Robert S. Pike


In 1850 Venango County, Pennsylvania, Edward Pike is a blacksmith, with Elizabeth, both 37. Cath is 7, Andrew 4, Robert 2, and W. Loyd -month old daughter.
The daughter might be the Mary Sanford 185--1919 buried in Great Falls, Montana # 46333321.

In 1870 Trempealeau County, Wisconsin, Edward Pike is farming with Elizabeth both 57. Sage is 17, Mary 20, both born in Pennsylvania. Next household is Andrew Pike 24 with Emeline 22, both born in Pennsylvania.

One tree said Elizabeth died March 20, 1852 - after Eliza was born in February in Buchanan County.

Elijah Ross and Elizabeth Thomas married in Buchanan County November 1, 1853.
The Alexander Ross in the cemetery dying in 1859 age six weeks must be their son # 161447459.

In 1860 Buchanan County, Missouri, Elijah Ross is farming 38, Elizabeth 28, John L. 1 4, Mary E. 12, Permelia 10, Eliza Ann 8, James A. 6, William 4, and Sally 2.

In 1870 Elisa Ross is 19, with parents "Eliga" 51 and Elizabeth 41. Marry L. is 22, Permile C. 21, James A. 16, William F. 14, Sarah 12, Martha E. 9, Madison 7, and Dora 2.


In 1880 Nodaway County, Missouri, Eliza Ross is 28, with parents Elijah 64 and Elizabeth 50. Martha is 18, Madison 16, Dora 12, and Mollie 5.

Elijah 1815-1903 is buried in Nodaway County, # 25474435.
Madison Parnell Ross, born July 5, 1863 in Buchanan County, died in July 1953, to be buried in Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.

In 1870 Venango County, Robert is 24, working with the Patrick and Bessie McGuigan family.
"Marriage licenses were not required in Pennsylvania until 1885. As a consequence, there are almost no legal records of marriages prior to that time."

In 1880 Mercer County, Pennsylvania, Robert is 32, Jennie 30, farming. Both were born in Pennsylvania.


There's a Pike buried in Wray, with no dates or first name # 68942394.
Jennie Pike 1850-1891 is buried in Wray in the same block there's a space between them, and then two spaces on the other side of the unknown..

Robert S. Pike and Eliza A. Ross married in Yuma County August 16, 1894.

Robert S. Pike proved up a quarter in 4, 1N 42W in 1892 - about three miles east of Laird. He timber-claimed another in 1898, and in 1911 cash-claimed 80 acres, and another 80 acres in 1912.

January 1900 "R. S. Pike has been appointed road overseer. He will do his work faithfully and in a satisfactory manner."

In 1900 Laird precinct, Robert, born January 1848 in Pennsylvania, married five years to Eliza A. Feb 1853 Missouri. She has not had any children.

September 1900 "W. T. Ross and W. B. Key of Maryville, Mo., stopped off here for a few days visit with relatives and friends this week. They are on their way to Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Canon City to look up a location for a ranch. Mr. Ross is a brother of Mrs. R. S. Pike of Laird, and he spent the latter part of the week at the Pike ranch."

April 1902 " Fisk brothers, Thomas Ashton and R. S. Pike each sowed alfalfa this week.
R. S. Pike received a large invoice of fruit and ornamental trees last week."

June 1905 "Mrs. R. S. Pike of Laird, delivered some fine home grown strawberries to the Wray merchants the first of the week."

1909 "Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Vaughn, Mrs. Pennington and Mrs. Tom Loyd were guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Pike, near Laird, last Sunday."
In 1910 Yuma County, Robert is 62 - second marriage, with Eliza 54 - her first marriage.

July 1911 "Notice..
I am the sole owner of reservoirs No. 1, 2 and 3, known as the State Line Reservoirs. I will not allow hunting, fishing nor boating. I will prosecute any person trespassing in any manner on the above reservoirs.
R. S. Pike, Laird, Colo."

