John and Caroline Dietz

John said he had immigrated in 1855

In 1870 Platte County, Missouri, Caroline Desert, 18, and Casper 13, both born in Missouri, are with Joseph, 59, Baden and Dora Ruf, 50, Switzerland.

John and Caroline married in Weston, Platte County September 26, 1871.

John Dietz had an ad in 1878 for Boots and Shoes in the Pueblo newspaper for his store in Garland - about halfway to Silver Cliff.

In 1880 Custer County, Colorado John and Carried have George C. 7, Joseph A. 4.

In 1889 John was running for Custer County treasurer

John proved up a quarter in 10, 4N 48W in 1896, and cash-claimed a quarter to the north in 1891.

1895 "Gus Gertisen and wife and Mrs. John Chance and children, all of Alamosa, were here on a camping-out trip last Thursday.  Mrs. Chance is a neice (sic) of Mrs. John Dietz, of this place."

1893 "John Dietz and family left today for the World's Fair.  they will probably be gone a month."

"John Dietz has gone into the grocery business at Pond Creek in the Cherokee strip."

1894 Silver Cliff "Mrs. John Dietz left last week for Weston, Mo., on a visit."

One poster wrote "My Dietz family arrived in Missouri sometime before 1843 from Germany
(sometimes they indicated Bavaria on Census). I have a John Dietz who
married Caroline Dessert in Weston Missouri Sept. 26, 1871. I believe he
had previously been living in Kansas but may have come to Weston as a
young boy."

John Dietz has returned from Oklahoma to Silver Cliff.

1895 "Mrs. John Dietz and sons Walter and Joe, left for Denver yesterday morning to join Mr. Dietz.  They

July 7, 1896 Dietz Grocery Co. filed for incorporation.

1899 Silver Cliff

Joseph Dietz married Gertrude Taber January 11, 1899.

In 1900 Denver, John Dec 1847 in Germany, married 28 years to   Carrie,. June 1852 Missouri, Walter June 1882 Colorado, and aunt Dorothy Ruff, June 1814 in Switzerland, widowed, no living children.

Walter P. Dietz married Grace D. Bell July 21, 1909.

In 1910 Denver John, 62 manages a mercantile business Caroline is 57, both born in Germany.  Walter P. is 27, a grocery clerk, born in Colorado, married to Grace D. 24, Nebraska

John 1847 - 1911 and Caroline 1852 -1940 are buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Denver.

So are Walter P. 1882 -1952 and Grace D. 1886-1949, and Joseph A. 1876-1948 and Gertrude E. 1875-1949

Carrie has had four kids, three living.

1914 Silver Cliff "Mrs. John Dietz left Wednesday on her return to Denver, her home.  She stopped in Canon City en route for a visit with friends."
