Margaret Downey is also in Webster County in 1870 and 1880, with father Thomas
and mother Ellen. Ellen is not in the 1880 census, and FindAGrave has her
dying 1873, buried in Fort Dodge, Webster County.17059632.
Likely Thomas Downey is the one buried in Yuma County. 82117687, and the Mary DOWNEY Rolow in that six-grave cemetery is likely his daughter.

In 1920 Hale Bernard and Margaret have Mary 28, a milliner, Meleda 25, a school teacher, Leo B. 24, farmer, Elizabeth 22, Thomas M. 20, and Gertrude 17.

He's with his parents in the 1920 census, but married Mary Agnes O'Rourke October 6, 1920 - recorded in Denver. Performed by J.J. Donnelly, Catholic priest.
In 1930 B.Leo "Dealin" is at Hale, married to Mary A. 35, with mark Leo 8, Margaret 6, Teresa A. 4, Charles E. 2, and Fred Wages , 16 a servant.
In 1940 B.Leo is 44, Mary A. 45, with L. Mark 18, Margaret M. 16, Teresa A. 14, Charles E. 12, Thomas P. 9, Bernard T. 7, Joseph P. 5, and Catherine A. 2.
The supplementary questions had James J. Rolow born to James F. Rolow born in Iowa and Dacia Rolow born in Missouri, and Mary A. Devlin born to Charles O'Rourke and Mary O'Rourke.

In 1870 Webster County, Iowa, Thos Downey is 40, Ellen 33, Mary 15, Michael 11, Margaret 9, John 7, Thomas 5, Kate 3, and Johanna three months.
In 1880 Webster County "Thonas" is 48, Mary 24, Michel 21, Margaret 19, John 16, Thomas 13, and Katherine 12.
In 1900 the Wray paper said that Thomas J. Downey "For heirs of Thomas Downey, deceased" filed to complete Thomas' land claim. So old Tom died before 1901.
In 1920 Hale precinct Thomas J. Downey 52 and Nellie 43 have adopted daughters Rose O'Hearn 18 and Mary O'Hearn 15, both born in Colorado.

Charles Eugene Devlin, 86, of Brush, formerly of the Idalia area,
died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center, Brush.
Charles was born on February 13, 1928 in Hale, Colorado at the homestead
to Bernard Leo and Mary Agnes (O’Rourke) Devlin. Charles was raised and
educated in Idalia, Colorado, where he grew up on the farm, which was
homesteaded by his grandfather Bernard Eugene Devlin. On September 2,
1950, he married Barbara Ann Jewell at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in
Wray. After their marriage they farmed the homestead. As a farmer and
rancher, Charles worked every aspect, which often included calving and
herding cattle on horseback, even in blizzards, working the fields, and
harvesting. Charles received the High Ten Award from Great Western Sugar
Company for sugar beet production. Charles was a member of Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church in Las Vegas, Nevada and was a longtime member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Wray before retiring from the farm and moving to Las Vegas in 1993. Barbara and “Gene” lived in Las Vegas until 2013 when they returned to Colorado and resided at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. Charles was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. He was a man who lived his faith by always being willing to help someone in need and only asked in return that they help another in need. He was very hard-working man, a trait that he instilled in his children. Above all was his outward love, devotion, and care of his family. Charles is survived by his wife, Barbara; three daughters, Paula Bragg (Bob) of Ft. Morgan, Gina Vincent of Riverton, Wyoming, Anita Rigney (Lee) of Allen, Texas; eight sons, Larry Devlin (Kathryn ) of Houston, Texas, Joe Devlin (Janis) of Littleton, Greg Devlin (Joye) of Idalia, Perry Devlin (Mardee) of Foothill Ranch, California, John Devlin (Gloria) of Las Vegas, Tom Devlin of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Brian Devlin of Las Vegas; two sisters, Teresa Blach of Yuma and Catherine Devlin (Tom) of Lawrence, Kansas; three brothers, Fr. Phillip Devlin of Lima, Peru, Terrance Devlin (Linda) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Paul Devlin (Mame) of Stillwater, Oklahoma; 35 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Devlin, grandson, Matthew Devlin, sister, Margaret Jones and brother Mark Devlin. Visitation was from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, Monday, June 16, 2014 followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 12:00 noon and Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brush. Interment 5:00 p.m. Monday at Grandview Cemetery in Wray. |
