In 1870 Onondaga County, New York, Asa D. is 24, works on the farm of John and Clarissa , with Frank P. 22, William 20, Chatfield 15, , James 11, Phoebe 8, Lydia 5, and Fannie 2.
In 1898 Littleton, Colorado "Miss Alice Whitmore of Denver was a guest of Miss Lelia Goddard Sunday."
In 1900 Arapahoe County, Colorado, Asa Whitmore born Nov 1845 in New York, married 33 years to Maggie M. Oct 1847 New York, have Clara N. Dec 1876 Nebraska, Albert D. Alice is in the state hospital in Pueblo in 1920, 39, born in Nebraska - said she was married.
Asa is also in Denver, living with daughter Clara Wochler (Woehler) , 43 and her husband Albert, 44.

Edna Josephine PURCELL was born on 21 May 1868 in Massac County, Illinois, per one tree.
In 1880 Stoddard County, Missouri, Edward J. 46 and Martha D. 42 have Horace B. 18, Mary J. 17, Lizza 15, Minnie B. 13, Edne J. 12, Philip E. 10, Fredrick W. 8, Sonora G. 6, Roland R. 4, and Martha A. 2. (Minnie married Joseph Lacock and is buried in Stoddard County 1865-1954 # 27071306) ("Sonora" is Anna Georgiana Purcell, married Francis "Frank" Weaver, lived in Butler County, Nebraska - buried there 1874-1954 # 22026630) (Martha Alice married Walter Landry, died 1915 in Union County, Oregon. Walter died 1961, buried in Yakima Washington. 128387146). (Edna's aunt Martha D. Moseley born 1839 married Francis H. Weaver)
Mrs. Martha Mattie Jane Autry Whitmore was born in Stoddard Co., Missouri, May 28, 1888. At the age of thirteen, she and her grandmother went to Spokane, Washington. In December of the same year, she came to Surprise, Nebraska where she has since lived. She was converted in the spring of 1904 at the Pleasant Lawn Church. She was baptized and united with the Baptist Church at Surprise, Nebraska March 31, 1907. She was united in marriage to Clyde Whitmore Sept. 10, 1906. Died Oct. 19, 1907 aged 19 years, 4 months, 22 days. Clyde was the son of William Whitmore, born about 1860 in Illinois, and Emma, born about 1863 in Illinois.
In 1900 Stoddard County, Edna is a servant in the Francis and Ollin Walser house.
In 1903 Spokane Washington Edna J. Purcell lives at 1124 Nettie. At the same address is Martha D. (Wid Edward), Oscar D. Purcell, a "mach hand", and Roland R. a laborer at a lumber yard.
Edna, 44, married "Ash" D. Whitmore, 67, in Wray December 17, 1912, ceremony performed by minister F.W. Imbaden of Wray.
In 1914 Mrs. Edna Purcell was delinquent on taxes for improvements only in the northeast of 17, 3S 45W.
Edna P. Whitmore is a boarder in the A.E. and Amy Miller household in 1930 Eckley precinct. She's 68, widowed.
Edna P. Whitmore is widowed in 1940 Eckley, Colorado, no occupation.
She died on 22 May 1944 in Yuma, Yuma, Colorado. and is buried in Yuma # 74390346.
EDNA'S PARENTS
Edward Jordan PURCELL was born on 21 Oct 1835 in Jackson County, Tennessee. He appeared on the census on 23 Aug 1850 in Perry County, Illinois 0108/0108. He appeared on the census on 25 Jul 1860 in Franklin County, Illinois 0809/0809. He died on 31 Jan 1896 in Puxico, Stoddard, Missouri. He was buried in Poco Cemetery, Pope County, Illinois. Edward and Martha lived in Massac County Illinois until about 1880 when they moved to Stoddard County Missouri. Lived there until Edward's death and Martha continued living there until 1904. From then until her death in 1918 she lived with her various children in Nebraska, Washington, Colorado and Missouri. Her daughter Edna was her travelling companion for much of Martha's life
Also in Stoddard County in 1900 is Martha, born Nov 1838 in Kentucky, widowed. Roland, Alice, Oscar - born January 1883-and granddaughter Mattie Autry born May 1888.
Also in Stoddard County in 1900 are A.A. Ford 41, J.M.. born Feb 1863 in Illinois, with Bernie 12,Dessa 7, Vena 4, and Girtie August 1881.

