George Washington Sigwing and Nancy Ann Sigwing, son Ralph R. Sigwing,    Mildred

In 1900 Red Willow County, Nebraska, George W, born March 1860 in Indiana, married 12 years to Nancy A. born Oct 1864 in Missouri, have Delbert March 1890, Albert March 1890, Myrtle M. March 1893, Ralph R. Aug 1894, and Francis H. January 1897 - these kids born in Kansas, and Charles July 1899 Nebraska.

They're still in Red Willow County in 1910, with Delbert, Albert Mertie M. Ralph R., Francis H.,  Charles, and have added Ethel 8, William 6, and Glen 4.

Francis Henry Sigwing registered with a Vernon address, born January 3, 1897 at Crawford Kansas, nearst relative his father George of Vernon.

1911 Wray "G.W. Sigwing of north of town was in town Saturday."

1912 "George Sigwing, who lived in the sandhills, has moved on a farm northwest of Vernon which he has rented for the next year."

1915 marriage license issued to Paul Brady and Myrtle Sigwing, both parties of Vernon.  The wedding ceremony was solemnized Sunday morning at the Catholic church, the Rev. Father Jully officiating.

1917 Vernon "George Sigwing has his new house nearly completed and his outside buildings finished.  The house has five rooms."
 

R.R. Sigwing, 21, married Zilpha Pevler, 18, in Wray February 23, 1916.

Will Sigwing was a pupil in 1917 at the Riverside School.

1918 "Mrs. Hubbard of Culbertson, Nebraska, sister of G.W. Sigwing, living west of Vernon, came up to Wray Tuesday for a visit with her brother and family."


Jchilgenberg wrote "George and Nancy Sigwing were my great grandparents. Mary's last name was Crager she and Simon are buried in Cedar Bluff, Kansas. Nancy died in Yuma county at my grandmother Myrtia Sigwing Brady's home. George and Nancy are both buried in McCook Nebraska. Nancy did love to smoke a corn cob pipe and would often hide it in her apron. Once starting her apron pocket to smoke-per her daughter-in-law Maxine Sigwing. I do not have much info on Nancy at this point but will share as I can. "

Ralph proved up two quarter in 20 and 29, 3S 45W in 1920.

In 1930 Vernon precinct, Yuma County, Ralph is 34, born in Nebraska, Ella L. 31, Illinois.  They have Ethel D. 13, Stella L.12, George A.10, and three-year-olds Vera L. and Melvin D.

In 1940 Yuma County, Ralph and Zelpha have Vera L. 15, Melvin D. 13, Elva 9, and Evelyn E. 3.

Melvin enlisted in the army February 20, 1945.

In 1953 Denver, Ralph R. Sigwing  is a factory worker at Gates Rubber.

1966 Beatrice Nebraska "Dinner guests in the Milo Placek home were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Placek and Teresa, Ralph Sigwing. Denver, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Reckling and sons, and Elmer Hessheimer and David, Crete, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sobotka and family, Lincoln, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hessheimer and son."

Golden cemetery " WILLIAMS Ella Sigwing 07/08/1898 - 09/18/1972 Mother"  The Golden cemetery said that the full name in their records is "Zelpha Ella Sigwing Williams"   101616663.

SSDI has Ralph born August 20, 1849, died September 1980, last residence Daykin, Nebraska, last benefit Longmont, Colorado.

Ethel D. Sigwing married Walter J. Crabtree March 21, 1936, recorded in Yuma County.

Vera L. Sigwing is a waitress in Lincoln Nebraska in 1958.

In August 1959, Robert Placek and Vera Sigwing of 3764 Garfield, Lincoln had a daughter.

Robert J. "Bob" Placek, 83, of Daykin, Neb., passed away September 2, 2011 in Lincoln, Neb. Born November 6, 1927 to Edward and Emma Placek.
 
Preceded in death by his parents, wife: Vera; sisters: Emma, Sylvia; brother: Milo; step sister: Bertha; step brother: Donald. Survivors: Daughter and son in law: Teresa and Gene Slama; Grandchildren: Robbie Slama, Telisha Slama, all of Daykin; Sister: Marie Sukovaty of Wilber.
 
Funeral Services: Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber, NE. Visitation: Tuesday, 5-9 p.m., funeral home. Interment: Swanton Cemetery. Memorials in care of the family. Kuncl Funeral Home of Wilber is in charge of arrangements.

Vera 1924-1987 is also buried in Swan Valley Cemetery, Swanton # 137363095

1972 Greeley  "Mr. and Mrs. Walter Crabtree recently returned home from a three week trip to Savannah, Mo. En route to and from Missouri they visited her father, Ralph Sigwing and sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Placek at Dayken, Neb."

Walter H. Crabtree of Pierce died early Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Weld County General Hospital. He was a retired construction foreman and millwright. Born at Tecumseh, Neb., brother, Robert Laramie, Wyo.

Ethel Dora Crabtree, 97, of Windsor, died March 12, 2014, at Windsor Healthcare Center. She was born Aug. 9, 1916, in Vernon, Colo.

