is with him.

Henry is widowed in 1930 Logan County, living alone.

February 19, 1953 "Mrs. Margaret Kuecke was called to Hastings, Nebraska last Wednesday by the serious illiness of her brother, Henry Glantz, who... died. They funeral was held..day at Harvard Nebraska, with burial in Kenesaw Nebraska. Mrs. Kuecke was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. J. Schad of Denver, son-in-law and daughter of Glantz."

Zada Mae Glantz married George R. Schad July 24, 1928, license issued in Sedgwick County, recorded in Logan County. The ceremony was prfoemd in Steling by G. M. Henderson, minister.

John was born March 29, 1907 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

On November 13, 1886, Charlotte Schad was born in Schilling, Russia. Charlotte met Conrad Helmut when her family moved to Konstantinovka. They were married there in February, 1905. In 1907, they began their journey to America from Leiback, Russia, with their daughter, Mollie. They docked in Halifax, Nova Scotia. From there, they traveled by rail to Winnipeg. On July 14, 1913, they boarded the Minneapolis, St. Paul & Sault Saint Marie train with their four children, Mollie, Lydia, Mary and George. They arrived in Noyes, Minnesota on July 15 and went on to Sterling, arriving August 15, 1913.
Conrad and Charlotte farmed in the Merino and Atwood areas and were parents to twelve children: Mollie, Lydia, Mary, George, Emma, John, Pauline, Rose, Conrad, Jean, Harry and Victor. Conrad passed away on April 20, 1965, in Sterling, on April 20, 1965. Charlotte passed away in Brush, on January 19, 1954. They are both buried in Riverside cemetery in Sterling.

In 1938 Denver, Junas (Zada M.) Schad is a service station attendant, and they live at 2555 15th.
Junas was born October 5, 1915 at Sterling, Colorado to George Schad and Katherine Schledwitz, and died February 2, 1992.

In 1948 Denver, Junas (Zada M.) works at Bartz Motor, Co, and they live at 2926 W. 27th.

In 1956 Junas is a shipping clerk at Homestead Bread, with Zada M. living at 3425 W. 34th.

She's buried in section 51, block 38, space 1.

In 1973 Junas (Eliz) Schad is an oven man for Star Bakery, and lives at 3467 W. Dakota in Denver.
In 1979 Denver, Junas is retired, with Eliz V. at 248 Newton St.
Junas Schad's obituary was on page 8D of the Denver Post February 15, 1992.

April 12 1934 "Mrs. John Glantz was summoned to Denver Saturday by the death of her -year-old granddaughter."

December 2, 1937 "Mrs.John Glantz has returned from Denver where she spent Thanksgiving Day with her daughter, Mrs. E. Itten, and her son, Frank N. Draper. She made the trip with her granddaughter, Inez Itten, who is teaching her second year in the high school at Otis."
