In 1880 Pike County his mother Elizabeth is 75, George is 31, Laura 17(granddaughter of Elizabeth.) son Charles Leland 1 ?, and Elisabeth Hughey is 35.
In 1885 Seward County, Nebraska Isaac Hughey is 38, Elizabeth 40, and John is 3. They recorded Isaac and Elizabeth as born in Ohio, John in Illinois.
John C Hughey - John was born in 1882 in Missouri and came to the Idalia area in 1888 with his mother, Elizabeth Hughey, and uncle, George Hirons. They homesteaded five miles southwest of Idalia near Friend. In 1905 John married Minnie Brinkhoff. They had three sons. Elizabeth proved up a quarter next to George in 6, 5S 44W in 1897, and claimed a Timber quarter in 29, 4S 44W in 1898
Elizabeth Hughey was born in Ohio May 26, 1834 and died at her home near Idalia, March 25, 1911. She leaves a son and several relatives to mourn her death. She's buried in the Lucas cemetery.
John is in Idalia in 1920, married to Minnie, 36, with Clarence 13, Harry 12, and Linas 10.

gathcring on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the home of their daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Giggy of Kersey. In attendance were Mr.
and Mrs. Donald (Carol) Giggy and :heir two children, Kimber Lee and
Tom, of Kersey; daughter, Mrs. Donna Lee Goode, and her :hree children,
Jonna and Steve Hughey and Billy (Chip) Goode, who live with the couple;
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hughey of Idalia; Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Akey and son,
Cody, of Wray; Mr. and Mrs. Linus Hughey and Lance Hughey, all of
Denver; and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Laffoon Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hughey Celebrate 40tli 'Anniversary of Greeley, close friends of the couple. Mr. and Mirs. Hughey were married on Sept. 4, 1929 in Burlington. They resided in Idalia until 1943, where Hughey farmed and worked with Kent Oil Co. He worked for United Air Lines in Cheyenne, Wyo., until they moved to Kersey in 1946. After operating a small Lee grocery store in Kersey for three years, they moved to Greeley in 1949 and have resided here since. During this lime, Hughey commuted to Cheyenne for 11 years to work at Warren Air Force Base. For the next six years he commuted to Denver to work at the Martin Co. He is currently employed as a property accountant at Colorado State College |
George's will was probated in Denver in 1895, and his tombstone in Lucas says 1841-1895

Hughey Wm. E. proved up a quarter in 6, 4S 45W and one in 31, 3S
45W in 1914 (they join). Minerva E. Miller proved up a
quarter in 31, 3S 45W in 1920, and one in 12, 4S 45W, joining James. A.
Miller's 1891 cash claim, just north of Andrew Lucas' 1893 homestead
quarter and his 1893 Timber quarter.
Nancy Hirons married William Foreman, who died in 1862 - and they had David H. Foreman. Another child was Melvina F. Foreman born Aug 31, 1860 in Pike County, Illinois, and married James Allen Hickerson in April 16, 1889 in Yuma County, and they had Effie B. in February 1890. James A. had cash-claimed a quarter in 21, 1S 43W in 1892, and a Timber quarter in 18, 4S 44W (a half-mile from the Lucas claims) in 1898. His mother Martha and sister Susan May (Hickerson) Cox also came out. In 1900 - on the same census page as Nancy - are James, Melvina, Effie B. Feb 1890, and William E. June 1893. and Claud William Hickerson June 12, 1893 Melvina died June 21, 1910 in Salem Oregon, and James died Feb 24, 1927 in Portland Andrew Lucas: Enlisted in Company I, Illinois 70th Infantry Regiment on 04 Jul 1862.Mustered out on 23 Oct 1862 at Camp Butler, Springfield, IL. Nancy Hirons married ANDREW LUCAS March 10, 1867 in Pittsfield, Pike Co, Illinois. 1900 "Mrs. M.E. Gibson, sister of Mrs. Andrew Lucas, stopped off here for a visit with relatives. She is on her way from Salem Ore, to Pike county, Ill. In 1900 Idalia Andrew has been married 33 years to Nancy - she's had six children, four living. David H. Foreman, July 1856 Illinois, Jesse Lucas Apr 1868 Illinois (widowed), Merrill grandson June 1895 Colorado. Andrew is living with James and Melvina in 1910 Polk County, Oregon. Jesse L. Lucas married Nettie Leake June 30, 1909, and Bessie Parsons Dec 25, 1921. He was born May 10, 1844 in Taylorville, Christian Co, Illinois, and
died April 08, 1912 in Polk Co, Oregon?. Nancy A Lucas - Feb 8, 1833 -May 1904 and Andrew Lucas - May 10, 1844 - April 8, 1912 are in City View Cemetery, Salem Oregon. WILLIAM E5 LUCAS (NANCY A4 HIRONS,
JOSEPH3, JOSEPH2, SAMUEL C1) was born July 16, 1870 in Illinois, and
died 1940 in Denver, Colorado. He married ARTEMECA MILLER 1898 in Yuma
Co, Colorado, daughter of JACKSON MILLER and MINERVA DONHAM. She was
born January 30, 1879 in Kansas, and died April 1980 in Denver, Adams
Co, Colorado. Minerva E. Miller 1848-1932 is buried in Lucas with son Morgan H 1876 -1964 Jackson Miller is buried in Brighton, and William and Artemeca Lucas,

Henry Swain Hirons, brother of George and Elizabeth, was born 1839 in Ohio, married Harriett Foreman in 1860 in Pike County, Illinois. Then he married Rachel Ellen Woods Sept 29, 1866 in Pike County. Henry died June 12, 1893 in Linn County Oregon. So David probably knew her through either the Foreman relationship or the Hirons one (or both).
1922 W. G. Hirons of Grand Junction was the treasurer of the western division of the Colorado Educational Association.
Frank registered for WWI in Kansas City, saying he was born Janaury 14, 188 in Schuyler, Nebraska, and was a locomotive fireman for the AT&SF, supporting his parents, wife and two children.
In 1920 Frank H. Hirons, 31, Nebraska is in South Bijou, Colorado, married to Maud M. 29, Kansas.
