Gottlieb Pleis

Gottlieb Pleis, age 26, arrived in the U.S. in 1877 from Stetten Germany via Bremen and Southampton. He was on the manifest after Anna Spirk, 23, Carole Bloch 16, and before Theodor Herr 16 and Auge Fanke 57 (wife)

Gottlieb proved up a quarter in 22, 3S 43W in 1899.  In 1900 he's in Lansing preinct, single, born Nov 1860, farming, immigrating in 1887, naturalized.

1902 "Fritz Soehner and George Pleist of Idalia, were in Haigler Tuesday." (the Soehner's were on the same page on most census lists.)

He's still single in 1910 Lansing. In 1911 "the Roach Bros. have been busily employed recently drilling a well for G. Pleis."

And in 1920 he said he was naturalized in 1892. In 1920 he owned the same quarter, with his residence exactly in the middle of it.

He's still in Yuma County in 1930

The 1934 directory has "Pleis G.P." in section 22, 3S 43W. Gottlieb Pleis -1860-1934 is buried in Armel, per # 73826321.
