In 1870 Hancock County, Illinois John W. Collins, 45 Maryland and Mary 49, New York have Lora E. 13 and Reuben D. 10, both born in Illinois.
In 1880 Hancock County Ruben is a boarder with the David and Laura 22, Esterbrook family and their one-year old Alvin. Ruben is listed as "arm off". Laura almost certainly is his sister. Lora Collins married David M. Easterbrook Nov 4, 1877 in Hancock . David married Lydia Van Vactor about 1887, so Lora must have died. He's in Marshall County Kansas in 1895, with Lyda and four kids, and a David M. Marshall and "infant Marshall" died there per Kansas Vital Records Abstract. - one tree said 1896
David "Estabrooks" is 23 in the 1870 Hancock County census, with Mary A. 47, Mary A 16, and Andrew J. 14.
Reuben proved up a quarter in 2, 4S 43W in 1892.
In 1900 Lansing precinct Reuben is single, born May 1860 in Illinois, father in Maryland, mother in New York
In 1906 Reuben's quarter was to be sold at auction - apparently he defaulted on a $200 note to Elsie M. Greatsinger.
Reuben D. Collins is in Gilliam County, Oregon in 1910, a hired man living with five others.
1914 Armel news "Reuben Collins has returned to this part of the county after being gone for a number of years."
In 1920 Reuben, a farm laborer, is lodging with the Henry Gerber family - they were in the Idalia area.
In 1930 Armel Reuben is 70, boarding with the Ferman Sones family. With no family, he could be in an unmarked grave in Armel or Glendale.....