March 4, 1915 "Mrs. R. S. Pike had a birthday Thursday, but had forgotten the fact until a company of friends and neighbors arrived to remind her that Time waits —not even for woman. Mrs. Pike proved equal to the occasion and as soon as she recovered from the surprise."
October 1917 "Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Pike, who for many years have made their home seven miles north of Laird, and who sold their home there about a month ago, left Sunday evening for Kansas City, Missouri, where they go for an extended visit with the former's nephew. They will then visit relatives and friends in Iowa, Marysville, Missouri, and then are planning on going to Oklahoma. After spending some time there , they are talking of going on to California. Before leaving this vicinity they spent several days with their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ashton and Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Rose. Mr. and Mrs. Pike intend to return to Laird in the spring and will build on their quarter section south of that place."

In 1919 Denver, they're living at 1837 S. Washington.

Robert 1848-1919 is buried in Wheat Ridge, Colorado # 19084306.
So is Eliza A. 1846-1931 # 19084316.
(One tree said she was the mother of William Henry Aldrich and Mary A. Aldrich, from her husband John W. Aldrich.... )

Robert's heirs were his wife Eliza A. Pike of 1834 South Washington, Frances Davison, Rose Davison, Helen Davison, nieces of Bernard, Missouri, niece Anna Sanford of Great Falls, Montana, Robert Allen Sanford, and Doris Sanford, her children.
His property was the house in Denver and a farm in Yuma County.

(Ann Jane Lucas married Elmer Sanford. Elmer A. Sanford 1887-1918 is buried in Highland Cemetery, Great Falls. Anna was born in Alberta Canada March 20, 1888. Elmer's mother's maiden name was Mary Pike, and he married Ann in Lewis and Clark County March 26, 1914 )

Mollie Ross married James L. Davison in Nodaway County September 14, 1898.
So Mollie was the half-sister of Eliza - born about 1865 in Missouri.
In 1910 Nodaway County, Missouri, Frances, Pearl and Helen Davison are nieces of Fred Davison 30, single. His mother Bell 68 born in Michigan.

In 1920 Nodaway County, Missouri James Davison is 49, Mollie 50, Frances 19, Pearl 16, and Helen 14, all born in Missouri.
Mollie Reynolds Davison, born August 24, 1865 at Forest City, Missouri, died in Nodaway County June 6 1961, wife of James L. Davison, deceased. She was to be buried in Barnard.
# 28893364 has her buried at Pumpkin Center, Nodaway County.
# 109618351 has Mollie Davison 1874-1907 on the same stone as James L. 1871-1953 - wonder if his second wife was also Mollie.
June 6, 1961 "Mrs. Molly Reynolds Davison, 96, Barnard, died at 5 a. m. today at a Clearmont nursing home after a long illness. She had been at the nursing home for six days. Mrs Davison was born Aug. 24, 1864, at Forest City. Her husband, James L. Davison, died Feb. 21, 1963. She was a member of the Salem Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Alma Fuqua, Selling, Okla., and Mrs. R E. Nugent, Lake Wood, Calif ; a son, Frank Reynolds, Atascadero, Calif.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Austin Spoor, Maryville; Mrs. Colo Yeisley, Coin, Iowa, and Mrs. Edgar Jackson, Barnard;"
Helen F. Jackson 1903-1974 # 28909951 is buried in Salem Cemetery, with Edgar C. 1903-1983 # 28909965.

November 21, 1974 "Mrs. Helen F. Jackson, 69, Barnard, died at 8:15 a.m. today at St. Francis Hospital, where she had been a patient four weeks after a long illness. Mrs. Jackson was born May 5, 1905, at Barnard, the daughter of the late James L. and Mollie Ross Davison. She was married March 5,1926, at Barnard, to Edgar Jackson, who survives. She was a member of the Salem Christian Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Donald and Doyle Jackson, both of Barnard; one daughter, Mrs. Kay McGee, Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Spoor, Maryville, and Mrs. Pearl Yeisley, Coin, Iowa, and three grandsons. Two children preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Price Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry B. Spear will officiate. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery, near Barnard. The family will meet friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home."

Pearl Davison married Cole Yeisley in 1925 at Savannah Missouri. They had Colleen (Yeisley) Haynes, Joan (Yeisley) Fox, and James Yeisley. Pearl 1903-1994 is buried in Coin, Iowa # 52641352.