Ethel was a wonderful cook, enjoyed embroidery, and crocheting.

Ethel is survived by her sisters, Stella Crabtree of Longmont, Elva (Ernest Jr.) Warren of Eaton, and Evelyn (Ralph Sr.) Clapper of Oberlin, Kan.; brother, Melvin (Adelaide) Sigwing of Pahrump, Nev.; sister-in-law, Fern Sigwing of Wray; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, who will all remember her lovingly.

Visitation will be held from 12-1:30 p.m. Monday, March 17, at Stoddard Funeral Home, graveside service following at 2 p.m., at Linn Grove Cemetery.  # 129549562

Charles Sigwing, 92, was born July 28, 1899 and passed away March 31, 1992 at Brush. Services were April 3 at Schmidt Mortary. Interment was in Grandview.

Charles was born near McCook, Nebraska, to Nancy and George Washington Sigwing. He was one of nine children. The family moved to the Wray area in 1910. Later the family moved to a farm five miles west of Vernon. Charles attended country schools in both places.

He was married to Mayme Foster on August 4, 1923. They had two daughters. He was employed by the Yuma County road department, the Patrick J. Sullivan ranch and later worked as a carpenter until he retired in 1965. He belonged to the Wray IOOF. He moved to the Eben Ezer Nursing Home in Brush in 1989 to be near family.

Preceding him were his wife, Mayme, daughter, Leola Cornell, sister, Myrtia Brady and brothers, Delbert, Albert, Ralph, Jack and Glen.

Survived by: His daughter and her husband, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a brother and his wife, and a sister.

Mayme Foster was born on March 25, 1900, in Washington, Kansas. She died at Wray on January 20, 1953. She was married to Charles Sigwing on Aug 4, 1923. Surviving are two daughters, Shirley and Leola, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Brothers; Ray, Wesley F, Guy, Jim, Roxie and Olen. Sisters; Fern Hester, Jessie Tremis, Marie Naylor, June Cornell, Lucy Wilkins.

DELBERT

Delbert Sigwing married Lesley Weeks Carleton May 2, 1918, recorded in Larimer County, Colorado.

They're in Loveland, Colorado in 1920.  Delbert is 29, Lesley 26, born in Colorado, father Massachusetts, mother Illinios.  Delbert is a bookkeeper at the sugar factory.

Delbert is in Lovell, Wyoming in 1940, a cashier for Great Western Sugar, married to Lesley, 47, born in Colorado.

Delbert 1890-1981 and Lesley 1893-1984 are buried in Lakeside Cemetery, Loveland, Colorado.

George and Nancy left an extensive record in Red Willow County, Nebraska where they appear in the 1900 and 1910 census and are listed as buried in lot 4-17 in the Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook.

George Sigwing 3-10-1860 to 3-10-1931 and Nancy Ann Sigwing 10-9-1864 to 3-16-1939. There are two sons(?) buried in the same plot; Francis and Glenn Sigwing.

 Zetta Cosby Sigwing, age 90 of Tazewell, TN, was born Jan.27, 1908 and passed away Mar.18,1998 at Claiborne Co. Hospital in Tazewell.
She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frances Henry Sigwing; her parents, William and Louvernie (Whitaker) Cosby; brothers, Sterling, Arthur, Ed, Maynard, Gillis and Ira Cosby; sisters, Mary Lambert, Lucy Sandifur and Ethel Cosby.
Survivors: brother, Dewey Cosby of Tazewell; half brother, Millard Cosby of Harrogate; half sister, Janie Lloyd of MI; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held 11am Sat. Mar.21 in Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Cosby and Rev. Clyde Daniels officiating. Singers were the Riverside Baptist Church singers. Burial in the Poplar Grove Cemetery. #

Maxine Violet Sigwing, age 95, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, Nebraska. She was born in McCook, Nebraska, June 10, 1918, to Eric D. and Arvilla G (Jeffers) Dugger. She was united in marriage to William (Bill) Sigwing on March 1, 1934, in Oberlin, Kansas. They spent 60 years together working hard, fishing, and traveling to see family before Bill preceded her in death in 1994...

Hamburg, Iowa 1969 "Jack Sigwing is a patient in the Fairfax Hospital. He has pneumonia. His brother and sister- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sigwing of McCook, Nebr. spent the weekend here and visited him."

1971 Hamburg "Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sigwing of McCook and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sigwing of Omaha visited in the Jack Sigwing home Sunday. "

STELLA

# 33722175 has Stella Crabtree, born 1918 but no death date, in Mountain View Cemetery, Longmont.  On the same stone as Allen1915-2005

Stella Sigwing married Allen Crabtree January 15, 1936, recorded in Yuma County.

Allen enlisted May 12, 1943 in the army, married.

In 1957 they're living in Englewood, Colorado, and Allen is an annealer at the Denver Mint.

GEORGE

In 1940 Wray, George Sigwing lives on South Railway Street with Harold Hinz.  George is 19, born in Colorado, a garage mechanic.

 George died August 15, 1997 in Pearce, Cochise County, Arizona.