ALBERT
In 1930 Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Albert D. 51, Nebraska, a carpenter first married at 28, is married to Nelly J. 50 born in Illinois, first married at 16. So Albert married about 1907, Nelly 1896.
They're still in Glenwood Springs in 1940.

In 1910 Lincoln County, Albert A. is 39, born in Illinois, living with his brother Seth C. 34 and his wife Delpha and son Donald. Another brother Edwin, 37 with his wife and four kids, and another brother Ezekiel 31 are with them, too.
Seth Whitmore was born to Albert Whitmore and his wife, Sarah
Meechem in Gardner, Illinois in 1876. He married Delpha Lippincott on
December 26, 1906 in Shelton, Nebraska. She was the second child of
"Big" Lippincott and Lillie E. Houtz. She had been born on Elm Island,
near to Kenesaw, Adams County, Nebraska. To this union were born the following children; Genevieve Whitmore - b. June 24, 1914 in Arroyo, Colorado & Estelyn Whitmore - b. November 16, 1918 in Kirk, Colorado. Genevieve married Robert Piper and had 2 children. Estelyn Married Lewis Van Natten and they had 5 children. Delpha passed away in 1949 and Seth entered eternal rest in 1954 and rests beside his wife. |

In 1930 Kit Carson County, Albert Whitmore is 60, widowed, born in Illinois, daughter Bessie is 16, born in Nebraska.
Albert A. Whitmore -1869-1930 is buried in Kirk.- So is Bessie 1913-2003 and Sarah 1916-1917.
ORACE
Orace "Duddley" Whitmore registered in Wiggins, Colorado, born April 14, 1880.
O.D. Whitmore and Anna Whitmore divorced in Denver in 1920. (Wonder if Anna then married O.D.'s brother Grant?)
Orace Duddley Whitmore, son of Asa B. Whitmore and Margaret Beard, married Mary E. Foster in Weber Utah October 9, 1922.
In 1940 Glenns Ferry, Elmore County, Idaho, Orace is 67, born in Michigan a caretaker of a park, with Marie 56.
Orace 1871-1946 and Mary 1881- are buried in Glenns Ferry, Idaho #73516654
CLARA
Albert W. Woehler married Clara Whitmore Sept 24, 1902, recorded in Denver.
Clara is in Denver in 1910 - Albert Woehler is a worker in a meat market. In 1920 Asa is living with them.
In 1930 Denver, Albert W. Woehler born 1876 in Ohio, is widowed, a meat cutter, living alone on South Lincoln Street.
A.W. Woehler married Jean Toffling August 22, 1929, recorded in Arapahoe County.
GRANT
In 1910 Yuma County, on the same census page as Asa, is Grant, born in Nebraska about 1884 married to Kate, about 1871 in Illinois.
Grant Simpson Whitmore registerd in Denver, farmer, born April 19, 1885.
Grant and Kate are in Denver in 1920, Grant a building laborer. Catherine Whitmore was probated in 1920 Denver.
Grant married Anna M. Whitmore May 20, 1922, recorded in Jefferson County.
In 1930 Denver, Grant is a building laborer, 44, married to Anna, 50, born in Germany- she said she was 42 when first married. George Whitmore, 24, , a boarder, born in Colorado, is also a building laborer. This has to be Orace's son, so George was staying with his uncle Grant.
George M. Whitmore married Mary Hannigan Sept 6, 1935, recorded in Denver.
In 1940 Denver, on West Dakota Avenue, Grant S. a building laborer, and Anna M. are alone. The next household is George M. Whitmore, an iron worker, 34, married to Mary J. 25, Nebraska.
