Henry Nicklos, Lansing
Robert S. Kayton married Rebecca McFatridge Sept 16, 1857 in Monroe County, Iowa, and also in Monroe County, married Margaret J. Hellyer August 3, 1877.
Lydia Ann Jane Kayton was born April 3, 1863 in Monroe County, Iowa, married Henry Nicklos Dec 6, 1882.
Her mother, Rebecca Jane McFatridge Kayton died in 1874, and is buried in Iowa # 73457661
. She was the mother of Henry Clay, David Michael, Frances Miranda, Lydia Ann
Jane, Lou Ellen Edna, an infant son born and died December 11,
1867 (buried in Mills County, Iowa). An infant daughter born and died with mother on April 28, 1874 and buried next to mother.
In 1880 Mills County, Iowa, Robert "Cayton" is 46, his wife Margaret is 19. "liddie" , his daughter is 17, Francis, 14, Luella 10, and Stella 1.
In 1885 Butler County, Nebraska, H. Nichols is 22, Lydia 21, with daughter E., 2, born in Nebraska. With them is H. Eckert, 20 a farmhand.
Peter Eckert is in Butler County in 1885, farming, 22. His mother Elizabeth is 49, and sister Minnie 18, is a a dressmaker. All were born in Poland.
In 1900 York County, Nebraska, farming , Peter born June 1863
in Russia is a carpenter, married ten years to Ella B. March 1868 Pennsylvania.
They have Vangie M. June 1890, Jennie E. Dec 1891, Edith January 1894,
Hattie Feb 1896, Orb D. Sept 1899, all born in Nebraska,
and Elizabeth January 1837.
Henry proved up a quarter in 33, 3S 43W in 1892.
In 1900 Jasper County, Missouri, Henry "Nichols" born April 1856 in Germany, married 16 years to Lydia,
April 1863, have Eva Sept 1884 in Nebraska, Frances April 1886 Nebraska, Earl Apr 1889 Colorado,
Edna July 1891 Colorado, Joseph July 1884 Colorado, and George Feb 1897 Missouri.
Henry 1856-1928 # 66226717 and Lydia 1863-1942 # 66226613 are buried in Lamar, Colorado.
GEORGE
George registered in Lamar, working for his father, born in Henry Nickols (sic). George was born February 11, 1897 at Waco, Missouri., and said he was a naturalized citizen....
In 1930 Prowers County, George 32 and his mother Lydia Nicklos, 76 are farming.
In 1940 Prowers County, Colorado, Lydia is 77, born in Iowa, living with George 43, born in Missouri.
George died August 19, 1942, and is buried in La Junta, Colorado # 60311754.
FRANCIS
Francis Marie Nicklos married James L. Harris October 14, 1916 in Wiley, Prowers County, Colorado.
EARL
When Earl Henry Nicklos registered for WWI, living in Lamar, Colorado, he said he was born April 10, 1889 at Lansing, Colorado.
Earl died September 30, 1959, in Alameda County, California - mother's name Kayton. and is buried at Golden Gate National # 3614849, with Katherine 1882-1943.
WANDA
Wanda W. Ralston, born Feb 16, 1904 at Asbury, Missouri, died June 12, 1998 at Monroe.
Parents were Henry Nicklos and Lydia Kayton Nicklos, spouse Cornelius Ralston.
In 1930 Neil 37 and Wanda 26 Ralston are in Prowers County, Colorado.
In 1940 they're in Monroe County, Michigan, where Neil is an engineer at a feed mill, 47, born in Colorado. Wanda is 36, and they have Elaine, 5, born in COlorado.
Wanda 1904-1998 # 110859605 is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Monroe County, Michigan, with Neil -1893-1967.
JAY
1959 Greeley, Colorado " Mrs. Jay Nicklos, Mindy, and lark spent Christmas in Las Animas with her
husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nicklos. Jay Nicklos, who is attending CAA school in Oklahoma City,
joined them there. He will be completing his course in about three weeks. Mrs. Nicklos and the children
were in Las Animas from Tuesday until Saturday."
1962 Greeley "Spending the weekend with the Arnold Daltons were their grand children,
Mindy, Mark, Brad and Jeff Nicklos. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Nicklos were moving to Longmont
from Denver. He is with FAA and will commute. She is the former Bonnie Daiton."

Long time resident and businessman of Lancaster, Joseph Frederick Nicklos, 69, died Monday, at the Veteran's Hospital at Sepulveda following an illness of 3 months.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Mumaw Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dorsey Allen of the Community
Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Joshua Memorial Park. # 136119549.
Mr. Nicklos was born in Wray, Colorado, received his formal education at Lamar, Colo., and his technical schooling at Kansas City, Mo. He entered military service during World War I, and was wounded in the battle of the Meuse-Argonne in France.
Following his discharge in 1923, he settled in California and in 1930 moved his family to Lancaster, opening an automotive service on Sierra Highway called the "Inn Garage".
He later changed the name to Nicklos Automotive Service and was owner and operator until it was sold 2 moths ago.
He was a member of the Community Methodist Church, the Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 311, Veterans of World War I, and a past member of the Kiwanis Club, having served on the board of directors.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine May, and one daughter, Helen Sharon, of the home; another daughter, Mrs. Robert Rowell, of Lancaster and 1 son, James F. of Sacramento.
Also surviving are 4 sisters, Mrs. I. M. Ellenberger of Redwood City, Mrs. James Harris of Lamar, Colo., Mrs. Eva Sigars of Waco, Mo., Mrs. Niel Ralston of Dundee, Mich., and 2 brothers George Nicklos and Harold Nicklos both of Wiley, Colo.
Henry almost has to be related to George Nicklos, born July 24, 1859, living in Otero COunty in 1900, dying 1947 in Otero County
One tree said George, born about 1860 in Poland, and Catherine Klein born Juanuary 14, 1865 in Illinois, had Eda Susan Nicklos April 9, 1891 in Thurman, Washington COunty, Colorado.
It said Jesse Carl Nicklos was born January 28, 1894 in Flagler, Colorado.
Butler County Nebraska History : DAVID
BELSLEY, who is now successfully engaged in the grain business at
Bellwood, Butler county, as a member of the firm of Belsley, Allen
& Co., has led a life of honest effort. Throughout his career
of continued and far-reaching usefulness his duties have been
performed with the greatest care, and business interests have been
managed as to win him the confidence of the public and the
prosperity which should always attend honorable effort.
Mr. Belsley was born in Woodford
county, Illinois, November 26, 1855, and is a son of Joseph
Belsley, a native of France, born in Alsace-Lorraine, in 1812. As a
young man he came to this country in 1832 and settled in Woodford
county, Illinois, near Spring Bay, before the Indians had left
that region. At that time he was poor, but being industrious,
energetic and persevering, due success was not denied him, and at
his death was quite wealthy. In Peoria county, Illinois, he
married Miss Barbara Engle, daughter of Peter Engle, and they
became the parents of seven sons, of whom our subject is the
fourth in order of birth.
In the county of his nativity
David Belsley was reared to agricultural pursuits, and there
engaged in farming on his own account for some time after reaching
manhood. He was married in Woodford county, in 1880, to Miss Annie Nicklos, whose stepfather,
Peter Ecker, came to Butler county, Nebraska, the year prior to
our subject's removal. Here her parents made their home for about
ten years.

HARRY
Harry L. Nicklos married Lenora Dunlap October 31, 1918 in Ordway, Crowley County, Colorado.
In 1940 Bent County, Harry Nicklos, 42, born in Colorado, and Leonora 41, New Jersey, have
Laverne 18, Jack 9, and Jay 2, all three born in Colorado.
February 1, 1987 - Leonora Nicklos, 88, Las Animas, longtime Horse Creek resident,
died Jan. 30, 1987, at Bent County Nursing Home. Funeral service, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday,
United Presbyterian Church, Las Animas. Interment, Las Animas Cemetery.
JACK
Pueblo Chieftain - November 27, 2005 - Jack Whitney Nicklos, 75, lifelong farmer and rancher
of the Horse Creek Community, passed away Nov. 24, 2005, at his La Junta home. He was born on July
13, 1930, to Harry and Leonora (Dunlap) Nicklos. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Marlene, whom
he married, Nov. 23, 1950, in Las Animas; sons, Michael (Mary Sue) Nicklos of La Junta, David (Mary Ann)
Nicklos of Hale, Colo., and Robert Nicklos of La Junta; daughters, Becky (Carl) Otteman of La Junta,
Jill (David) Schwank of Monument; grandchildren, Katie Sue, Elizabeth, Amy, Ross, Bradley, Kari and
Ashley; sisters, Edith Helen Howe of Littleton and cousin, Earline (Glenn) Shinn of Colorado Springs.
He was preceded in death by brothers, LaVerne and Jay Nicklos; grandson, Matthew Nicklos. A private
graveside service was held Saturday in La Junta. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may
do so to the Arkansas Valley Hospice, P.O. Box 1067, La Junta.
